He also refused to put songs on their albums that were guaranteed hits for years. Yes the success of 10 allowed them the freedom to do that but you can't unring the bell. Once they were that famous they just had to figure out how to deal with it and come to terms with it, or die. I'm really glad they were able to make peace with it and continue to make music. You can keep sneering at them for 30+ years if you want to I guess. Personally I think if someone is excellent at their job they should get paid for it and not have to be hassled.

You’re confusing success with fame. He wants all the bands to have success so their music gets heard and they can keep making it, but doesn’t want the problems and negative aspects of so much fame. And honestly, if more bands from that area had become famous then maybe the spotlight wouldn’t have burned the top 4 so harshly. We’re lucky Eddie is still with us.

Eddie has always talked about the bands they were playing with in interviews and how good they were. Which has turned me on to a bunch of bands I never would’ve known otherwise. Stone Gossard has a record label company that’s signed a lot of small bands to get them started, including Queens of the Stone Age. We only know what the media reports which is mostly bullshit.

I really liked Pearl jam but I can't stand his political type bullcrap. To the point that part has not gotten much play for a long time.
