Blind Pilot: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

- Blind Pilot and the Tiny Desk series both launched in the same year, 2008, so it's hard to comprehend how the two hadn't converged until now: The band's shimmery folk-pop sound, with its vibraphone and overarching vibrancy, is perfectly suited to the space behind Bob Boilen's desk.
Fortunately, that sound has bloomed considerably since Blind Pilot's beginnings, coinciding with the group's expansion from a duo to a sextet. It's certainly expansive enough to fill the air in this graceful performance of four songs from And Then Like Lions, on which singer Israel Nebeker issues a series of elegant, thoughtful reflections on how we interact with the past. The album's arrangements are incredibly rich, but they're also a perfect match for the organic, sonically uncluttered setting the Tiny Desk was designed to provide.
And Then Like Lions is available now:

Every single video involving Blind Pilot always has that comment on how underrated they are. Well let me just say it one more time; they are the most underrated band on the planet
ⁿⁿ0ⁿⁿ0ⁿⁿ
They are so good live, run if you ever get the chance!
Indie music is always better than “Lamestream” music
They are touring. I have tickets to see them in July 21, 24. Your comment is still true❤
@@charmed_doc6140 new album on the way yoooo
First time I listened Blind Pilot it was in 2009. I was walking in Lisbon and I heard a song at one store. I went to the guy of the store and asked who was playing. He said he had a random playlist and he didn't know, but the name of the track in the playlist was BLIND PILOT. I order their CD 3 "rounds and a sound". Until today, it's one of my favourite bands! It's part of my life!
Since it isn't already listed in the video, the names of the performers are:
Israel Nebeker - Vocals
Ian Krist - Vibraphone
Ryan Dobrowski - Drums
Luke Ydstie - Bass
Kati Claborn - Uke/Dulimer/Banjo
Dave Jorgensen - Harmonium
After following this band for ten years, I finally was able to see them in concert (Seattle's Neptune Theater) last night. The layering of sounds was magical.
Blind Pilot, thank you. You've helped me cope through good and not-so-good. Your music inspires, the construction is beautiful and performance is incredible. I'm in awe, and eagerly patient to see the evolution of this band.
This is one of the purest things I've heard in a long long time. I love this band!
I whole heartedly agree.
beautifully put.
Finding this channel is certainly one of the best things ever happened to me.
Yeah, I like grilled cheese too.
HIS VOICE IS SO SOFT AND WARM AND CALMING
A person I dated in college played "The Story I Heard" for me on their accoustic guitar and i've been in love with this band ever since.
When my daughter was a baby, I would put my phone in my shirt pocket with Joik #3 very soft and low, then walk around our apartment swaying her sleep in my arms. A lot of wonderful memories set to Blind Pilot. Here's to more wonderful music!
I am beyond excited that this has FINALLY happened. Blind Pilot is one of the best bands out there, made up of the most genuine people ever. Yay for a Blind Pilot Tiny Desk concert!
Literally the greatest voice ever
Yes, Blind Pilot has been killing it for years, & they still do!!
I began to love Blind Pilot after my 7th grade history teacher introduced them to me. I was going through the hardest time of my life, and this music, as cheesy as it sounds, made me feel less alone. Now, as a soon-to-be college freshman, I was able to see them live in Chicago. It was seriously the best concert I've ever seen. They are insane live, but also the sweetest people ever. Severely underrated and talented. I'm so glad I was introduced to them so many years ago.
one of the most incredible bands ever. such a shame they dont have a million views like other npr tiny desks
Saw these a few years ago supporting the Decemberists in Leeds. I love it when a support act who you didn't pay to see blows your mind!
As a licensed pyrotechnician in WA and Oregon that’s how I got my start as a kid in the 80s love this.
My most favourite band ❤️ so many memories with their beautiful music :)
Love from Australia !
I can't even put into words my love of this band... So much love and fond memories of road trips I will cherish forever!
Always thrilled to find out new bands and songs. And it has become a weekly thing with NPR!!!! Awesome!
You'll definitely enjoy catching up on all the missed albums for this band.
Jorge Henrique Michel Filho make sure to check out their album "3 rounds and a sound", it's one of my favorites.
+Calvin Huang I agree they have some great albums
I cant believe i forgot about this band! reminds me of 2009 :,)
I have watched 100's and 100's of these Tiny Desk Concerts over the years and when I see how sweaty the musicians so often are, wonder how the NPR employees stay awake in a office that seems a bit too warm.
This group is just brilliant, beautiful songs and sung from the heart ❤
I saw them in Sacramento in about 2012. A friend invited me to see this group that i had never heard of. It was in a small bar, SRO, but i got to stand directly in front of the band. I was mesmerized and became an instant fan. One of my favorite groups of the Hipster Folk genre. Their first two albums are 🔥. Israel and Kati's voices blend like they were born to sing together. Like brother and sister.
This band is simply the true meaning of consistency - Three wonderful albums, with incredibly well harmonizaed songs! Nothing but love for those guys!! :D
This band is so pure and precious 💕
Perfection. I come back to this Tiny Desk Concert every few months just to hear Israel's beautiful voice and lyrics.
I think I listen to this 10 times a day
about 30 of these views are mine... these new songs come alive when the play them live. just like it should be. love this band.
I love these guys. They're so awesome at their concerts as well.
I love Tiny Desk Concert. I've found so many great artists here.
First time watching this video: "Who are these hipster jokers using a double bass, xylophone, ukulele and piano accordion?"
100th time watching this video: "Please stop breaking my heart with this perfect sound. Repeat."
i love this band & this performance & npr tiny desk concerts SO MUCH
this is the greatest of bands & music
NPR never dissapoint me.
Such an awesome set. They play together so well. They play as one :) It's beautiful

