Have 250k Avios, been collecting for years, thought I knew A LOT about Avios but still learn't something! Dan, you're a gem, thank you :)
Hey Dan,
The reason why you saw the 4k mile option for CPH-LHR is that intra-europe flights below 650 miles (distance) are 4k on BA in off-season and 4.5k in peak-season. I fly this route 15-20 times a year and it's great value per mile.
Hey Dan great point about high departure taxes in the UK, the government really need to change it punishes frequent travellers and drives away tourism from the country great to see someone like yourself having similar problems with this. Great video as always and hope to see you in the skies.
It isnt all government taxes, a lot of it is BA surcharges.
I am from Belfast but if I drive just over a hour away down to Dublin the price drops dramatically. I got a business class flight Dublin to Doha direct for £139! And it cost fewer miles
Awesome breakdown of utilizing BA Avios. I always get nervous with the thought of transferring points to BA.
I was glued to this entire video. Thanks a million for the advise. Here I was paying for my flights and all my credit card points unused!
So glad you found it useful!!
I booked BNE-HKG businee with QF dreamliner in April with Avios. They are really hard to find, as QF are stingy for releasing seats to partner airline. Can't wait :)!
Really good tutorial on finding reward seats for avois, I don’t have any but it’s still interesting! Very good video dan!
You don’t necessarily pay for all sectors individually, for example, if you fly long-haul and have a short-haul connection (Edinburgh via London to Chicago), you are only charged for the long-haul sector. Regional feeder flights onto long-haul flights are effectively free as far as additional Avios are concerned.
Thanks for the upload Dan.
Although most of my miles are with Sky Team; the combo of Alitalia, Air France and Delta get me where I need to be; this was a great vid. Plus your hair looks really great!
Thanks haha! Yeah Delta could be my next video :)
Awesome video, I have about 200k points on an Australian version of an AMEX card (found out yesterday these points have limited places I can use them) and was struggling to get even one business class ticket with the points.
This helps, thank you.
thanks fo the AMEX link, Dan! really useful!
I have just started watching your RUclips Ch and love watching your trips and have learned a lot from your channel. I have just retired as of last year, and have a bucket list as I also have cancer. I have never traveled over seas and on my list is going to the UK as I'm a royal watcher too. It seems your channel is honest compaired to some I have watched, very imformative. I am looking for advice on which airline is the best to fly over from America. I kn ow I can't come now as Europe isn't letting in Americans due to the virus. So I'd like to travel busniess or first class as you make travel like that seem so wonderful. Which airline would you say is the best? And what time of the year is best go go to the UK?
I also like your ads as I am checking those out to see if they can help as I'm kinda old so I'd like to make sure my computer and phone are safe.
Thank you so much for your help as I am sure you are so busy..
Best,
Debbie Cook
Hi Dan, great video! Informative and evidenced information that can actually be of value - something that can be a little hard to come by on a YT channels. Being a BA Exec club member with Avios in the bank this has helped me learn how to best redeem them. Appreciated! Happy travelling in 2019 ✌🏼✈️
Great video. Are you able to do one on the Qantas Frequent Flyer program?
Hi Dan,
You can often avoid the huge taxes from the US in BA First, I don't know about Business maybe it works also. You have to book through Iberia in First NYC-LHR and then Economy Blue Class to Frankfurt, Paris etc. and then the taxes are shy above 100 USD. It doesn't work with every flight for ex. Abu Dhabi or Kuwait. But for ex form Tel Aviv. In general Iberia has much lower taxes than BA, so its worth to check Iberia Plus before booking.
Good reminder of this great hack!
Hey, would you mind explaining that again, I didn't quite follow it. If you wanted to end up in London would you have to book a flight to Frankfurt?
@@NonstopDan BA executive Club is a fraud. In 14 years I wasn't able to get not even 1 business ticket LHR to LAX with Avios. I normally fly 2 times a year on this route in Business class (very expensive) and I earned over half a million Avios, believe it or not since 2009 I wasn't able to get any business class tickets with avios! Once I tried to book LHR- LAX in premuim economy and the return in Business hoping to be able to upgrade the LHR LAX with Avios. NADA!!! It's definitely a FRAUD!!!! I swithced to Star Alliance.
Thanks. Good information (had to take notes). I’m headed for the Middle East and if I’m still in the travel mood, North Africa. Any tips or favorites ??
Yessss! I love your videos so much. Keep being awesome!
Thank you so much Ashley
Boi
Very informative on the BA program, thanks Dan!
What are the best Star Alliance mile programs? Would you please make a similar guide on your favorite Star Alliance program as well?
Will do!
Wow such an amazing video i ❤ it! :)
You would love Australia. The animals are gorgeous, if you love animals! I recommend HALLS GAP, in Victoria, which I think you would love. Thank you for another excellent video!
Love your videos!! Super informative!! And at such a young age as well I admire it!
Thanks so much Adele! Really glad to hear that :)
Silly me, I came into this anticipating a BA first class flight review.
