The Sunsets are beautiful there! Yes! Kelsey finally got her Washer & Dryer hooked up!! I fully understand that one! Hate going to Laundry Mats! Big Hugs from Northern Idaho.
Wow beautiful home build and yup it's the trim, flooring, etc that takes a while to get er done lol. We have had two homes built through the years and I know what you are going through. Take pictures, start a diary enter things like: we finally got our shower working on day #? after we landed in our garage and slept in our bedroom in the trailer inside the barndominium...fun things like this??? Down the road we forget those days LOL But life is an adventure and we get to be part of it for sure. God is blessing you ALL including the pups who are just darling. Thank you for a fantastic video even we for a walk in the woods fun times.
Sunsets/rises are always more spectacular in the winter because the sun is relatively lower to the horizon, so the light has goes through more of the atmosphere and picks up more colors. Glad you’re making your house a home!
You will want to lay a white sheet down then put the sample down. This helps with blocking out the concrete or osb. My grandfather started his flooring business in 1957 in Davenport.
Can't wait to see a summer vid of this property, with green lawn for miles. Ryan, I hope you and your family enjoy your new home for decades and decades.
with a brick floor tables and chairs will have a problem of rocking from uneven surfaces. but it might be too late depending on how long ago this was shot
@@johnholm8175 yeah maybe not good in dining room but mud rooms and bars for sure. brick might not fit in place with how their rooms are already built on the concrete idk anything about it really just know it's different which makes it memorable
(1) The next time I do laundry, I'll appreciate the convenience of doing it in my own home. Thanks for that reminder. We take such things for granted. (2) I remember well the stress of picking flooring, tile, paint. You're making decisions that cost thousands and those things are both expensive and a hassle to change. Don't stress it too much. It's taken my wife and I over 10 years to be ready to change ours. (3) Hopefully, you stopped at Mickey's to rehydrate after bowling. (4) We grew up on gravel but that was decades ago. We won't go back. We're soft now. (5) Rural midwest winters can be beautiful. You just have to open your mind. I know you two get that. Snow would make it even better. (6) Congratulations on the progress and good luck on your dust battle. 😀
Your videos were always good Ryan, but the quality of the edits continue to increase. Who knew cinematic barndo videos would be so much fun to watch. Great work
I really like the music and the golden sun and trees. We are experiencing the our first illinois winter in years and on the one hand enjoying the views but on the other the cold is really hard. Both of my hands and wrists are so swollen and sore.
I'm not sure what color you are painting your walls, but I really liked that grayish one you had... looked great with the color of the windows and the chair. Plus the Exterior WHite/Black will be a nice continuation of the color palate into the inside.
Floors are tough because of lighting, but you'll love what your gut tells you to pick. Also interesting that you have a water utility! I'm north of the Twin Cities, anything zoned rural requires your own well and septic. No fire hydrants either, but our local firestation has a special engine that carries water, and also a smaller truck to drive on dirt in case the regular engine can't pass! Thanks for sharing the journey, we just moved into our new home also!
What I’ve done in the past is if the flooring is a stocked item is to buy 1 box and lay it out, gives the client/ homeowner a better idea of color and pattern.
Not sure which store you're leaning towards but most have a function where they can fill the entire room with the style of floor so you can get an idea of what the entire room would look like. That made a big change in our thought when we were getting new flooring.
If u haven't chosen a floor yet, try a lighter color and stay away from greys....I was looking for the dark color but when I got some lighter colors it picked the lighter color...it goes with everything
Another inspiring update on your adventure in creating your new life. Many decisions to be made and with the careful consideration you are applying, all will turn out great. Glad you have been able to take advantage of the breaks in the weather to get outside to further explore and get some work done. Looking forward to the next installment. Spring will be here before you know it. ✌️
Great stuff Ryan. Liked seeing how the ventrac had yet another useful solution to your property. We used those Cortec plus HD vinyl planks in our basement and love them. Also..Did some dormant seeding last week in Illinois because of your inspirations. Keep up the good work!
