Hey there. Im a new subscriber. Came from the Hollars.... I literally search for them everyday. I love their story and now your story too. I will definitely stay subscribed for years! Looking fwd to bing watching to catch up on your channel. I have 1 Q for you... How easy/hard was it to find work once moving to NC?
Don't let age or disability stop you. I started my journey as a single 50+ yo woman with rheumatoid arthritis...14 years later I'm still going strong and my RA is totally controlled ....theres not much I can't do.
Wow, sometimes RUclips’s algorithm produces beautiful gems such as this. You’re an amazing storyteller. This is the first one we’ve watched. Can’t wait to catch up on your experiences. Be very proud of all you’re accomplishing and what is yet to come. Waving from our 2 acres of clay in Caldwell, County in NC.
Beautiful! Together you two got this! Proud of you! 🥰from a 66 yr old So.Cal. grandmother. Time goes by so fast. Building something together makes a marriage stronger.🙏❤️
I found you through your recent video about YT earnings and now here I am. I got so emotional watching this for some reason. It's crazy to me how quickly you've done so much!
What a cool video! My wife and I enjoyed it very much. The Hollar's brought us to your channel and what a blessing! Thanks again for the video and we'll be looking forward to even more!
What a cool recap. I think you'll be glad that you compiled the footage and memories while they are fresh; sometimes the details fade with time. It will be nice for you to look back on. Sometimes I think that we aren't getting anything done and then I'll come across a stray picture and will be reminded of some progress I had forgotten about. That's comforting and encouraging. It will also be a good video for folks new to the channel later, for them to understand your "context". Hope you're having (or had?) a nice time in a warm climate this week!
I totally agree & im glad you liked it! That’s why I’m trying to film everything, I absolutely adore lookin back on memories & this whole process is so magical and so much work I don’t ever want to forget it. I made this our channel trailer so new friends can see it first thing☺️
Aww thank you for coming to our channel & subscribing! We appreciate it very much 🥹 the Hollars are too nice! They invited me & took the extra time to teach me the whole process. I’m grateful to have them as neighbors & friends☺️
Just when I thought I couldnt possibly subscribe to another homestead channel, here I am via Holler Homestead, I loved this intro to your channel and am excited for you both. What a nice score, a big house and eight acres. Continued blessings of abundance and wisdom
Great story and great storytelling! I am paralyzed and live in my wheelchair; however, I dream of my wife and I moving to some property, buying a compact tractor, and creating a little homestead. Best of luck and looking forward to more videos and updates.
I saw you on The Hollar Homestead. Welcome to NC. I’m in Kings Mtn near Charlotte. I can’t wait to binge watch your channel. Good luck with your homestead.
YOU GUYS ARE SO COOL AND INSPIRATIONAL!!! Wowow Eric and I loved watching this. Thank you for sharing your journey!!!❤ Also fort chimkem, I LOVE THAT😂😂😂
I’m glad you guys liked it! This video has me in my feels everytime I watch it 😆😅 Someone suggested we call it the ChickInn but fort chimken just really stuck😂
Oh, Dang. Congratulations. You have done a lot in six months. you both are rock stars.... And don't forget to take your great down time. Love each other. Have faith.. You Both will go far. God Bless
This is utterly amazing to watch and your writing, oh, my- fantastic! I think you two will do well because you’ve done it all well already, and no reason it should stop.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s incredible! This gives me inspiration in the future that I can do this too. It’s hard to imagine having full time jobs and also running a homestead. It seeing that y’all are doing it gives me lots of inspiration
We won't lie & say it's not hard work! But it feels so worth it & we seriously believe if we can do it, then you can, too! I think you just reallllly have to pick and choose what you want to focus on one project at a time so that you can give it the attention it deserves. Things take longer when you also have a full time job - but they eventually get done & you feel sooo proud! I say go for it when you can!
