Found this channel a day ago on the 10k challenge; stayed cause she has such a happy virus vibe and she kills it in the gym which is something I admire cause I'm allergic to the gym lol. I do a ton of push ups and pull ups instead. I was looking at a protein called alpha1 antitrypsin, which can cause lung and/or liver damage at a very young age if you're born with a mutation (very rare). I looked at its shape using a biophysical method called Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry to compare differences between the healthy protein and the unhealthy proteins to see if there were any differences because shape can often determine function. It was interesting but I didn't like the environment and I was waking up unhappy everyday so I decided to stop after a year and write up my thesis to get an MPhil. I'm graduating this summer and for now I won't be doing anymore research. However, I still keep up with advances in science because I like learning and understanding more broadly about many things in science across many different fields. At PhD level you specialise so much that your broad knowledge base gets lost and you can't see big picture and it just wasn't for me. Maybe further down the line though!! xx

i know i'm late but your talk about when you first started youtube really got into me because it's so similar to when i started my fitness journey,i was trying to recover from an eating disorder my family never knew about,trying to figure out how to eat right and workout well,and my family ,especially my siblings would make fun of me,judge me,tell me that i'm obsessed with weight loss where as i was trying to find balance in my life,and not be afraid of food,and i was aiming to be stronger trying to be healthy again,and having anxiety doesn't help me take comments,i got comments from my brother saying "you think you're all fit and strong when you're really not " and it hurts cos it takes me a lot to feel confident and happy in my body,so it took me lots of effort to do what turned to my passion without caring about what they say ,especIally cos i'm the only one who's so into fitness,and my siblings are the kind "YOLO" ppl who eat carelessly whenever and whatever ,so i was always laughed at for choosing the healthy stuff cos for them ,eating healthy means i'm aiming for weight loss,when all i want is to be stronger,despite the little equipent acccess living in a north african country like Algeria,but seeing how amazing you are i'm now gonna fight through and reach my goals and prove myself with action not words for no oe but myself,love you

I don't know if you've said this before because I'm a semi-new subscriber (I subbed around a month or two ago - I WISH I SUBBED EARLIER!) but what did you major in and are you still in uni? If so, what year are you? That's so admirable that you don't throw education to the side... I know some RUclipsrs who completely abandon education for RUclips! My favourite book is Night Train to Lisbon by Pascal Mercier. If you like books that revolve around cities like the Zafón books do, I really recommend Night Train to Lisbon!!

Thank you Maggie!! I hope I don't bore you lol but here goes! I was looking at a protein called alpha1 antitrypsin, which can cause lung and/or liver damage at a very young age if you're born with a mutation (very rare). I looked at its shape using a biophysical method called Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry to compare differences between the healthy protein and the unhealthy proteins to see if there were any differences because shape can often determine function. It was interesting but I didn't like the environment and I was waking up unhappy everyday so I decided to stop after a year and write up my thesis to get an MPhil. I'm graduating this summer and for now I won't be doing anymore research. However, I still keep up with advances in science because I like learning and understanding more broadly about many things in science across many different fields. At PhD level you specialise so much that your broad knowledge base gets lost and you can't see big picture and it just wasn't for me. Maybe further down the line though!! xx

i know i'm late but your talk about when you first started youtube really got into me because it's so similar to when i started my fitness journey,i was trying to recover from an eating disorder my family never knew about,trying to figure out how to eat right and workout well,and my family ,especially my siblings would make fun of me,judge me,tell me that i'm obsessed with weight loss where as i was trying to find balance in my life,and not be afraid of food,and i was aiming to be stronger trying to be healthy again,and having anxiety doesn't help me take comments,i got comments from my brother saying "you think you're all fit and strong when you're really not " and it hurts cos it takes me a lot to feel confident and happy in my body,so it took me lots of effort to do what turned to my passion without caring about what they say ,especIally cos i'm the only one who's so into fitness,and my siblings are the kind "YOLO" ppl who eat carelessly whenever and whatever ,so i was always laughed at for choosing the healthy stuff cos for them ,eating healthy means i'm aiming for weight loss,when all i want is to be stronger,despite the little equipent acccess living in a north african country like Algeria,but seeing how amazing you are i'm now gonna fight through and reach my goals and prove myself with action not words for no oe but myself,love you
