To see if it's more efficient I'd think u would have to compare them with equal grains per lbs, even draw length as well as multiple test for accuracy... it's an interesting theory
I have a 64 Bear Kodiak @ 45 # I use both 400 and 500 spine carbon arrows and I also use wood arrows as well and have had good results with all of them. Still debating what my next Bear recurve bow model to acquire. Thank you for posting the comparison.
My brother has an old 1970 or 1972 Bear Grizzly at 47 pounds he draws to 45 for his draw size. He has used it so far to get a few rabbits but then a 35 pound at draw bow will kill rabbits.
Someday you should try to find the Beat Brown Bear that Bow is a duel sided all fiberglass bow from Bear that came as a 45 pound hunting weight bow only. That bow is one I got my dad 2021 for Christmas for around $85 including shipping, pre taxes. The bows was made until the rise of Compound bows as well as the 76'r and other model in the mid to late 1970's both good reason from Bear as to why there was no need for an all fiberglass model from them, when Ben Pearson made and was at the time still making the best all fiberglass bows.

Your videos have been excellent and very original. I have a 68 kodiak hunter 45lbs. It would interesting to see how it compares to the new model as well as the how it compares to the 59.. is the 59 worth more and what is the benefit of paying more if any
I hd recently puchased a 50th Anniversary take down. I really liked how the riser felt in the hand. I have had nithing but troubke with the brass inserts chipping the riser. I sent it back in. I thought they would send me a new riser but they did not. know the insert and chip is back plus the latch on the limb pocket failed. I am thinking of telling them to send me a 59 Kodiac and I will cut my losses on money. How do they compare grip wise?
I keep going back and forth between the 59 Kodiak and the Cheyenne for purely hunting purposes (Elk mainly) which would you choose? Also if you get a chance I would love to see you review the Bear Paw Creed, 3 Rivers has them. Have been thinking of getting a Super Grizzly, Kodiak Magnum or the Creed for the fun of it as well. Love your Videos and the format... I record your rating, facts and figures to help me determine what I may buy next. I look forward to every new video, keep up the great work.
I have contacted Three Rivers about a bear paw creed and I should have one soon for review. As for which bow to choose the Cheyeene or the 59 Kodiak., Both are excellent bows and would serve you well but if you are asking which one I would choose I would have to say the 59 because it is so accurate and fast. This will be good for those longer elk shots you may take... Thanks for watching.
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 Thanks Todd, I greatly appreciate the reply and look forward to the Creed review. I am going to head out to my local Traditional Archery shop and shoot both (They are bringing in some guys who have them and will let me compare them). What are you using for Arrow shaft stock when you build up these arrows? Would be nice to see a video on all the arrow components you are using with source links. I am getting back into arrow building now and it would be helpful.
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 Great, I am looking forward to the updated video. FYI - I Called Jared this morning and they did not have have any 59 Kodiaks at the moment but I did pick up a 50# Cheyenne and a 50# Kodiak Hunter. I will keep checking in on the 59 Kodiak. If it wasn't for you I would not have known about the seconds program and would not have gotten more then (1) bow this year, now I may get (4) :-)
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 I’ve been shooting a mates predator lobo longbow which is fuller in the hand like the grizzly. But I have shot his kodiak and it feels real narrow but do you just see this as an adjustment faze?
@@mattsmith2051 Yes like any new bow you will have to get use to shooting it and it may fill a bit strange at first but that quickly disappears as you shoot more.
This is why I am going with a bow that I will be drawing 45--46 pounds for myself, with 450 spine Aluminum arrows from Cupid for my hunting bow. The bow will be a Youth Longbow in left hand due to eye dominance from GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY that will have my same draw of 24--24.5 inches. I like the bow has the noched/locator grip even though being youth sized I probably as an adult do not need that being I have kids large to XL, adult extra small, or a women's small glove size depending on model and design but I think with the bow coming with a Dynaflight D-97 and is Reflex design though the lesser style of reflex from GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY, not to mention the 52 inch sized longbow, I am still going to want the notch handle for the bow with the added bonus of lining up right in the same spot each time I use the full straight handle grip. I like using the full grip or as close as I can get with my bows.
I don’t know why I ever sold my (2018 model) 40#er. Very efficient and fast for such a low draw weight. Plus I think they’re the most beautiful bow ever made. Personal opinion.
of the Bows Bear Makes the 59 or the standard Kodiak are the best looking bows after the Bear Grizzy which is interesting as those riser shapes are some of the most copied by other brands including dead brands like Ben Person with the 59/standard Kodiak riser. The next most copied is the Super Kodiak and the Supermag 48 those pushed out style of riser handle that Bear was one of the first to make that was copied by Shakespeare, Ben Person, and custom brands like GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY. The others that are copied like the Montana handle or the Au-Sable are just takes on a longbow/reflex design of rizer/handle out there already.
When you look up 👆 what weight needed to shoot buck in South africa, numbers like 50lbs 60lbs 70lbs 80lbs but when you calculate the kenetic energy. Now here comes the truth. Guy with 60lbs recurve shooting 585 grain arrow at like 160 + fps and kinetic energy of 36.5 claims to shoot 2 buck of 300-400kgs.. 🤷. Personally, I look bow performance. Like the bear cheyenne. If bow can shoot 600 grain arrow and bang out 36 kE. What else do you need. Why pull 70lbs bow. I personally can't pull 60 lbs bow.