It is my belief that a considerable amount of U Tube viewers are either too old or those who physically cannot do the work needed to live out their dream as homesteaders. I fit both categories. Watching videos like yours allow me to see the the joy and the struggles making your dream come true. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I look forward to watching you all grow. You have come along way. I celebrate you both and your dream. Be careful and take it a bit slower. Remember to enjoy the journey! Blessings from your new viewer
After listening to your story, I was so happy that you have followed your heart. I am 77 years old and live in SE Illinois. I have always followed my heart (in different ways) but I love the earth and I still grow a little kitchen garden (which I have just put to bed for the winter). I am an avid fan of homesteading channels and will certainly be watching for your posts. I love Hollar Homestead channel and I guess I live vicariously through them (and with you too). Much love to you and your husband. Till we meet again.
We’re so happy to have you here! Thanks so much for coming over to our channel! Glad to hear your story & that you see we’re just trying to pursue our dreams because that’s truly what we’re here for!❤️☺️
Great job- we have a 1.8 acre homestead- spent 20 years planning and planting. We picked over 200 lbs of cherries this year! Just from our 4 Nanking bushes and 1 lg cherry tree. Plus we have Apples 5 varieties, 2 different pears, 1 peach and 2 nectarines. Oh and we had a bumper crop of Concord grapes- over 200 lbs over a 3 weeks. I have 2 juice steamers- they are a must! Oh I forgot to mention red raspberries and lg thornless blackberries. We have over 20 laying hens that inhabit our orchard surrounded by electric poultry fence. Keeps the fox, coyotes etc out of the yard. Blessings to you on your adventure.
Wow this popped up for me today and i thought can i be bothered to watch all of this ? I clicked and now im at the end and wishing there was more .i loved it .your stamina, your vision ,your hard work and progress .just wow.very ,very well done .i wish you success with all your plans and dreams but sure you dont need my good wishes.congratulations on all you have achieved .
Congratulations! I'm glad you found "HOME" after all its not easy. You've done a lot and I'm sure it will triple by the time the 1St anniversary comes around.
Wow! That is great! I'm so happy for you getting out of the Detroit area! I moved to Texas from Michigan in 1981, have lived there ever since. Best thing I ever did and this move for you was the best thing you ever did! I love your house, it was worth the work to fix it! Beautiful brick house. Your gardens are absolutely gorgeous with the layout and soft colors. I subscribed so I can follow you! Good luck with everything!
Yes, we're both from west michigan (he's from GR area and I'm from a teeny rural town a bit north of there) and neither of us loved detroit area at all. Thank you so much for following along and for the sweet comment!
I can't believe you guys have done all of that in only 6 months. I feel like a slacker, and I bough raw land in upstate SC, build my own house (mostly by myself), while living in an RV with my wife and three big dogs, while also starting a food forest and working a full time job with a 2-hour round trip commute, but it has taken me 2 years so far, and I'm nowhere near where you are. Its awesome that you guys have a common goal and work together to achieve it.
Don't feel like a slacker! Doing this stuff, especially on your own, is SO much work. That commute is rough! Taylor commutes about 45 mins each way, too, and I don't know how he does that. Best of luck to you!
Watching you guys exhausts me. You have so much energy. You are doing such a great job. We recently moved from our 25 acre homestead we had been on for 23 years. We now have 50 acres🎉 but we are starting from scratch. Going slow but steady. Considering we are 72 years young I think we are making progress but it is slow going. I really enjoyed watching the beginning of your journey.
I won't lie and say we don't get exhausted, we do! But we have a lot of passion for what we're doing. thank you for watching! Sounds like you're doing a ton, too. Slow & steady is the best way!
Love the name of Calico Cow! After watching your video I have subscribed! Good luck and look forward to seeing more, much more! A fan from Mississippi.
Thank you! We wanted to name our homestead after our kitties because they just mean the world to us. 😌 thank you so much for subscribing and for your sweet comment!☺
I was watching Ben and Megan's channel about their pig class and they were thanking you for recording it. They also gave a shout out for your channel and here I am. I absolutely loved your timelapse and cannot wait to see your progress on the homestead. So glad to meet your two.