Another great video! The information was really awesome!! Thanks so much for sharing! It would be great if you could post some info regarding the Lufthansa Miles and More credit card. I used to have the Air Berlin credit card but lost all the points when the airline went bust!! Once again thanks so much!!
well explained Dan....I was honestly thinking of messaging you asking could you do a tutorial on this ! I recently took your advice and signed up for an Am Ex card and have started collecting miles, although here in the U.K. I could only get a 5000 bonus for the first 3 months, but the avios are building up nicely regardless. thanks for the info !
Excellent, Dan. Thank you. Using partners and searching on one airline's site for availability on another really twists my "noodle", so this was extremely helpful. For example, a flight I'm interested in from Vienna to Boston--I search on Aeroplan, which is Air Canada's program and Air Canada is part of Star Aliiance to get business class on Swiss...Wha? :) Seems BA makes it easier than this! Videos similar to this showing how to use American's, United's, and Delta's sites to book other airlines would be helpful, although I understand that IS more challenging than BA.
I love your channel. Thank you for the information. Lots of love from India
YAY thank you!
Always love your travel videos sir. keep it up... Awesome!!
Appreciate the kind words!!
Very useful information. You brought out some excellent points ! Thanks you !
Utrolig spennende å se hvor lett du fant award flights på BA. Jeg flyr mest SAS, og de forbanna kjeltringene har ALDRI en bonusreise når man ønsker.
Would you get tier points and air miles using other airlines.
Very good reviews... :-P
Thanks mate, can you do the same but with skyteam or air france, how to used the miles and get the best deals?
Great video as always Dan, shows that points do pay. My partner and I are doing London to Toronto next may in BA first for a total of £1100 ( cheaper than 2 economy tickets!)It was a combination of 80k Avios from my BA Amex card and the 2 for 1 voucher which effectively made my partners flight free. It might be worth mentioning it in a video sometime as it’s a great saver on points.
Aah that's awesome! Enjoy :D
Love your videos keep it up!
What a helpful video 😀
I love watching all these "How to" videos; if only all the Swedish/American credit card info applied to me in Aus!
Yeah I wish I could give credit card info to everyone, but at least there is some info I can give on redemptions :)
Your videos are the best Dan.
Looking forward for some korean vlogs !!😄
this was just great! thanks Dan!
Wonderful explanation, always enjoy watching your videos during breakfast in the morning.. Hey Dan, I am actually living and studying in Germany.. Do you have any credit cards recommendations that I can apply ? I am a non- US- Citizen
Have you got any links for a British American express cards?
Hi, any advice on how i can get the best value for my Avios in flying to Chennai, India from the UK?
Thank you for the tutorial! I wish Lufthansa had such good deals, i choose the wrong program with miles and more xD.
When you going Bangladesh Dreamliner
Great video Dan! Finally an awesome explication on how to use miles with BA!
Glad you found it helpful!
Boi
Awesome video 👍✈️
Can you do this for United Miles? They seem to be a good value as they don’t have fuel charges.
Thank you. Would appreciate VERY MUCH similar outline following CV and restrictions included. Sadly BA dropped my status. Dont see value on 1st anymore. Boxed meals etc.
Would appreciate overview on views re deals/direction to go to build up points again, and get back in air 2021👍
Awesome tips, I love the KWI-LHR F award, so cheap in avios!
Very informative to say the least! Great stuff to keep in mind. Just one thing you could possible add: You can get British Airways avios flights from HKG to LHR (Economy) for 30K but with only $30 worth of extra charges :)
I live in gothenburg(Göteborg) norra Hisingen and I’m going to travel with quatar airways to Dubai in December not sure which day but it’s going to be so fun😍😍
So glad to hear you booked the route :D We need to support it to make sure it sticks haha!
Even though you've changed your name you're always gonna be Dantorp to me😇😇You're the best!
Hi friend good video and happy chhath puja festival freind my country now chhath puja today and tommorow I Waite your next video good luck
I am 19 hours late but whatever Great vid
Keep up The great work!
If you don't live in the US, how come you can get a gold Amex and these mileage deal?
Hey Dan quick question for what if you travel NYC to Japan and you want save points in your next travel ?
NYC to Japan is tough since it's so long. There are decent values from SFO to Tokyo though, so maybe you could fly there and continue on a BA award :)
Ok thanks I m just wondering.
AwesomeAdam From 2099 the best way to save is to use Alaska Miles. You can find one way JAL First class awards for 70,000 miles. Even if you don’t have they have great promos where you can buy points
Hey Dan
Wanna use my Avios to upgrade to business. Going from Manchester to New Orleans return. Any advice to make that happen. Flight goes via London
Love your videos so much!
Please do more videos like this
are there some good credit cards you would recommend that people all around Europe are eligible for? Great video as always! :-)
Great redemptions on Qantas with domestic flights in Australia and to new zealand!
So I know BA does a TON of codeshares, is it possible that a codeshare on the same BA flight may be even cheaper in terms of points? I know that just on the DEN-LHR route Iberia, American, and Finnair all codeshare on the BA flight on that route, and sometimes the codeshare fare is cheaper than the BA fare. Same deal with United and star alliance partners on that same route.
