Bodies strung up on the barrel of an artillery cannon is so fucking *raw*
Ik huh the whole thing is just… magnificent man, even the missions… its not all collect loot exfil… its assassinations, sabotage, vip work, this game even if a bit jank will be great if it sticks to what it is now…
That scene brings a whole new meaning to the term “Man Cannon”.
They got mad at us for doing that in Iraq, too
I mean... it's not like they were dead bodies, they were just Privates that we were hazing. We didn't even put tape over their mouths!
How much you guys wanna bet that Kojima is gonna be this games' biggest fanboys ever? :D
That’s a powerful aesthetic you basically never see. The only time I’ve seen something like that was the Armoured Car in the last of us that had bodies tied to it.
1:58 oh i am ready for those low tuned guitars. what a sound track man..
I feel like the internet is gonna be a bit to happy to meet those giant monster wemen
I can see Zdzisław Beksiński's art influences
Ah it reminds me of warhammer mixed with generation zero and mad max, and y’all have done that so wonderfully there’s no way someone could compare this to those, I can see myself playing thousands of hours of this and never getting bored!!!!
"Hey, let's make a Kingdom Death: Monster video game."
"Cool idea, we-"
"-and make it a shooter."
This game almost needs its own anime series. I find the world so facinating with 3 waring factions that have let AI run out of control. Did all the elites of the world survive hidden in bunkers or did they end up like everyone else. Be cool to uncover more history by finding data logs.
This is the game that i look forward to play when I wake up every day, please developer, know how desperate i am to play this game soon
I'm afraid it has been more than 10 years since I was hyped for a game, I hope they will take their time to make something good.
To be clear I'm seriously hyped for this game.
I am so incredibly hyped for this
"The Forever Winter is a four player, sci-fi, tactical, survior, horror shooter" That's a whole mouthful.
That's a lot of adjectives, isn't it? 😂
Long story short, welcome to the other hellhole that exists outside of the setting of 1984.
Freedom has been gutted dry, for the free are free of water and hope. Your only hope is to chain yourself to what truly matters - and pray you don't trap yourself in a fight that you cannot win.

Very cheesy
Also it has roguelike, tower defense and gacha elements!

"and you aint faster than a bullet son"
And the 4th type that figures out all the exploits to clown on the enemies.
I am praying to the lord that this game incorporates proximity chat.
Nothing's more horrifying than hearing the dying screams of your fellows over a static radio!
Proxy that also alerts enemies so you gotta be careful with your voice would be dope

I respect that you can tell they kept some of the movement clunky-ness in what they showed. Always makes me more trusting that the devs are proud enough of their work so they arent afraid to show it as it is. Instead of pulling a ubisoft and bringing a pre-scripted, pre-rendered trailer, that tells you absolutely nothing about what the game will be, except for the bare concept

Cyborg detritivores resembling giant plasticine women plucking corpses from rubble. Going into an active warzone with nothing but a thick parka, a shopping cart strapped to your back and an antique rusted-over SVD to fend off against metallic hellhounds stalking the alleyways of an abandoned slum. Hulking beasts of flesh and iron dressed with defiled corpses, as you pray to a shrine dedicated to the unholy machine that will soon take your life.
The mish-mashed arsenal of both Hollywood staples, World-War antiques and homemade guns fully expecting you to, somehow, kill bio-mechanical gods of death with mere bullets and optics. The option to willingly give up loot to aid newer players, and how this kind of community is only possible by literally working for the factions that are killing the planet and will actively kill you harder if you're successful, all for a few jugs of water.

