This is one of the best missions i every played in any RTS. The mad dash back to the bridge at the end trying to hold the line and barely managing to do so against all odds, only to receive that unexpected gut punch at the end. Excellently done by the designers.
Hello. For those who are having a little bit of trouble and want some insight: The game wants you to hold both income zones that are close, so spawn two cvs at the start. This is because otherwise you would not have enough income for reinforcements The left is the most complex position, the AI spams helicopter and M60s and AAA in the south round. I recommend using normal VDV with at least 2 igla units to deal with the cobras. North road in the same position is less attacked so an atgm an a normal unit will do fine. later on the Mi-24v aa could reinforce. In the Main objective zone, the one in the north, is recommended to have as many vdv as possible, a cv and some atgm, two would do fine, the HQ platoon has some cheaper atgm but without the atgm apc. Later on reinforce with an Mi-24VP to relief infantry for periods of time. As long as you hold a constant supply you should do fine. As the op is mainly spam of tanks and some other units though the same road.
This ended up being my easiest mission. The tank attacks on Dmitri were stopped by 2 flanking helos and lots of direct AT that was out of side from the fields. ATGM launchers were set for that instead. The extra cap points were guarded by more direct AT and AA. I never had to retreat to the bridge because of my micro and supply management.
I really enjoyed this mission. I actually managed to hold the town against the Germans, but the Americans proved too much. Loved the twist at the end, really differentiates individual operations from army general and typical skirmish games
Sending a load of infantry to die as a distraction or ruse is something I see the Russians doing. This mission is awfully like Hostomel. Airbourne advanced, reinforcements never came.
But here (in game) it is meant as a distraction so that breakthru in fulda can happen but in IRL it was meant to quickly get upper hand in negotiations because just how russians were acting from the start the werent expecting it to evolve they just tought that UA will surender
@@lodickasvlajeckou I really wonder whether ruses like that are even realistic or credible. In this scenario the USSR sacrificed a battalion of elite paratroopers, troops that are by no means easy to train.
Well, "turns out our bridgehead was a ruse and command lied to us about reinforcements" is a very, very common trope in russian and soviet war fiction. And has been for many decades. It all started with Yuri Bondarev's novel "Batallions Request Fire". Which, while not the best of Bondarev's books, was extremely successful. And even more successful was the movie of the same name filmed in the 80s. Since then this trope was reused literally dozens of times. Like, in every third russian war movie in the past 40 years. And to be fair, the devs didn't bother to put any twist on it. So for me, it was less of a "gut punch" and more of "Really?! C'mon, think of something original!", since it was really obvious from the very beginning of the mission. But, well, that's the "different culture code" for you =)
@@joshuajoaquin5099 not really. Even in WW2. That's not to say they didn't send units to death needlessly - that was a common occurrence. But mostly due to screw-ups (sometimes quite idiotic ones). not "by design". And tried to reinforce\pull out diversionary forces in most cases. But the crucial difference - even in the most suicidal diversionary operations units knew that their task was a diversion. It was not about morality - if you want the diversion to work, a diversionary force should be as "noisy" as possible to look bigger and more threatening than it really is. Otherwise, the diversion won't work.
This isn't a very common trope in the West, so it definitely has that impact as I would imagine Yuri Bondarev's novel had. But ocne things become a trope and then a cliche, it loses its appeal. But WARNO probably mostly has a Western playerbase, so it definitely is a fresh take on the whole 'wait for reinforcements' idea.
@@nick63090 Covered both Parabellum and Dawn at Midnight. Are there any new mods? Interestingly it seems that the ICBM videos have gained more views since I last checked. I thought they were around 5-6k but they're at 11k-19k. That's surprising. I haven't seen those numbers on my channel in a LONG time now :(
Ok yeah seeing your kill report after the battle: I had around 8k kills on Hard. So i really suggest to redo those fights on Hard. Otherwise nice to see you play more warno in general:)
@@Stealth17Gaming Ahh mhh i guess i must have done something differently then. I did push out from dimitry and killed alot of M113 and millions of Heimatschützen that never actually attacked. i guess that can be alot of points. Anyways i hope you do more content in the future when the Army General campaign gets released:)
My first run my game bugged out and even after wiping out my force they never brought a CV to cap so it never ended I had to a restart after I left it open 2 hours… Fun mission though!
I say it's the coolest so far operation. most unique, but the hardest? I'm not so sure. In fact I say Red Juggernaut and the infinite spawning M1A1s are harder and sometimes frustrating.
@@Stealth17Gaming Well I can only speak from my own experiences now. I found the endless M1A1s on Red Juggernaut harder since they eat T-80 KV for breakfast (you need 2/3 -1 to even be sure of killing and winning a fight with a single M1A1 on that map) and the soviet ATGMs in that mission seem to always miss for one some reason? This Operation if you set up right and make sure to get the AA and ATGM/AT weapons you need to kill of the M60s rush and later Cobras you can hold in the treelines and buildings. You play it the way they want you to play the map and you get spared some of the rushing it seems.
Any plans for covering the updates for Regiments? One of the newer missions, Task Force Mcmains, is brutal. Not too sure if it can get enough views as it's a minor game, but maybe as a challenge to enjoy in free time?
@@Stealth17Gaming Tbh not so sure of the newer missions, being a casual player I can't tell if it's my skill issue or the dev's balancing problems when it comes to Task Force Mcmains. If I am correct that this channel hasn't covered the particular mission, Operation Black Horse Mad Dash would be great display of how good the game is. But that mission isn't new at all, the game is fun but alot more simpler and graphically underwhelming than WARNO, so not sure if it's worth a video.
@@Stealth17Gaming TF McManus is like WARNOs Black Horse Last Stand Op but actually good. You have a small but elite force and you have to conduct a defense in depth against a Soviet armored attack. The operation has a lot of interesting mechanics like fog that cuts unit vision and the enemy changing directions of attack. And its capped off with your force going on a counterattack to destroy the enemy leftovers. It's difficult, but pretty fun. I would recommend doing it on Medium if you haven't played in a while. I played it on hard and got my butt handed to me, even though I'm pretty good at the game. Edit: Since I also saw operation BHMD get mentioned, I wouldn't recommend it for someone who hasn't played in a while. While you do get a lot of very good US kit, the enemy has near endless waves of T-80s and it can be frustrating for someone who isn't prepared.
So, i clicked on this Video because i'm actually from Kitzingen, and was kinda excited to see my hometown in a game... too bad the map doesn't even remotely resemble reality. Was quite disappointed.