You can't book award flights on codeshare flights so that'd be British Airways regardless of who else codeshares on that route :)
Hi Dan, just wondering about the credit cards in relation to credit score. I've heard that having too many credit cards can hurt your credit score and was wondering if this is true? love your videos btw :)
What is the best rewards program for oneworld?
I subbed befor 100k subs, now you almost 250k whoa
AWESOME!
I have been trying Qatar, Emirates and Etihad First class (mostly using points), but have one question: Is there a "easier" way to get a flight with Singapore A380 Suite, if you not have flown with them before? To buy a flight is 7.444 EUR.....
Great video, Dan! Will I have access to these flights if i transfer a bunch of my AMEX platinum miles to Avios?
You sure will! Thank you :D
I m an Indian and I love your videos
If you're earning Avios based on your credit card points and not earning BA Tier Points, is Avios still worth it?
Hi Dan! Do you still earn miles when you travel on a ticket that you paid for with miles?
Hey Dan! I have lots of LATAM miles but no clue how to redeem them. The thing is... i wish to try out Cathay Pacific first class but there’s no way I can check availability on Latam’s website for oneworld partners such as Cathay. How can I get past this problem?
are there some credit cards you would recommend that people all around Europe are eligible for? I always find this a bit confusing as some credit cards are only available in specific countries..... great Video as always btw!!!! :-)
Thanks! You need to check the available credit cards in your country - just search "credit cards" in your language and you should find a spruce that compiles the different options. Then, look for ones that earn airline miles or Amex cards :)
What about mile cards for UK based people seeing as your talking about a British airline?
There are BA credit cards from Amex there! :D
Google head for points. That site tells you all you need to know. My wife and I flew BA first to Abu Dhabi a couple of months ago on points. I highly recommend it. Awesome Champagne.
Will the amex card link work for uk residents?
How do I find a credit card in Belgium that also offers avíos points ? Because American expres gift point for starline
Hello Dan, great video. When you have an Air France KLM Amex gold card, Can you exchange your miles to British Airways avios?
Sadly you cannot, but KLM has some decent values, especially in business class! Google best FlyingBlue redemptions :)
Thanks dan - am a big fan :)
What is the best Credit card for Avios in the UK? Is it the American Express British Airways card? Can Uk citizens sign up for the US American Express card?
Thanks for your videos, I love to watch them. What I don’t get: when I fly LH FRA-JFK the taxes and fees are much higher than with SQ on the same route. Why?
The taxes vary by airline - they decide how much they want to charge. Some airlines will always be cheaper than others :)
You have a referral link for Canadians?
1:30 Where can I find this card. Since 1. Mai the Avios and Taxes have change by the Partner from BA. So maybe you can find a new side. Greating
Excellent videos Dan , love your work . I am a very heavy traveller for business I was VS gold for many years but have switched travel to BA ( as VS have cut so many routes especially NRT) I have 350K VS miles what would be the best use of them ? Any route I can use to convert to BA/ other one world carrier and get 1:1? P.S I got Amex plat recently but in UK it’s only 30K miles on sign up unfortunately 😳 though getting lounge access (almost ) everywhere is good !
depending on how good the new a350 seat is going to be you might not might have to save up till you get up to first class
I can't wait to see what they come up with!
Hey Dan! Can you do something focusing on Australian credit cards with airline meal bonuses?
Sadly I know nothing about them, but there are plenty of Australian points blogs you can find on Google :)
Pls do a tutorial on skywards program
Should I change my cathay Pacific Asia Miles to a British airways avios?
Personally I think British Airways' program has better values on most flights, but if you want to redeem for long-haul first class, Cathay is better :)
great vid!!
You are the best you tuber
Sydney to Bali idk! Flights are usually so cheap for us especially on sale.
Credit card strategies for the UK for Avios???
There are tons of points blogs in the UK that can help you. Just google UK credit cards for airline points :)
Any info on miles cards from Ireland
Hey Dan, great video. It was really helpful. It would be great if you do an example on how to redeem miles on Star Alliance. I currently hold several lifemiles( it would be great if you review Avianca as well) and would like to use them as efficient as possible. Cheers mate
Yes almost first...once a fan of dan always a fan....loved it..
Awww
What should we do if we live in India the fares for India to destination like Middle East & to Europe are over 400usd give us some tips for low prices frm India to other countries plzzz!!!
how many avios i need for world tour from london ????????????
I want to fly toWashington in summer 2019 from Islamabad. but the cheapest flight I find is $1000. I wanna know a way where I could get a cheap flight to Washington. my preferred dates are July 1st -July 31st (--+3days). the $1000 ticket is with Turkish airlines
Hy Dan thanks for your video. From France witch credit card I have to choose to get much points?
My pleasure! You can google best airline credit cards in France :)
Hi Dan, My be more relevant to UK based viewers but you can also earn BA Avios via their online cash back store by clicking on their link to hundreds of online retailers in the UK. Also anyone in the UK who shops at Tescos can transfer their Tesco vouchers to BA Avios at double their value.
And you can still use your amex card for extra points :)
Yes thanks for reminding us! Portals can be a great way to earn points too :)
Fantastic tutorial many thanks dan awesome work much love :)
