  • Hey Ya'll, welcome to our little hobby farm. I'm thrilled you're here! I hope you'll find a comfy chair, a cup of something hot and wonderful, and spend sometime with us.
You'll typically find me in one of two places, the garden or the kitchen. Teaching and sharing this amazing world of growing your food, cooking from scratch, utilizing your harvest, and homesteading with our family, is a passion. We hope to encourage people to grow their own food, feel confident in homesteading, and live a life both messy and beautiful, because this life comes with a bit of dirt and a lot of love.
Every week you'll find us enjoying the wildness of raising a large family in the country. Welcome to the garden, to the kitchen, and to our small farm in South Carolina.
Faith is like a seed; plant it in your heart. God gives the harvest at the appointed time. (Mark 4:26-27,28-29)

I think your beds are warping like that because of the sheer length of the beds. It would’ve needed some more supports dividing the beds throughout for it not to do that.
ANYWAY, your garden is gorgeous!!! It seems to be thriving

Beautiful garden. I love the variety! I enjoy growing all the things in zone 4 to see what does best also. I look forward to future tours! Blauhilde is my favorite pole bean also. They are prolific and beautiful! Happy Growing.

Thank you! The variety is one of my favorite aspects. I truly love all the different heirloom plants you have the ability to grow. I'm also glad to hear from another blauhilde bean fan!

Your garden is amazing 🌱💚 ever imagine what would happen if you planted pole beans all around your enclosure fence😉😜

I've tried it will a smaller portion of the garden in the past, the native grass is SO aggressive in the spring and summer that it choked out the beans. Such a bummer because I love the idea!!

I have a garden motto, "the path of least resistance'. I try to make it as simple as possible and not over complicated it lol!

"It's just a smorgasbord...." I have not heard the word 'smorgasbord' in forever. That harkens back to the days of old style buffets. With that and the fact you were talking about veggies, I can't help but now think of a very large salad bar...... With plenty of ranch dressing available, of course.

Hi Natasha 🖐 everything is looking great . I can't wait for the next few garden tours as you finish your planting. I uncovered my new strawberry bed and it has hundreds of shoots that survived the winter so I'll probably split it into another raised bed as soon as I can get it built. I'll take a few pictures as i go . Im hoping for good growing weather this year (less rain no mold for berry season) . As always God bless and happy gardening everyone I'll see you next week.

I'm excited for your growing season Darren! I'll be hoping it goes great for you this year. We have a new garden pest ruining the strawberries this year unfortunately. It's called Landon. He keeps taking them the second they turn pink! Breaks my heart! LOL

    I enjoyed watching. Thank you.
Do you ever trellis your summer squash? I only have 1 scalloped squash but I’m going to tie to a tpost because of lack of space.
I’m also scared snakes will live under the foliage if on the ground including watermelon vines

My husband despises snakes, so I understand. They most certainly startle me as well from time to time out here.
I have in years past, but we get vine borers so badly out here that I prefer to grow my squash on the ground now. Squash plants will continue to put roots down along the vine as it grows if it is grown on the ground. This gives me more of an opportunity to get more squash if the vine borers attack and damage the plant because it can grow those roots and basically save itself. When I would grow them on a trellis, if vine borers struck, I was out of luck.

@@ShepherdingPeppersFarm oh we get them terribly here in Texas too. Succession planting is helpful in beating the SVB as well. It’s only my 2nd season.