Hey, if it's not the chicken-pucker from the Hollar Homestead. Well you two have done a lot and I am sure will do much more. I have been there and done that, but at 82 I enjoy watching others do the work, haha. I am currently looking for another place and it helps keep my juices going watching the young ones. Good vid, I will be watching and playing catch-up. Take care and rub each others back when the muscles get sore. One step a day takes you to the next row, so you can keep planting. Enjoy.
Hey there! Yepp that’s me👋🏼 I don’t blame ya for wanting to watch others do the work😆 I enjoy watching other channels for motivation, too! Thanks so so much for watching & coming to check out our channel. We appreciate it & the sweet comment! ❤️☺️
I loved the sound. Sweet couple, your actives together is so special. I enjoyed doing things with my husband. Now, we try to keep up with medical appointments. We are in our 70's. We built our 1st house in rural Louisiana but the employment was nothing much for changing jobs. He got a job in a city and we moved here and there. We own nearly 2 acres in a fast growing town. We keep it wooded and natural for us and wildlife. Being active in gardening has passed for us as well as building. You videos are sweet. We enjoy youtube in seeing others sharing their lives. I love garlic. I can try it on my deck.
We adore doing things together! It's our favorite part of the day when work is done & we get to work on projects together :) I think there's something to be said about leaving your land natural and just enjoying it ~ we can't wait to make some trails through our woods to go on walks and just take in the nature (without tripping over downed trees and pricker bushes haha) Thank you for the sweet comment & we're glad you're enjoying our videos!
Congratulations on your hard work, determination, and being such good people that other good people were inspired to help you. Bravo! May God bless you & protect you, & inspire you in your journey to create a homestead that feeds your vision and your bellies! I'm not sure why I cried watching people I don't know overcome tremendous challenges as they tried to create a future for themselves...other than the Hope it gives that there are still some Americans willing to work hard to achieve something of lasting value & self sufficiency. Thank you for sharing your struggles & victories. I'll be watching! ❤
What a great story, it’s so nice to know that I’m sane, I keep trying to get my spouse to quite our lives in the city and move to our property off grid so we can grow our own food, new subby
I think so many people gravitate to this lifestyle because we as humans have an underlying need to focus on our food and be in nature - it's how it's always been in the past. I don't necessarily believe self-sustainability should be an initial goal because I think we will always need others in the form of community, but I think you can totally start small & start implementing homesteading in bits and pieces where you are. That's what I did when we lived with our friend/apartments & eventually taylor started to come around to the idea. And now he's just as into this lifestyle as I am! Best of luck to you! :)
Way to go! you got so much done in just six months! I love your garden design, can't wait to see what you guys do with the coming years on your homestead, new subscriber here :) Just to let you in on a secret, a lot of us homesteaders have to work so we can afford our homesteads, it's ok, it's the reward at the end of the day, instead of coming home to a little postage stamp of a yard in suburbia, you get to come home and wander through your garden or the woods, destress with your animals. It's a great life!
I really love hearing this. It isn't the cool thing to discuss "non-homestead" jobs and I don't want people to think this is impossible if they do have a job because most homesteaders on social media don't talk about it. It is normal, though! I want people to know they can do this, too!
I want to move south SO bad!! I live in flat NE Ohio and want trees and hills, warm weather and sunshine! We have chickens, turkeys, a garden and a pond here on my 3 acres. We have so much work to do still, but in the winter I'm no good outside. And the kids keep us pretty busy in the summer with sports. I think it would go much better if we had friends too! Best wishes.
Not sure how you ended up on my feed but just finished watching this video and fell in love with what you all are doing. Thanking you for sharing your journey! New subscriber!
I loved watching your journey me and my little family want a homestead so bad! Watching your video made me kind of emotional 😂 but so excited and happy for you and it’s kind of turned my thoughts around on getting into a place that needs lots of tlc I wish we could hear about costs on things in video so we can create pictures
Just found you guys from Ben and Megs channel! What a beautiful property you guys have! Amazed by all the work you have already done!! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
Hi, new watcher, subscriber, and yes I rang the bell... saw you harvesting chickens on the Hollar Homestead. I'll be a regular watcher, now. Good luck, may God Bless You!
