If possible do your drilling holes first so you have something to hang on to or clamp more securely . Just a tip from a retired Toolmaker from Down Under in Australia
WOW, I can see me making a run (12-15) of these and giving them to my buddies for returning a favor. For a guy thats still working in the trades. One of these in your pocket or tool belt would be a great addition. Especially that beer bottle cap opener, Thats a mandatory part of this tool.
Nice idea. Even if I don't follow your design, I hadn't even thought of it until I saw your video and I realized that there is not much to these in terms of production, materials, parts and process-wise. A few minutes ago, I wondered about making a can-opener from a solid piece of metal for a one-piece construction-design similar to a bottle-opener.
Nice project. Only thing o would change is to omit the bottle opener. It weakekens the tool and is unnecessary as the average edc carrier has three bottle openers. From a custom knife maker and machinist.
I can't get over how beautiful this is. Absolutely beautiful. Which is actually a drawback. I would never be able to use it, lol, I'd cry if it got scratched 😭
yeah, but that's what separates us. some would rather make something to size and fit for their tasks and not be tied down to sizing for 5'8" medium sized hands. plus, a sense of accomplishment. plus, i didn't send my money out of the country to make it, plus, since what he's doing here will only encompass a few hours labor, (depending on your hand finishing preferences), you also have a tool you'll never have to replace because it was chinesium junk that chipped or snapped and became unuseable in 2 months. how many more reasons do you need to learn to do shit for yourself?
dang i just realised i can make it with my grandpa he has all the tools and stuf , havent met him in a while i think its gonna be a new project for us.
Good morning AV. What type of file is that for the finger grooves and what are you using for thst BEAUTIFUL patina? What an INCREDIBLE piece this is! A true work of art!
@@AVmake THANK YOU DEARLY AV for this valuable Information!!!! Putting it on my - TO BUY ASAP - list right now! September 13th is already a day of celebration for me. You have made it that much better and I really appreciate that.
Hey man nice work ! I started doing some prybar as well ! Quick question, what's that liquid you lit the prybar in at the end ? Some kind of coating or it's some patina style liquid ?! I'm mostly working with stainless steel.
I really appreciate you showing how to make one but I wish you would explain what and why you’re doing something What does the blue liquid do what is the liquid did you put the tool in that turned it black is that phosphoric acid Using the magnet to hold a metal is a cute idea thanks would never thought of it
@@philb5 ferric chloride is the acid etch and the blue is called dykem. It is just a coating like a sharpie to be able to mark the steel to see lines prior to grinding etc.
and what exactly would you need the bottle opener for? i mean, its not hard to open a bottle with the pry bar itself.... But i guess, every takticool thing out there must have one.
some people don't know how to use a leverage to open bottle, so the bottle opener still make sense, and if he measure right that hole can double as a 1/4 inch bit driver
I don't feel the need for the bottle opener either, but here's a thought: it'll keep the edge sharp. Not that it'll matter much; you'll avoid using the edge to use the bottle opener instead only 1/100 times.
@@reallyhappenings5597 It's too short to get the necessary leverage. In fact, it's too short to damage itself, so the only real question is, how much leverage can it give?

Now that is a utility tool. Simple project and the angles a pretty nice. I may make my own version...
I'm more impressed with the paper and glue holding up to all that heat

Cool idea and design. I need one of those for my shop.

Muito Legal essa ferramenta multiuso!!!!! Já estou fazendo uma igual, obrigado pela excelente dica. Uma das idéias mais inteligentes que vi!!!
I love the design and execution!
Yes, finally a small pry bar for edc!
I was getting so tired of that old tire tool poking me in the gut all day.
look at griffin pry bar
Daaaamn.... that’s so cool... I just need to get all them tools now to make my own
Good idea using the c-clamp as a backstop on the drill press. Never thought of that
Absolute amazing job well done brother..no company is doing anything close to that..no store carries anything as solid..thank you
Excellent work, well done and thanks for sharing, inspired me as I was looking for a small EDC type pocket pry bar too.

