I think they should do a decent mower. Not that I think mines all that, but the kids tell me in the video comments it does kick some ass. It’s just a 612 deutz allis with a 20hp vtwin and a mst206. It’s a blast to drift and it tops out just under 30, and rips donuts and burnouts all day.
excellent! yes to a little taller more aggressive tires, front+rear both. gearbox+engine sprockets will make it EASY+CHEAP to adjust gear ratio for tire size. maybe inch taller in rear and 3" taller up front for a little more clearance? small tires sure have a way of getting stuck.
Thank you for giving me and my lil man insight on the reverse gear box me an my lil boy loved the video as always good job on another amazing video and thank you !
Awesome watching you guys build! Have a good tip for your filter. Could be worth making a PVC pipe cover for the filter to stop water off the tires going straight onto it.
I hooked the same gearbox on my homemade gokart. I hooked everything up the same way you guys just did. Found out its backwards. thats why its faster in reverse. Live and learn lol. You guys are awesome keep it up
*CarsandCameras* I hope the manufactures create an upgraded version of that gearbox in the future which features Reverse, Neutral, Low, and High gears. Great videos BTW.
@@Ratkill9000 Or an old Sears lawnmower, or many other devices...I have used them on go carts, but a newly manufactured device like the one shown in the video would allow for many others to experience the mechanically advantageous superiority of low/high gears without the complication of acquiring, modifying, and fabricobbling unwieldy or ugly machines.
@@ProlificInvention wouldn't take much to get a Polairs 250 Trailboss gearbox to work on one and make it look good. Sucks they don't have connections to have gearboxes made for what they need.
@@Ratkill9000 Yes, I own a Polaris Trail Boss 250, but it only has Fwd, Neutral, Rev...and relies on a torque converter for changing ratios, so essentially the same as the one *CarsandCameras* used...maybe newer models had hi/low gears? OK, John I think I saw door's on the old chevy, time for an update. Guy's that reverse kit is nice. No more getting out, just to push it back a few feet and then nailing it to get over a bad spot. I got a cart on the drawing board and I think reverse just got added.
Just swap out your clutch springs for some stiffer ones. It will raise the "stall" RPM's of the clutch and give you more OOOMMMPPPHHHH on take off. When we did trophy races at a local kart track I got called out for having a shifter clutch. Nope. It's all in the springs and what position you put the shoe pivot on.

You guys should but on one the go power sports manual clutch since the box has a neutral I think that would be an awesome idea. Definitely not needed but would be a cool extra to add on for fun
If you got rid of the clutch on the motor shaft and the sprocket on the reverse box and installed a cvt sprocket on the motor shaft and cvt sprocket on reverse box you would gain allot more response on the low end and keep your top end as well.
Great video. I’m converting a battery powered golf cart to run with a predator gas engine and was looking for a way to install reverse. Very useful. Thx 👍
Would love to see you guys install a reverse on the yerf-dog. I have a 3202 which is similar to yours and it would be super helpful to see some experts work it out before I dig in myself. Regardless, love your channel!
I got the 212cc monster moto myself big tire set up. Paid 350 with title n was only ever started n rode around house twice still hadn't blued the exhaust from heat yet lol
What I've done on my spider box is used a Milwaukee 19v battery instead of that crappy expensive 12v. Dude on Amazon sells a 3d printed adapter. Thought I'd throw that out there.
These reverse gearbox’s are designed to be used with torque converters. The driven pulley supposed to be mounted on that shaft you put the gear on. Also I believe you mounted the gearbox sideways so that might break it
Hey guys.. Great vid. I am a disabled person. I lost my right arm and three fingers on my left hand in a train accident. I built myself a 1979 Honda XL 250 with an engine + Semi auto trans from a three wheeler. I am using a thumb throttle from the three wheeler upside down on the handle bars. Would you guys show how to do a left hand throttle? Grip shift or thumb. I just want a proper left hand throttle. Thanks for the awesome builds .
Guy's, I watched a video yesterday of the installment of a Predator engine you had done. I'm still tickled, how your governor adjustment sent the poor guy flying off! Thanks for warning everybody!
cool if you can find or make a miniature 3 of 4 speed or more with reverse. automatic? going thru them gears making it feel like Steve McQueen nice job !
If I'm not mistaken that garage is on John's parents property. Pretty sure they don't wanna hear welding and grinding and cutting and go karts running all day AND night.
We try not to burn ourselves out, we have two days a week to shoot our two weekly videos. Usually it's 10-12 hour days but today it could have been more and we try not to get burned out.
You should totally pinstripe the blue mini bike. You should definitely see if you can put one of those reverse kits on the monster kart (i don’t remember the name 😐). I have an idea which sounds crazy snowmobile=remove engine=put on go kart=liquid cooled madness, probably would smoke the Ducati engine any day of the week.
So what are your individual sprocket counts? I think that kind of information would be beneficial to others in helping them determine a setup if they wanted to calculate the overall gear reduction between the motor and axle. I know the clutch and gearbox output sprockets are 10 tooth. The gearbox driven sprocket looks to be 18 or 19 teeth. No idea on the axle sprocket, but I would hazard a guess around 32 to 35 . From what I could tell, the forward gear reduction on the box itself is around 1.3, which falls in line with most of these gear boxes. On that rough estimate, that would put your final gear reduction around 7.5:1 to 8:1-ish.
CORRECTION: THE "OIL FILL LEVEL" MENTIONED AT 2:06 IS NOT ACTUALLY OIL FILL- DON'T REMOVE IT!

Do it

2 birds with one stone. Gear redux and reverse.

I’ve been wanting to put one of these on my go kart for a while but there were no videos on it so thank you guys so much
I just finished swapping a predator 420, and used a reverse gearbox like that in a mid 90's electric ezgo marathon. It works amazingly well.
I put the same gear box with a Tav 44 on a 15hp buggy, works a treat