My favorite band !!!!
Great performance. NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert on it's best!
love them so much.
You guys are truly amazing. I just have one request, if I may. I know you guys are gonna go big on mainstream one day. Please don't abandon or dilute your deep lyrics and style of music when you go big. You guys are literally a treasure and what you do is purely genius.
So glad they finally made it to TD!!!!! Awesome! Its been 3 years since I've listened to some Blind Pilot.
yes!!! I was waiting for this upload!
A great way to start the day!
Amazing. Only recently found these, what a great band

I love Blind Pilot so much.

have you listened to 3 rounds of sound by blind pilot? AMAZING
well written songs. nice to hear. thx.
I'm also surprised it took Tiny Desk so many years to feature Blind Pilot but pleased you got them to come over for a set my current favourite folk band!
Tiny desk should just produce albums... there is so many cuts from these shows where I like the live version better than the studio cut
This is... magical
Amazing!!
Love this.
i really want to see you here in Victoria BC Blindpilot! I love and miss you!
Iam sooo Glad I subscribed to this channel

💙⚡️Beautiful Music⚡️❤️
Voice is the bomb!
wish i could like this more than once
Amazing
They were really good
this is music!
ha he broke a string around 16 min. and pulled it out. so bad ass
SRV in the making lmao
Haha I saw that. String couldn't last 1 more minute! Definitely cleared it quick so the other strings didn't vibrate off it.
That was sick, I got some decent headphones on and I heard that pop before it happened.
THEY'RE BACK :D
Back here in 2021 ❤️
V cut white tee shirt. No pretense, just authentic, refreshingly beautiful music.
What a Heavenly sound, it sure doesn't take long to realise the greatness of this Man's voice, and indeed, the class behind. Superband!!!
Man is das geil😍
Blind Pilots and The Honorary Title are such underrated bands
Cant wait to see them at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC!
Very nice.
Paul Montero eqe
Don’t you doubt, everybody has seen some winter, don’t you take the dark way out
Haven't heard this band in 7 years.
BP♥️
I like their older stuff more. Personal preference I know... but i thinks it's far superior.
I agree. I like their new stuff, but they definitely went in a more pop folk direction. Their older stuff was MUCH more interesting with respect to the instrumentation, and his lyrics were more abstract.
Why have you stopped noting who wrote the description? (and date of performance) Am I to assume the author is the first in the list of producers?
💖💖💖
❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
Nice .reminds me of River Whyless
💕
One of the bands I would take to the grave with me.
None of them seem to be blind and I doubt any of them has a pilot license, nice sound though
Damn, loved the band. It's a blessing to discover a new amazing band every week, thank u NPR!! What album by them should I listen to??
all
There other two albums are fantastic.
One red thread is my personal favorite!
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss
11:54 or 16:21 ??? Vote for best wind instrument ever. Anyway, they are magnificent.
my hometown band is so incredible
Anyone recognizes the mics they have on the xylophon?
Yo, what is that piano that reminds me of a melodica with a bellows?
Also, that tuner on his guitar looks dope af, anybody know what that is?
Eli Stanford it's a harmonium 😊
matt peaks a badass
