I find claw grip and using middle finger presses for repeat input spam better, helps avoiding cramps/etc. Thumb pressing is total ass when you have to spam like this.
It's been 23 years since I first played this game and I still haven't been able to do this. I just screw up every time I get past 200 and lose patience.
Failing that in the 900s is why crimes happen

6 hours of jump roping is something else. My ability to keep rhythm would have been getting steadily worse for hours at that point.

I cheated. I played the steam version on my steam deck and slowed the game down and then turned the clock speed of the deck way down so I got like 3 fps. Made it take forever but it was easy.

I've done this once and it was with emulator and savestates. Just nope.

Huh! The rhythm seems pretty hard to follow as it increases from 100 to 200's, and then kinda feels like it skips and isn't regular from 300.
200 to 300 is double dutch, and has a completely different rhythm. The hardest part of doing this is transitioning from 199 to 200, then from 299 to 300.
I'm so upset I missed it. If only I stayed 30 minutes longer. Congrats on this one.
This is last trophy for me still can't get it to this day because of the input delay on the PS4 😢
I mean.. account for the delay then? Or just use a script for the achievement if that's all that's missing for you.

The transition to the 'tricky' rhythm at 200 is the ABSOLUTE WORST part of this whole thing. Congrats on nailing it - going to do it with Eiko now, right?
I did this more than once on the PS2, 1-200 is not that hard, 300-1000 not ... but 200-300 is ... U"=§(/UUR) §(U=)$(=)§(%R=)
Congrats on beating it my friend - at least you didn't sneeze in the 700's like I did. Now you can finally get the plat with a peaceful mind. This one does top sphere grid and 10k battles trophy for being the worst
This is why I don't like FF9. So many bad choices were made in its design.
Want a well-written, properly paced, tight story and gameplay? Stop playing after disc 1.
Want fast paced battles? Too bad, the ATB is slow as molasses, and all ability animations take forever.
Want your speed stat to matter? Too bad, the slow ability animations essentially turn this into turn-based combat.
Want to experience the awesomeness of the Trance system? Wait until you've maxed your Spirit stat by power-levelling.
Want to get the racing trophy? Mash two buttons for a couple hours.
Want to get the jump rope trophy? Tap one button for six hours (if you're good, like Death).
Want to come back later to try for them when you have more time? Too bad.
Want to max out your card collector rank? Play for hours to collect one of every card (that's fine), with no duplicates (really?), each with unique arrow combinations (oh, come on!), playing with every pathetic card waiting for RNG to turn that P or M into an X and then into an A (you've got to be kidding), and be prepared for your stronger cards to lose to an opponent's weaker card because RNG (well that's just silly).
Want to beat the game's superboss? Don't get a bad RNG roll on Meteor.
Want to see an awesome action-packed FMV as a reward for beating the game? Too bad, there's only a 2-minute sappy love scene.
But seriously, good job Death. I have never been able to pull this off.

Imagine if you broke 65535 somehow causes the game's memory to glitch. I doubt anyone would jump rope for nearly 7 and a half hours though.

So what is world record for jump rope?
The trick is you can never ever accomplish this without nodding your head. Its all in the rythum and noding your head up and down just slightly keeps your mind focused and on point with the rythum.
I remembered playing this in the early 2000s and my max was like in the 40s. This and the FFX lightning strike dodge and Lufia 2 level 99 dungeon quest that takes hours each time and start over if you die is for the diehards.
I was there! This ranks among your biggest achievements.
The stuff you do is just unbelievable. Keep the good work up!

well done two Final Fantasy Puzzle/Quest I have not achieved yet are the FF9 Jump rope, and FF10 Lightning dodge
@gmtwj-fye7898 the lightning dodge isn't nearly as hard as the jump rope imo. I've done the lightning dodges a bunch of times. You get lulu's(I think it's lulu's) ultimate weapon if you completely dodge every lightning bolt for 10 minutes straight. I timed it back then.
The trick to dodging the lightning bolts easily: every time a lightning bolt is about to strike, the screen will flash white for one frame, and THAT'S when you hit the button to dodge. If you press it too early, or too late, you'll get struck. Once I learned this as a teen, I never had trouble with the dodges again. The ONLY thing that sucks about it is that brutal 10 minutes of consecutive dodging.
Hope this tip helps you in the future and you nail those dodges buddy.🤝
The jump rope mini game I've never completed. 342 was my highest ever. It's possible that one day I could complete it if I practiced a lot.

You gotta love how the jump rope tempo is just like, 2% faster than the background music. If I were to try this, I would probably turn background music off. It would be really distracting that I couldn't follow the music. Maybe another tip for you trophy gatherers out there.
Most people seem to turn off the music, but it didn't bother me so I left it on. In fact I think the silence would have bothered me more tbh.

Some you get just by playing through it on the easiest mode while others are pretty much impossible unless you spend so many freaking hours of your life wasting away just to get some arbitrary achievement. Lol it's like nope, I have way more better stuff to do with my life.
And now do 1000 in real life.
There's many things I would wanna try/do in this game. 5 I would never do are the perfect audience score for the play, Robe of Lords prize from Chocobo Hot and Cold, Tetra Master max score, 12 hour thing for Excalibur II because I do NOT play FFIX to rush through it, and this. I already did the Hippaul thing once and it was rough. Congrats, you crazy bastard.

That's so crazy! The trophy for getting 1000 jumps is the only thing holding me back from having the FF9 Plat, which is the only mainline FF Plat I don't have (besides 12, which I'm currently doing atm, 13-3 which I didn't care to do honestly, and 16, which I'm going to finish up next)
I have all trophies for all others, but this jump roping garbage is holding me back lol
Any tips? I might go back and attempt it sometime.
Practice, reset your rhythm every couple of jumps, use the audio, use my video to practice the speed changes on your controller without the game running, double dutch is the hardest part learn that and you are golden.
Someone in a Xenogears stream joked he was gonna grind this when he retired and got old, now we gotta find something else XD
