  • Tune in for a review of the Haveston line of fabric NATO style watch straps coming in a variety of weaves and materials. I've been wearing these single-pass straps for a few months and there are definitely some noteworthy features about this wristwatch accessories brand and these products that make them stand out from the pack-- although they aren't perfect and I touch on that too. In my search for the perfect NATO and ZULU strap these ones certainly have some features that are improved. What are your go-to NATO straps?

    Thank you for featuring us! We have been long time followers of the channel, and it was a pleasure to share some of our designs with you.
    Regarding the Canvas straps, they do indeed have a higher profile than most NATOs, particularly around the reinforced holes. We found that on some timepieces with tighter lug clearance, pulling through can catch on the holes causing some fraying. If the bars are installed over the strap, or if curved bars are used, the fraying is greatly reduced. For the floating keeper height, we wanted to retain the option of tucking back under it (mainly for the smallest wrist sizes where the tail might actually overhang the timepiece otherwise). Lastly, we have also been considering closely the buckle style transition relative to the flexibility of the strap material as the machined version curves more.
    We’re always looking to refine and improve our products and look forward to sharing more designs with you soon!

    I have 3 of them; the M22, the Carrier and the Redstone. Very comfortable on my 71/2” wrist. I like them , so far I have not tried the Canvas version and I agree with you on the Buckle prong or whatever it’s called!

    Great review thank you. I am very impressed with Haveston Canvas Straps in particular. Not having to fold the canvas is brilliant ! I'll be ordering a couple soon

    Very well made video. Neutral honest opinion. Love the nato strap with single pass and no need to fold over the strap. Great for guys with small wrists like me. Thanks for the upload.

    1) It is pronounced Hav-es-ton. 2) it's not a NATO but a ZULU. One piece pass thru is a Zulu. They started with typical NYLON Zulus. Having had 3 of them from the outset the canvas are immensely better, more comfortable, and highly durable I have one I have not taken off in a year it's faded as one would expect given showering etc. The stitching is superb. the tins originally did not have hinges they improved that and are helpful for storing things when travelling and very secure. You cannot go wrong with the canvas. They are working on a PVD canvas range.

    I bought the M-1944C STRAP & The Quarterdeck strap for almost a year now. The quality is just the best but I agree with the fraying which drives me nuts as well but they warn you about it before buying. Just use a match or lighter to seal that fraying. It's quite pricey especially here in Canada with the tax & import stuff but it's worth the price. I really enjoy the Haveston straps & would recommend it to others.

    Best canvas ZULU straps I have found thus far is Uncle Seiko canvas reinforced straps. The only con is that you can not pull them through your spring bars.

    I'm thinking about getting the canvas, but my wrist are 6.5" and I'm worried about the sliding keeper moving letting the extra strap stick out. Also, I believe it's called a tang.

      You would have a lot of tail with a 6.5 inch wrist.

    You need to check steveo straps, he’s a lone workman and his straps are the best I’ve ever worn

    I’m allergic to the nylon. Is the canvas cotton? Do they do leather? The more I watch this video I can see a new addiction starting.

    Hmm, I tried a bunch of Havestons like those. For me, they didn't work out - the double layer side on the outside (north of the watch) made it sit really uncomfortably on the wrist; it was too rigid to curve properly (without pulling the strap stupidly tight). Because of that, for actual wearing, I find regular natos far more preferable.
    P.S. The canvas straps started to fray for me pretty much on day 1. Not good.

    • @555Gear
      @555Gear  5 лет назад

      Good feedback, maybe it has something to do with the shape or the type of watch?

    • @ElijsDima
      @ElijsDima 5 лет назад

      @@555Gear Tbh not really - that happened on all my watches. Admittedly, the lug2lug is usually a bit less than my wrist width - so the "top side" needs to curve pretty much exactly where the end-stitching of the doublelayer underpiece was... and ofc, the stitched part is the most rigid place on the whole strap, so it needing to be right above the top lugs is imo not good design.