I love that the Phrase "The year is 20XX, welcome to the future..." implies that the war has mad epeople lose all sense of time. Making the plot of an enternal war even more convincing. There's also a line to express how much the war reshaped the world. It's at 2:57 where the narrator says "...time to enter the macro city of Lost Angels mega structure..." which clearly implies that the name Los Angeles has been forgoten by those who kne wit and recalled by the people born in the fire.
i dont know that its even supposed to be los angeles tbh the factions are all european
@@SmokesKwazukii

It became so unrecognizable that it’s arguable if that even was Los Angeles.
The cities we once knew would not be recognizable, they will be war torn mosh pits after generations of conflict.
20XX is actually an old term from the original MegaMan games. It's used to say that the story is occurring somewhere in the 21st Century without pinning it down exactly, as the specifics could break immersion. If it seems more futuristic, you can imagine closer to 2099, but if it seems more familiar you can slide it closer to modern day.
@@RENEG4DE4NGEL a further quip on this, the competitive melee scene has adopted "20XX" as a meme that in the year 20XX, everyone will play Fox (the strongest character in the game). In that course, there is also a layer of inevitability in the phrase 20XX, which I think is neat in this context.

Pretty interesting how we're using what should be old generation Main Battle Tanks with the cream of the crop Super Mechs.
There was a dev interview recorded, who described the battlefield to be absolute anarchy after 40 years of war where the two military superpowers are now throwing anything and everything at each other. They keep developing new technologies and machines, then strap guns on those machines and send them into the battlefield in the hopes of gaining an edge, and even put new guns on old machines and turn corpses into cyborg zombies to fill their rank and file. When I heard "MDK" as a reference point to my old beloved game - I was sold already. Im on board of that hypetrain and waiting with fingers crossed that this will be bigger success than Helldivers 2 had. Good luck!
Just left an MDK comment myself, that game was amazing
This has great atmosphere, and the ai faction wars is a great idea. Most of the backpack frames I see are taking up too much screen space in that camera angle. Can probably be looked over if the gameplay is good.
I have the feeling the backpack is the only HUD you'll get of your inventory while in a mission. So maybe this shows you everything like health and ammunition which would explain why it is so visible. Other games also wanted a better immersion and left the HUD out and put it on the back of the player like in Dead Space for example.
This trailer oddly reminds me a lot of Journey for some reason.
The world is stuck in an endless war, littered with the remnants of it, but it doesn’t feel like it’s full of anger or hate. It just feels old and tired, waiting to keel over and rest.
Yeah. It doesn't have that usual flare of Humanity being at its worst.
This seems to be the aftermath of it. Humanity just gripping on what it could grab onto and trying to stay relevant from what could be its own machinations the Robot AI Enemy.
An Ai Army that the politicians put in place that are now dead, no one can stop them, they continue to fight this war until their is a victor, but unfortunately ai seemingly at a stalemate. Just be glad its not Tic-tac-toe.
@@pilotmanpaulthis is just the last remnants of humanity living in the literal hell they’ve created for themselves. the final result of industrialized warfare.
That’s strange but yea it feels like it’s just the way things are now and despite its hellish state there’s a beauty to all this madness amidst a dying world and seemingly never ending war.
LOL the crouching animation where the player is floating just above the ground is killing me!
They don't seem to be a big studio with lots of budget to be throwing around. So stuff like janky collision is understandable.
I also noticed when the character is walking it looks like there floating.
Typified eurojank?
Who cares lmao
@@negative6442 Me because it messes with the atmosphere and makes the game look poorly made
Damn, this really reminds me of Killzone 2 with its art direction. Normally I don't like "military" shooters but this looks to have the right amount of imagination to draw me in.
It's rare to see a game that requires you to master both combat and stealth. I have been thinking one way to do it is to have enemies you can fight alongside enemies you cannot, but I cannot think of another game at the moment.
Right? There aren’t a ton I can name either, but DAYZ comes to mind as one of the few. Constant tension on a full server 👍🏻 FOREVER WINTER looks terrific tho. Looking forward to seeing more.
Warframe has missions where you can work with/for one of the enemy factions for faction specific rewards. If the community sides with one faction too much then a special event plays where you have to destroy the super weapon you’ve been helping them create
this game looks like it draws some similarities directly from Escape from Tarkov. It even has the same underground like hub and prob plays like a Extraction shooter, but 3rd person instead of 1st person.
GTFO might be worth checking out if you want both stealth and combat in a coop game
Loving those presentations, where there ist just a calm voiceover, explaining whats going on with pure gameplay in the background. They did this for shadow of war back in the day, and it was some of the best gameplay showcases i have ever seen. This one is on the same level
I'm split in whether the V.O. is A.I. or not. On one hand it fits the theme of the game but on the other hopefully it's a real person because we're not in the forever winter yet.
Big improvements from the previous trailer, wish this project the best!
I love the atmosphere. The desolate landscapes of the wars, combined with the cyberpunk-esque dystopia looks amazing. It even has some kind of supernatural element with many of the machines of war.
This looks like what I had hoped death stranding would be
I hope there’s more environmental hazards that make you check where you’re stepping even if there are no active enemies around. Mines, automatic turrets, crippled robots, collapsing structures, pits, etc.
Games already hard as is , why are you making it even harder
@@marshalsunrise6582 lol have you played?
@@nubsity620 No , I don't think it's even out yet, I'm just giving my own opinion from what I see
From what they're saying, your not in the game to fight but to survive. And what really cements it is the comment about some enemies being able to take out your entire group. Meaning it's a survival scavenger type game where your going to be dying a lot
Which is why I said the games already hard as is , your weaker, less equipped, your a scavenging rat in the sidelines trying to survive and its not gonna be easy , judging by the trailer
interesting idea
@@marshalsunrise6582But remember, whoever’s shooting at you is only doing so because you gave them a reason to. Normally the enemies will be solely focused on each other.
would love to see a short cg film or even a manga in this games universe fr. 2:56 this scene is pretty damn cool
ong yessss
We already got Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei. But the environment there as far as I remember the MC never got to go up to the 'surface' but I may be wrong. Haven't been reading it for a long time.
As much as i love the aestethic and premise of the game. It looks buggy as hell. Main character floating far above the ground,AI glitching through objects and walls/ground, character looking floaty and the movement incredibly stale. I hope the game gets fixed before launch, i have high hopes
This is the first time I have been so interested in a game in a long time. I keep re-watching all the trailers.
The aesthetic of 90's anime inspiration is such a sick idea. The animation on the way those mechs move is so damn satisfying to watch.
I can't wait to watch these battles unfold.
Same here my man

