KAAN has fly-by-wire control system and all the flight control computer, its software, actuators etc. are designed and manufactured indigenously by TAI, Tubitak Bilgem and some other local companies/institutes.. As for the "flapping" of the horizontal stabilizers during take off, the pilot advised that it was due to flight computer's intervention to provide a stable slow take off and it worked just as it should.
Remember, this was the maiden flight of KAAN and it was very very smooth. If you like you can compare it with the similar maiden flights of F-22, F-16, Saab Gripen, etc. I will be glad if you can do a comparison video :P

A lot has changed since the first flights of the F22, F16 and SAAB Gripen. Unfortunately, comparing KAAN's maiden flight with these is quite absurd. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the value of the flight. Ending the flight with a smooth take-off and landing is a milestone.

I don't the F-16 for ukraine thing doesn't come down to politics at all, it's basically the only fighter anyone can give to them in a reasonable time that has an adequate training/maintenance/parts/etc logistics set up. Nevermind the actual air frames. Gripens are so low production it would probably take 20 years for Ukraine to get 30, and god forbid a part breaks, meanwhile F-16s can be shipped over right away and they're ubiquitous

    • @angela1984a
      @angela1984a 5 месяцев назад

You're probably right about the Gripen. The X-factor here is the Swedish NATO-membership though... As I understand it Sweden could __maybe__ send perhaps 18 Gripens when Sweden becomes a member of NATO. And Sweden could perhaps become a NATO member this week or the the next. But what about the F-18Cs? Doesn't the US has plenty of those to send? And it seems like France has plenty of Mirage 2000s. But the crux is that UKR could probably use around 200 fighter jets in total... But a mix of F-16, Gripens, Mirage 2000s and F-18Cs could perhaps amount to that...

What is your Best BFM move you get to chose from three:
    High Yo-Yo:
Description: The High Yo-Yo is a vertical maneuver used to gain position and energy advantage over the opponent. It involves pulling up sharply while tightening the turn to increase altitude and decelerate, followed by a quick reversal to come down on the adversary.
Execution: Pull the nose up sharply to climb while maintaining energy, then roll the aircraft to point towards the target's flight path. Once in position, execute a quick roll and dive down to engage or disengage as needed.
    Low Yo-Yo:
Description: The Low Yo-Yo is a horizontal maneuver used to gain position behind the opponent by using energy efficiently. It involves dropping below the target's flight path, then rolling and pulling up to reposition for a gun or missile shot.
Execution: Descend below the target's flight path to build speed and energy, then roll and pull up to gain altitude and position behind the adversary. This maneuver allows for a quick and effective attack from the rear.
    Slicing Yo-Yo:
Description: The Slicing Yo-Yo is a combination of vertical and horizontal maneuvers that can confuse and out maneuver the opponent. It involves a rapid series of high-G turns and altitude changes to disrupt the adversary's flight path.
Execution: Initiate a high-speed turn towards the opponent, then quickly transition into a climb or descent while maintaining the turn. Vary the altitude and direction of the turns to out maneuver the enemy and gain a firing solution.

    PART 1
Given the real possibility of BFM with the SU 35, the F16 would benefit greatly from 3D thrust vectoring, the F110 engine is a candidate for this modification within the Ukraine theatre.
Modification of F110 Turbojet Engine for 3D Thrust Vectoring Upgrade
    Introduction
The F110 turbojet engine is a powerful and widely used engine in military aircraft, known for its reliability, efficiency, and performance. Incorporating 3D thrust vectoring capabilities into the F110 engine can enhance aircraft maneuverability, agility, and overall performance. This document outlines the modifications required to integrate 3D thrust vectoring technology into the F110 turbojet engine.
    Understanding 3D Thrust Vectoring
3D thrust vectoring refers to the ability to control the direction of the engine's exhaust gases in three dimensions: pitch, yaw, and roll. By dynamically adjusting the direction of thrust, aircraft can achieve enhanced maneuverability, allowing for tighter turns, improved stability, and better control during flight.
    Modification Process
    Nozzle Design
The primary modification required for incorporating 3D thrust vectoring into the F110 engine involves redesigning the engine's exhaust nozzle. The new nozzle design should allow for independent control of thrust in multiple directions.
    Actuation System
An actuation system needs to be integrated into the engine to control the orientation of the exhaust nozzle. This system should be capable of precise and rapid adjustments to enable real-time control of thrust vectoring.
    Control Mechanism
A sophisticated control mechanism is essential to manage the 3D thrust vectoring system effectively. This mechanism should receive input from the aircraft's flight control system and translate it into commands for the actuation system to adjust thrust direction accordingly.
    Structural Reinforcement
The modifications may require structural reinforcement of certain engine components to withstand the additional forces exerted during thrust vectoring maneuvers. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and stress testing should be conducted to ensure the engine's integrity under all operating conditions.
    Thermal Management
Thrust vectoring can increase the temperature and pressure within the engine, necessitating improvements in thermal management systems to prevent overheating and maintain optimal operating conditions.
PART 2 F110 Thrust Vectoring Modification
    Integration with Aircraft Systems
The modified engine must be seamlessly integrated with the aircraft's avionics and flight control systems to ensure compatibility and synchronized operation. Close collaboration between engine manufacturers and aircraft manufacturers is essential during this phase.
    Benefits of 3D Thrust Vectoring
Enhanced Maneuverability: Aircraft equipped with 3D thrust vectoring can execute complex maneuvers with greater precision and agility, making them more effective in combat scenarios.
Improved Stability: Thrust vectoring enables finer control over the aircraft's attitude, resulting in enhanced stability and responsiveness, particularly at high angles of attack.
Increased Survivability: The ability to rapidly change thrust direction can help evade threats and enhance the aircraft's survivability in hostile environments.
Expanded Mission Capabilities: With 3D thrust vectoring, aircraft can perform a wider range of missions, including air-to-air combat, close air support, and reconnaissance, with greater flexibility and effectiveness.
    Conclusion
Incorporating 3D thrust vectoring technology into the F110 turbojet engine offers significant advantages in terms of aircraft performance and capability. By implementing the necessary modifications outlined in this document, military aircraft equipped with the F110 engine can achieve unparalleled maneuverability and agility, enhancing their operational effectiveness in various mission scenarios. Collaboration between engine manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, and defense agencies is crucial to successfully integrate 3D thrust vectoring into existing and future aircraft platforms powered by the F110 engine.

