    i did mine from the side and cut the lines...way easier...use skinny heater hose lines and good clamps...super easy...have to remove gas padal but easy...tip...careful cutting around the ware harness...there is a video on here on how to do it this way...goood video.

      I know these cars aren't super expensive collectors items but I'm just not into hacking things apart and this wasn't my torrent but if it had been I might have done hack and chop just to get it back on the road or for a work car or something. The owner of the car wanted it done right so I did it this way.

    hey thanks for this video is for the best on RUclips! I recently had a head gasket, intake, radiator, all the hoses, water pump, thermostat and still losing coolant in the reservoir. No water on the floorboard only thing I could possibly think is this heater core. Was it not leaking on your floorboard prior to replacing it? Thanks

    • @royzcustomz
      @royzcustomz  5 лет назад +1

      No it wasn't leaking on the floor. There is a drain port in the fire wall and the core was rotten I guess I should have shown how bad it was. It is a very common problem with the Torrent and the equinox as well. Also I flushed the entire system out and changed it over to the standard coolant.

      @@royzcustomz oh thanks for the reply. Was it leaking on the ground, where is the drain port? Mines taking about 2 quarts of coolant every 150 miles and it's not leaking outside or inside the car. I took it to the shop were all the work has been done. It's confusing all of us. Lol

    • @royzcustomz
      @royzcustomz  5 лет назад +1

      @@jasonpanto as long as all the work was done correctly, it sounds like you may have a cracked block or head. I know that the intake gasket not being set right can be a problem. If the timing cover gasket is bad it can cause a leak as well. The water pump housing might be leaking. There are so many things to check on these 3400 engine's and if all the work isn't done right it can be like not doing it at all. I'd go ahead and sign onto the heater core and see what you find I'll almost be sure that's what it is.

    Saw a video where they cut the lines for the core and slid it out the drivers side? (Not ideal, but seems way easier).

    This was a good video prior, to guy's figuring out a much quicker way to replace the heater core. A forum is very helpful to complete this job in less than 4 hours. No dash removal,I never went to the passenger side of my '07 Equinox. No steering column removal. My old heater core was on the workbench in 1 hour.
    Truly. see this www.terrainforum.net/threads/heater-core-replacement-shortcut-4-hours.28695/

      How much cutting and chopping was involved?

    How did you get the plastc dash part off on the passenger side im having trouble with it?

    • @royzcustomz
      @royzcustomz  5 лет назад

      I had a bit of trouble with it as well, I believe that part of it pops off and then there are screws underneath. It was a long process for the entire thing and I don't remember all of it but there was parts that over lapped each other hiding the screws. Also there was some screws that was between the dash and the door, it was such a pain and I didn't record the entire process because I just wanted to show people what in all is involved in getting to the heater core so they can decide if they want to take on the task or not. It is the only way to get to it sadly.

      the condenser isn't in the way and that makes it much better to deal with when removing the heater core.