O
I Absolutely Love this game's "You're Not the Main Character, you're just another rat trying to survive among the chaos!" Vibe!!
This is one of the few games I'm pumped for. Please make solo an option
it already is..atleast with 3 ais instead of 3 people
@@TitaniumRobotSeacow Solo with 3 AIs is the best option. I don't like it when games meant for 4 players can't be played with AI instead of them and you end up alone.
Hmmmmm. We'll see. Atmosphere looks good, gunplay looks like flare effect overload and a little meh. 03:50 had some jankey mob movement and it didnt seem to have real weight to it. Faction rep, progressively good loot, and missions that require us to carefully read the "intel". Hope it's actually interesting info/lore and not just fluff text that tells you X faction will be mad.
Ah yes, that soldier you looted with 3 magazines left on his vest you can only salvage 19 bullets from.
Call me a cynic, but this is the standard for looter games.
High risk, unrealistically low reward.
Do I want the game to fail? No, but I have such little hope it will not follow the generic looter formula.
While artificially forcing difficulty instead of making the setting immersive.
You could have written this all in one comment
RUclips would've auto delete my comments if ibspread them like this
@@josephwilliams5292 Could have, but if you could see the time stamps the posts were made at different points in the video. Kind of like commentary.
Absolute Cinema
Been obsessed with this game ever since the algorithm fired Riloe's presentation into my feed. Can't wait to dig into the lore.
The concept and worldbuilding are the perfect cocktail of a post-apocalyptic, grimdark nightmare. Rogue and malfunctioning AIs, warring military factions devoid of compassion or humanity, roaming biomechanical monstrosities that are worshipped by flocks of starving wretches at their heels. It looks like a warped world where mankind as a whole has gone insane. More please.
I love the direction of the narration here.
Walking animation is the only thing that needs to be fixed above all else for me so far, the game looks promising and the settings is unique for sure. I wish all the guys in the studio good luck.
This game made my choice to start career in 3d modelling, thos designs, this brutalism and hypertrofy, those strong definitions between factions, feelin that you no more than little bug below arm fortress legs. Damn