Stunning views, so great to be able to hike/explore your property. Hope you guys are hanging in there through this time of transition. The little things mean so much (light over the shower and functional washer & Dryer)! All the best now and going ahead.
That office space is freakin epic! The only problem is window glare on computer screen lol. EDIT: I would actually build a corner desk so that I could face and look out the window when working.
Thanks Ryan. Long time subscriber, and this channel is the first that my wife will actually watch with me…mostly because we share a similar rural new build experience. Please please elaborate or do future vids on your pump/irrigation process/challenges with the well. This is the first well we’ve been on, and cannot get more than one Hunter Spray Head to run simultaneously. That’s with a 1 hp booster pump to house spigot too. It boosted the pressure but still cannot run a series of heads. P.s. your flooring segment gave us some serious deja vu.
@@RyanKnorr 8 gpm. Yeah, I have heard that too. Larger diameter hoses and/or spigot might help me. I bought an army of hoses last season, but all standard diameter. Not ready to do that again until I know for sure that’s what I need. Will definitely need to learn the “mathiness” behind this all! It will be especially critical for the real putting green, with underground irrigation, I’m also working on. What diameter hoses did you use at the old home for your DIY sprinkler system? They looked standard from what I remember, and you ran a booster pump from a water storage tank.
We just bought my late grandma’s house and we’re in the process of remodeling it before we move in. Didn’t realize how long everything takes 🫠. But we were going to do LVP, asked our flooring guy about prices and it’s only $200 more to do 3 1/4” white oak than it is for LVP. So we’re going to go that route. Might be something to consider.
Great Vid RK! The new optics are the bomb, loved that closeup with your wife and the dog, the detail in 4K is Lit! Peace and God's Love my Friend! Chad Upstate NY
I’m with you about hose pipes (& cables on electric equipment) Ryan. At least it’s summer here in Australia so the hose pipe is warm and flexible - but it still gets caught on everything 😡🤬. It’s all coming together really well and I can’t wait to see it all in the Spring. Beautiful light around the property. 👍
We just chose the flooring for our new build, then were just told its not aval now. UGGGH we gotta go through exactly this video all over again. I vote for #4 btw lol. Barndo is looking great.
Really nice video Ryan! Everything is looking really nice, boy I wish I had one of those Ventrac's! You have so many decisions ahead of you, but you can slowly check off another project! Take care and don't work to hard!
1st washer and dryer I agree 2nd the weather and views Here in western NY being so close to Lake Ontario it tends to stay overcast, so no real sunsets. No snow in the Rochester area but as you know Buffalo had 2 massive storms. I Look forward to your videos no matter the time of year. 😊
Most major brands of Floor Covering offer room visualizers. You were able to snap a picture of your space and add the flooring. It’s definitely a computer generated picture, but helps give a large view of what could be. Floor Covering is my craft. Be careful with vinyl planks that have a lot of knots and antiquing. They repeat, and you may start noticing the repeats all over your house. Other than that all the colors of picked out look pretty sweet.
I would probably just leave the rocks and add dirt let it wash in and settle puddle solid flat hold it all together then add rocks on top and dirt berm with grass seed for spring and reseed
oh my. that lens. I thought getting a 24-70 2.8 was the bees knees. my heart palpitated a bit before you even narrated the words. I rented one of those before. ENJOY!
Cmon Ryan two bucket method when washing vehicles 😂 But GL on picking the flooring (one of the hardest decisions). But I figured you had only well access, very nice to have two water sources!
With having 1000' of water line you will guarantee friction loss problems with your water pressure. If they can move the regulator up to the house I would have it done, otherwise they could possibly adjust it but chances may be it's close to max pressure of 50-75 psi
House is too sealed up and you'll probably have to get a heat recovery ventilator unless you already have one. My house in the winter used to get so much water in the windows until I installed a HVR. Beautiful house and acreage by the way!!
You mention you hate cold garden hoses... In your experience for you recommend any hose brand like Flexzilla? I've tried the various Menards brand and they all last a few years
What is the flooring for? You mean you aren’t going to be laying down PRG inside the bardo with some grow lights? We need to see some indoor action with the swardman! 😂
