Roy would be 87 in 2023 If he had lived. I'd hate to see Roy still dying his hair. But he might have. LOL! I just love the guy and his voice beyond measure!

Roy was world famous but anonymous at the same time, a huge run of singles from 1960-63, but no pictures of him on his record sleeves and rare TV apperences.
The dark hair and sunglasses came in mid 63 towards the end of his big career, by 65 his record sales were dwindling fast.
All his reissue albums and singles from his early day were reissued with later photos.
Strange how his image as we know him today came towards the end of his big success.
He always had blonde hair and didn't wear any glasses on stage or TV until 63 and even then it was a big turn off for a pop star to be wearing glasses, I'm guessing that's the reason for dark prescription sunglasses.
John lennon had terrible eye sight and only started wearing glasses around 66

I love all kinds of music and i love to dance but when it comes to Roy i just want to listen to him sing. He had such an incredible voice. He could just slide for one range to another without any effort. He was a very humble man. The world was blessed to have him. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Funny anecdote about Roy trying to give Only The Lonely to his buddy Elvis who blew him off and didn’t even take a listen. While it would have been great to hear an Elvis rendition, we’re lucky Roy recorded it himself because it launched his career into success.

You feel sorrow speaking to him? I only feel happiness, and actually joy, in listening to his unpretentious, completely humble nature. What a sweet man, un-damaged by success, honestly plying his trade who cares and loves his family. One of the few who is as great a human as he is an artist.

"This close to Roy's demise". The sadness it due to the fact this interview was replayed shortly after Roy's death and Glen made the fresh introduction to it we hear.
Even so, he goes on to say "the joy of our appreciation of Roy's magnificent recorded legacy will carry us through".
      I'd have thought that's pretty self-explanatory.
Glen is Australian and I remember listening to this program here in Aus when it played something like a week or so after Roy died.

His memory for when he played and who with is quite outstanding. I saw him with the Rolling Stones and the same crowd was quiet with Roy and standing , shouting with the Stones.

l heard the only time Roy lost his cool is when he returned to the town he grew up in Wink, Texas for a benefit of sorts. The people who accompanied him were amazed how much anger was welled-up inside him. Why ? He won't say.

I haven't heard that story. Where did you hear it at?? I can understand Roy's anger, because of the humiliation and verbal abuse he was subjected to by classmates growing up in Wink. One of the stud football players once told him Roy's face looked like his as*. And this older bully nick named him "factus." And according to classmates of his, this name stuck for quite awhile. Roy even signed one of his friends year books as, "factus." ... He even had to fight at least once when he'd had enough of the bullying. They said he wasn't afraid, what he'd had enough, he'd fight! So I can see why he had all this anger.