    Testing and Validation:
Conducting rigorous testing and validation procedures on prototype improvements is essential to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance gains of the enhanced engine design.
By focusing on these areas of improvement, the F110 F-16 turbojet engine can be upgraded to meet modern aviation requirements, enhance operational capabilities, and remain competitive in the evolving aerospace
Improving the F110 engine, which powers the F-16 fighter jet, involves a multidisciplinary approach encompassing aerodynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and mechanical engineering.
Part 2 The Report and Solution
Enhancing Performance of the F110 Engine for the F-16 Fighter Jet
    Introduction:
The F110 engine is a critical component of the F-16 fighter jet, providing thrust and power for mission success. Enhancing the engine's performance, efficiency, and reliability through advanced technologies and engineering strategies is essential to stay competitive in modern aviation requirements.
    Proposed Improvements:
    1. Thrust Enhancement:
Improving the engine's thrust output can enhance the F-16's speed and maneuverability.
The thrust equation is given by:
    [ F_{thrust} = \dot{m} \cdot (V_{out} - V_{in}) + (P_{exit} - P_{in}) \cdot A_{exit} ]
    where:
    ( \dot{m} ) = Mass flow rate
    ( V_{out} ) = Exit gas velocity
    ( V_{in} ) = Inlet air velocity
    ( P_{exit} ) = Exit pressure
    ( P_{in} ) = Inlet pressure
    ( A_{exit} ) = Exit area
    2. Efficiency Optimization:
Enhancing the engine's thermal efficiency can increase performance and reduce fuel consumption. The efficiency (( \eta )) of the engine is given by:
    [ \eta = \frac{W_{out}}{Q_{in}} = \frac{H_{in} - H_{out}}{H_{in}} \times 100% ]
    where:
    ( W_{out} ) = Work output
    ( Q_{in} ) = Heat input
    ( H_{in} ) = Enthalpy at inlet
    ( H_{out} ) = Enthalpy at outlet
    3. Durability Enhancement:
Improving engine durability involves optimising material selection and heat management. The thermal stress (( \sigma )) in engine components can be calculated using:
    [ \sigma = \frac{T \cdot L}{R} ]
    where:
    ( T ) = Temperature
    ( L ) = Length of the component
    ( R ) = Radius of the component
    Conclusion:
Enhancing the F110 engine for the F-16 fighter jet requires a comprehensive approach that addresses thrust output, efficiency, durability, and environmental impact. By implementing advanced engineering principles, materials science, and aerodynamic optimisations, the F110 engine can be upgraded to meet the demands of modern aviation while improving performance and reliability.
This report provides a high-level overview of potential improvements to the F110 engine for the F-16 fighter jet, incorporating mathematical principles to illustrate the concepts involved. Actual improvements would require detailed analysis, testing, and collaboration across various engineering disciplines to achieve the desired enhancements.

    Good episode as always :)
    Some topics.
Political. Europe might not have US baking after your next election. Huge concerne and Europe is scrambling to ramp up production of arms. Also Not all of Europe is on the same page, But for now Ukraine is the line in the sand. If you ask me, can we let Ukraine down now ? Would be a shitty move.
The battle space: Anything to push back the russian reach is key, but attacks inside Russia is still a hot potato. I my view this is only a fight because Russia have the nuclear option. Will Russia just turn and burn all if loosing ? They take out space and drop a couple of tac nukes and call it a day.
The Tron war by Russia is in full war mode, but that is so far not treated as an "attack" on Nato".
We are tip toeing with an aggressor that do not respond. In Iraq, easy, he was no real threat. This time different.
To resolve this Russia needs to pick up the phone.
Somebody needs to reach out to the Russian people and tell then that peace is better than war.
Current Russian leadership threw 30 years of progress under the bus in a day.
But human nature, 1 step forward and 50 back. So sad.

Guys don't worry, you just portrayed the Kaan in a good light with no bad intentions. Just know that little kids are on the internet, even if they're not kids there are a lot of idiots with poor English skills on the internet from Balkans/Middle East that can't understand what you are talking about, so just ignore them in the comments.

I might be a old soul or something but why use auto throttle sounds like manual is the way to go, manual sounds a little more labor intensive but more connected to the jet. Never did it before though so I know nothing cool to learn about though.

You could actually look at training programs and pounding Bold Face Check-lists deep into your being as an attempt to produce a positive outcome bias. Then, if all else fails ... enjoy being a test pilot.

Not sure the Mig-29 provides any useful capabilities to Ukraine. They need an aircraft that can conduct stand-off attacks, SEAD/DEAD and reach out long range AA. That may be why they didn’t get the grippen; it may the the weapons systems that the capabilities they need/want are more associated with the Viper (as well as availability of those weapons)

Given the cost of running fighter jets, is the salary of fighter pilots really going to move the needle? I know there is probably a hundred people per pilot involved in keeping a jet flying but if I was running an airforce I would make sure the pilots are payed enough to make sure they stay.