Saludos desde Argentina. Me encanta su trabajo.
Really nice work on this beautiful tool sir. It's a one if a kind work of art that you did there. Be well.
That’s a cool and lovely thing!
Someone needs to make an EDC hammer to pair up with this EDC prybar
Beautiful design nicely done
This is really awesome! What is the drill bit that you used to add a chamfer to the lanyard hole called?
A convenient carry tool for the modern burgler 😆
Awesome multi purpose tool👍👍
That punch tho!
simple yet effective.... 💪🏻
A fantastic Video❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'd have to wear it somehow. Too cool for the toolbox
What about wearing it as a necklace
Sick job dude. I will have to use that magnet trick for sure.

Great attention to detail
Super handy super impressive EDC tool

Really cool tool. Thank you for posting. What kind of file did you use for the grooves on the sides?
Search for jimping files.
Nice work!! I like it a lot will make a few to hand out to friends. Thanks for sharing.
Great job 😍
Very cool now I gotta make one
You are awesome! Hats down!
Beautiful work! What is the name of the purple gel? What product did you use for the black finish? Thank you
Thank you!
That is dykem layout fluid.I use ferric chloride to darken it.
great work. you make it look too easy.
I agree with Fred Kluever; I would buy one. Just tell me how much and where to send the money.

This is really really cool! Would you ever consider selling these? Becuase I would most definitly be interested in buying one!
Nice workmanship and design
dang i just realised i can make it with my grandpa he has all the tools and stuf , havent met him in a while i think its gonna be a new project for us.
Nicely done. That could do double duty as my fire striker too. Was that household vinegar you dipped it in?
It looks like ferric chloride, an etching acid
Tnx I was hoping it was an easily found product.🤗
Good morning AV. What type of file is that for the finger grooves and what are you using for thst BEAUTIFUL patina? What an INCREDIBLE piece this is! A true work of art!

That is checkering file that I use for grooves and ferric chloride to darken the steel.

Its ferric chloride. Not sure if it bites that good into stainless steel tho.

Voce tem otimos equipamentos ficou muito bom
Awesome!!!
nice build
What would the price be for one of those?
Awesome, idea
Awesome Work
Thank you!
Eine fantastische Arbeit !
Nice, I'd buy one.
So nice work it's amazing 🤩! What is the tool that you use for making the grooves on the side of the pry bar please??
Nice work 👍
You made it fabulous I like it much
Really nice job!
I would recommend adding a seatbelt cutter to the bottle opener part.
great tool. thanks for sharing. ps i read 830 and 200 for tempering. how much time each?
Thank you!
10min at 830C and 2h at 200C
@@AVmake thanks man :)
What kind of file did you use to put the groves on the side?
Neat! I've never seen a file like that.
If you want one search for checkering file. :)
@@adamfilimon3674 Excellent, thanks. Yeah that's something I could definitely stand to have in the toolbox. o7

Nice. What size jimping/checkering file is that?
Awesome
I have a chunk of brass I want to make into this, would you heat treat brass? By the way, way cool design
Brass is to soft, it wouldn’t work. But you can find O1 Toolsteel for about 10 bucks and it would be enough for 2-3 pieces
Would brass plating work?
Strength and style...best of both worlds

Nice little bar
What chemical did you use for blueing?
💘 LovE It
Nice!!
Pry bar? Isnt that what the flat blade thingy on my leatherman is for? :)
very nice work...
I want one!!!!!
Wow - I would absolutely buy one (for a reasonable Price… 🤔)
Where did you get the jimping file from? Or what kind of file is that called?
The steel plate at the beginning was a sick ass axe waiting to happen. Such a shame
What kind of metal is used to make pry tools?
Sin duda bello, pero peligros, esa punta y filo de formón, no aplica para destornillar y abrir latas, con menos filos era hasta más práctico
What would you estimate is the most heavy duty thing it could pry?
lock of a solid wood door
@@reallyhappenings5597 It's too short to get the necessary leverage. In fact, it's too short to damage itself, so the only real question is, how much leverage can it give?
Многофункциональная стамеска . Прикольно . 😀👍
Wow nice
What steel type, grade did you use?
hello, I love your creations. What is the product in which you dip your knives to obtain the black effect. Thanks
What did you soak it in to change the color?
a good tent stake and bottle opener, maybe. but EDC? c'mon!
Tell me about the checkering file...