I enjoyed your story, I came over from The Hollar Homestead. I live and travel full time in my van and I also do a RUclips channel about my adventures. Looking forward to more videos about your homestead.
This isn’t a hard luck story! This is a good luck story! Not sure what job or pay your husband does but he obviously has some skills to get these job offers. Nice story. I found it endearing and nice to listen to. It is funny how people who are willing to take calculated chances and put the work in can create a good life for themselves. Enjoy this and future adventures…
We just saw your recap… you have been on quite a journey. Congrats on finding your home and passion! We’ll look forward to following you on your videos. ~Two Doves Bees
Hello I saw you on another channel ( I watch them all the time but can’t think of their name, you were helping kill the chickens 🐓) Anyway I very much enjoyed your first 6 months!! I look forward to all you offer in videos. I liked this one and thought it was awesome!! Maggie
Saw ya helpin the Hollar’s and thought I’d check your channel out, y’all have been busy ! My wife and I are currently revitalizing part the property her family has owned for generations in Oregon ! We are a little older than y’all but have the same spirit and ambition. Good luck to us all 😉👍God bless
Thanks so much for checking out our channel! How cool is it to have a property passed down through generations?! Maybe someday our kids will still be at this property. That would be so neat. Best of luck to you guys, too!❤️
You guys rock, I just love you and what you do, especially because it's so aligned to what wife and I are planning soon; am new to the channel and enjoying the videos, and learning a lot. Please consider having longer videos, for example this video could have been a good 2 hour detailed video and I bet you it would still get many views, even if fewer views but the watch time would definitely be great. Perhaps you can test this by having shorter and longer versions for some of your videos. Some of us really don't mind those extreme levels of visual details, beyond just you talking through the highlights quickly. Love you guys, more grace and blessings from South Africa.
Thank you! Honestly, I'd love to put out longer videos, but we don't have the appropriate technology to do so. My laptop is a decade old, barely hanging on, and the screen is partially broken. It can barely handle editing 20 minute videos. Maybe in the future we'll be able to upgrade and do longer form content. I'm with you though, I loveee to watch longer videos!
Interesting info about the brush cutter. We live in SW MO and have Multiflora EVERYWHERE along with Virginia Creeper. Trying to eliminate the Multiflora by hand is next to impossible.
We will definitely be renting it again to do other parts of the property. The rental was worth it’s weight in gold! It was a local place we rented from but they were a husqvarna dealer & sunbelt rentals also had them (hope that helps!) the multi flora rose is everywhere on our land too. I’m so scarred up from it! I will say, I did the whole chicken coop area by hand & the tree loppers were my best friend. They worked best for me + wearing long sleeve/overalls!
ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THIS VIDEO: HEY GUYS, I KNOW THE MUSIC IS LOUD AND I AM VERY SORRY. I'M STILL NEW TO EDITING & HAVE AN ANCIENT COMPUTER THAT LEADS ME ASTRAY WITH MY SOUND SOMETIMES. Great video! Don't stress the small stuff. 🌻

I didn't notice the loud music until I read this! LOL
Can’t please everyone all the time that being said I thought it was a great video and well narrated!

You kids are out of this world. I wish I was younger and not disabled. The best of luck.
Aww this is sweet of you! Thank you! 🥰
Have to find your Village! ❤
Same disabled and old, what a dream your living.
Don't let age or disability stop you. I started my journey as a single 50+ yo woman with rheumatoid arthritis...14 years later I'm still going strong and my RA is totally controlled ....theres not much I can't do.
I think alot of us who are disabled are grateful to vicariously live through people like you and the Hollars...
Welcome to my rotation 🎉

Well done you two! You have achieved so much. Interesting story you have to tell.
