SO true what you said about caregiving. My grandfather passed away recently after a two decade long battle with Parkinson’s dementia. I was taking a little self care break from the commotion at home to get some privacy for about an hour when I decided to watch this video. I completely understand how you feel about your mom, and your words were so unexpected and comforting. I sat up with my grandpa for the entire night before he died, and never stopped holding his hand for one second. I will forever treasure our time together in his final days, and I will NEVER regret the sacrifices that I made for him. You are a role model in so many different ways, but the clear love and selfless devotion you have for your mom is so incredibly inspiring. You are really a treasure ❤️

Sometimes others just don't understand the TYPE of love and dedication that caregivers possess within their character. Those of us who take on that role, do it with dedication and inner strength that not every person is equipped with (not a judgment!). It takes true selflessness and is difficult in so many ways. In the end, you will never regret that time you spend with your loved one. Bless you for having that strength.💞💞💞

@@xxstarrymistxx if their body has been in starvation mode for a very very long time, sometimes the best thing to do is to eat as much as you want and whatever you want. this tyoe of 'diet' isnt for losing weight, it's about healing your relationship with food so that you can eventually treat food as an energy source, not as an enemy. it seems like theyve completed the first part (eating all you need until youre no longer constantly hungry). now that they're there, they will likely slowly lose weight because their body knows it has a reliable food source. sometimes that 'all in' part tales years. health is complex and there are more aspects than weight that need to be prioritized too. remember that muscle is heavier than fat as well so they could have also put on a decent amount of muscle, which effects your body differently than gaining fat. it's also ok if they gained all fat. this is a stepping stone for them, not the finishing result. hope that helps /gen

@@xxstarrymistxx As a former anorexic of 5 years who is now going through recovery and has gained more weight than my normal amount, I can say that bodies in recovery are unpredictable. For me, my body needed the extra energy for my bones (i developped osteopenia from 5 years without a period, so it's now trying to desperately close the holes in them lmao), to restart all hormonal processes and to stop my organs from "eating themselves" (i developped issues with my liver-its fixed now!!). You always overshoot when back from undereating, the amount of overshooting depends on the body. For me it needed more weight to repair the damage done (which is still doing, and will be doing for some time) .For at least a year and maybe more? your body doesn't trust you with a normal weight range. It's trying to save because it fears you'll start starving it again. It will calm down after it realizes you're eating enough, how fat that happens depends on the person (this is what happened with Stephanie's all in journey too) .That being said, ofc too much weight and fat is bad for everyone, but the commenter said they feel healthy and happy and that's, in their case, the only indicator that matters.
Op I'm very happy for you

I looked up Natasha Lyonne the other day and said “oh, she’s only 42!” Like… even 40s doesn’t feel old. My parents are so youthful in their 60s that’s I don’t even feel like that’s that old. For assisted living in the New Orleans area, I highly recommend looking into a group home setting instead of an institutionalized location. I know Chateau tends to have a good reputation for the assisted living side, but the group homes were seriously so much better. So glad you brought up the topic of care work. It's such a relief every time I witness others in their late 20s/early 30s share their stories. Most people can't relate (yet) and are busy building their lives. My father recently passed away from cancer and within 3 months my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with terminal cancer as well. It's such a privilege to accompany loved ones during their last months or years - and also incredibly intense. Parenting parents is no joke. Wishing anyone out there going through something similar strength, hope, and courage to set boundaries.

Thanks Steph. I am the main caregiver for my boyfriend’s grandmother who suffers from Parkinson’s disease. We both moved from San Diego two years ago, and immediately took the responsibility for her. We live with his mom (who is the grandma’s POA) and we all teamed up to help his mom with his grandmother. Since I am the one in the house with healthcare background, they trust my judgement and I’m blessed to do it with no exceptions. Fortunately for her, she does have 4 more daughters and other family but unfortunately only we are around. I understand it can be hard but as you mentioned, we do not want to regret knowing we could’ve done more. Stay blessed!

I do have training because I'm a nurse but sometimes I really get frustrated and it's hard to find my peace but u inspire me with ur positive outlook about doing too much vs not enuff... thank you for that perspective !

Hey Stephanie! Much love for you and everything you do, I love seeing your relationship with your mom and everything you do for her, you’re absolutely right, you will never regret doing more but you will regret doing less. As some one who took care of her mom as well, it really warms my heart to see this type of care and love again. I know you already know this but cherish every moment, when it’s gone it’s like this empty feeling that never goes away. I’m from Florida and my sister also believes in New Orleans!

Your mama is so lucky to have you (and your sister) take such good care of her and love her so much. ❤️ I’ve taken care of my dad when he was going through cancer. It’s such a powerful reminder to spend as much time and take care of our parents while they are still here with us. Because when they are gone, they’re gone.

I really love your videos. Love how real you are and how you put your fitness journey out there bc you really motivate me to do better and to not be hard on myself when I’m not doing better but to just keep trying and do what feels good to me. Not feel down if i didn’t workout 5 days this week or missed workouts for a couple weeks. Its really about just taking care of our bodies and I love how you have just really done that for yourself. Really inspiring.

Wow, I really loved your message to caregivers! I've left the family home to attend university and my grandad has moved into my room so that my parents can look after him. I sleep on the sofa whenever I visit home and help out with his care where I can. Sometimes it's hard but your message is spot on. The amount of love you give your mum is beautiful and it's easy to see how much she enjoys and appreciates her time with you.