Hello from Australia
Thank you! Anytime someone asks me our “story” I’m just going to send them this video because it’s obviously way too difficult to explain in person😂

Wow this is awesome! So much produce! We are stoked for the day that we will be harvesting from our own fruit trees and bushes, too!
I am loving your positive attitude and the ability to stick to something that could be overwhelming!
Thank you! We definitely try to keep our eyes on the big picture😊

Aww thank you so much!!!
Com9ng over from the Hollars.
Thank you for coming to check out our channel!❤️
Congratulations! I'm glad you found "HOME" after all its not easy. You've done a lot and I'm sure it will triple by the time the 1St anniversary comes around.
Thank you! We’re definitely here plugging away at projects one day at a time🫶🏼
Brilliant you guys! Congratulations on your property and finally settling. Good luck and God bless
Thanks so much!
Amazing journey! ❤ Such an inspiration!
Glad you liked the video! Thank you for watching 🥰🥰
What an awesome and amazing job you’ve done! Very inspiring ❤
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video🥰
Ohhh this is so sweet. Thank you for this lovely comment & it’s nice to meet you, too. Happy to have you here!❤️
Love your story. Follow your dreams when you are young. It makes a big difference.
Thank you! And yes, we’re SO happy we got on track towards our dreams so early in life! ❤️
I saw you on the holler homestead helping with the chickens. REally enjoyed your video and subbed!!!! Great job so far.
Thank you so much for coming over to our channel! I’m so so happy you’re enjoying it🥰🥰 thanks for subbing!
Im excited to watch your journey unfold. Fun watching young kids living out a dream and putting in all the work.
We’re so happy to have you here! Thanks for watching & thank you for such a nice comment ☺️
Love this so so much, I am so envious, I cannot wait till this becomes my reality
Thank you! We know that feeling too well & that period of longing. Felt that way for years😞! We’re hoping you find your “home” soon! 😌❤️ best of luck!
Amazing journey that still has many roads to travel. You're both living the life many of us wish we could live. Wishing you both continued success
Thank you so much!😄
Living the life! So happy for you both; what magic! Enjoy 😊
We truly are! Thanks so much!!!
thanks so much! this is such a nice comment. thanks for watching!
@@calicocowacres thank you and I thank you absolutely right about that, thank you I need Ed a reminder of that
That was a big job you accomplished together great work again 💪
It''s definitely been quite the project! Thank you!😄
Way to go! you got so much done in just six months!
A true modern time love story ❤❤❤
Love the narration
thank you :)
I know that feeling too well. Michigan was tough for me! It does sound like you have a good setup there, though! Best of luck to you, too!
Not sure how you ended up on my feed but just finished watching this video and fell in love with what you all are doing. Thanking you for sharing your journey! New subscriber!
Awesome! Thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed this!!! I can’t wait to watch the journey!!
so glad you liked it! Thanks for being here :)
Ur blessed , it won't always seem that way, but don't give up. Keep ur faith.
Nothing like a southern sunset!
Agreed! It’s just a different kind of beautiful!
Thanks for stopping over from their channel! Happy to have you. We think there’s so much potential here, too ☺️❤️

@@calicocowacres ❤️
I'm over from Hollar Homestead. You did great filming for them I'm excited to watch you now too
Hello! Thanks for stopping by😊 we’re happy to have you here!
This is such a kind comment. Thank you so much for watching!
We just saw your recap… you have been on quite a journey. Congrats on finding your home and passion! We’ll look forward to following you on your videos. ~Two Doves Bees

Glad you enjoyed it!
You guys are so creative! Blessings to you guys!
thank you!
Best of luck to you guys, too!❤️
My husband and I are Mi born and raised. We live in Cary, NC since 2019 and we are getting ready to move back to Cheboygan, Mi to homestead!
Oh boy you're moving way up there haha I love it up towards the lakeshore in those areas! Best of luck on your new homestead!!!
Wow what a great story and adventure for you lovely young couple. New follower!!
Thanks for following along! We appreciate you☺
