I never met Roy Orbison, but saw him in concert in Austin, Texas on Auditorium shores music venue, 4 months before his death in 1988. My writing partner and I thought he'd make a great subject for a bio-pic on his life. We got in touch with Barbara Orbison and Joe Melson who owned almost all of Roy's recordings. They were hip about it, so we started writing a screenplay. Along the way, greed instead of need took over and our work was halted. Barbara called me while I was driving, I pulled over and we had a heart to heart about the movie being made. Then SHE died at 60 and her sons took over the project to no avail because of legal bullshit that may never be sorted out. There may still be a picture on his life and I'm sad to say I won't be a part of it. God bless Roy Orbison and his place in music history.
It's a crying shame and sacrilege that Roy's grave isn't marked. No gravestone is big enough to pay tribute to the massive talent, soulful voice and sheer stage presence of Roy. End of the Line by the Travelling Wilburys showed his guitar rocking in the chair as his vocals sounded alongside his picture, which ensured an emotional experience. He was just amazing, I loved him
I never knew about all the tragedies Roy endured, or that he passed at only 52. Awesome voice! Grew up with his music in the 50s and onward and still love it ! ❤
As Elvis once said at Roy’s show THE BEST SINGER EVER all Roy’s songs were really true meaning full songs I grew up listening to Roy he was called home too soon who is still playing Roy’s music today in 2024 R.I.P.Roy🇬🇧💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Big O. What a man. I lost my wife at a young age. and when I listen to Roy it breaks my heart. as he has had his broken time and again. God bless you Roy. Your name and songs will live in our harts forever. BO.
What's up with all these negative YT vids on how terribly some celebrity's life ended? It's a downer, bringing nothing of value to the table. Bad message to spread. How about celebrating the positives? Enormously talented & influential, for starters, Orbison maintained a calmness & humility that transcended any 'tragedy' he experienced in life. A model for us all. LL
Roy was an icon he sang his way till. The end his life was good nothing like him in the world, l always folowed him magazines newspaper it was a thing, and l could always talk to my gramma, l use to say why did God give him such bad luck, because my gramma said the day he was born God knew what to do, he was a great singer he was well loved and he was a good person sometimes what we think is wrong it's what God thought was right, his luck was no luck because he lost 2 boys l remained 2 wives and both gone, he sang his life away till the day 52 massive heartatack and what killed him broken heart of losing 2, woman and 2 boys, he died it was the. Heart and it was full of tears and sadness and he sang beautiful songs which listen to them forever, he is always an icon his life was shorten but not lost we have alot of yo be thankful for every mornent every song is in our ❤ hearts forever and ever
Hello I'm from New Zealand. I'm trying to find younger interviews on your uncle & genius Fred Foster. RUclips only shows older. But I got Roy DVDs of younger Fred. Thanks from Riki.
O I remember Roy i was 15year old back then starting singing and i enjoyed his music thank for sharing this video i always wondered how he passed away rest in peace 😢
Roy Orbison and Jay Black of Jay and the Americans were the only two rock singers I know of that had the potential to sing opera. I have loved both of them for years. RIP Roy. Your beautiful gift gave us so much joy!
A hugely underrated talent in every way and every scale music is about. He held up the light for others to see in many ways, so they could become stars, thenselves.
In the DARK STAR book. It's mentioned that an Ora was around him. Infact at the end of a concert at Cohasset Music Circus I was able to shake his hand as we said God Bless to each other and Electricity went right thur. Omygoodness I shall Never forget that as long as I live on this 🌎 He was so kind and the tickets were only. 17$ A True Awesome soul
Poor guy he had so much loss ! Glad he found love again his sons in heaven gave him back two sons again! He’s a great singer too I enjoy his music too! R.I.P. Roy Orbison
As Roy Orbison's lead guitarist and musical director for 12 years I thought this documentary was very good and for the most part factually correct but pictures of a Roy Orbison Tribute artists by the name of Darren Page throughout was quite frustrating to say the least.
Always one of my very favorite singers. Until the day he died he had a beautiful voice. Hard to believe he smoked. Alot. Guess they did not know then what science knows now. R.I.P. Roy.
I enjoyed the audio history of this vid, but the chronologically out of place, repetitive photos was very distracting. I stopped watching, but listened to it all. Thanks for posting.
BTW there was a major flaw in this piece. Roy died in 1988, so he couldn't have been anywhere in 1998. Do your homework BEFORE you decide to do a documentary.
He did. He was at his mother's house when he passed. I saw him a few days before he died. It was a Saturday night at a club called the Channel in South Boston, Massachusetts. I believe he played there on Friday night too. I said to a friend let's go see Roy cause you never know how much longer he will be touring?? So we went to the Saturday show which was great. And don't you know he died at his mom's house in Tennessee on Mon. Or Tues. I'm so glad I got to see him. What a great talent and voice like no other. I was so happy for him cause he was having so many great things happening. With the Traveling Wilburys and his new solo album that just came out. The Black and White video is just awesome. I was so happy for him. Love his music. Sad he died so young.
@@robertmayer2748 WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Why post nonsense and lies??? Utter bullshit coming out of your so-called brain. Any idiot can find the truth, and it ain't coming from YOU, liar. On December 6, 1988, he spent the day flying model airplanes with his bus driver and friend Benny Birchfield and ate dinner at Birchfield's home in Hendersonville (Birchfield was married to country star Jean Shepard).[117] After he excused himself to go to the bathroom, Orbison collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he died of a heart attack at the age of 52.[118] Have anything to say about that?? I love Roy Orbison but one thing I can't stand about this video is linking the MTV poser, mediocre talented and establishment leach , Bruce Springsteen with a true legend and artist such as Orbison. Springsteen bought is way onto Roy's Black & White special and shouldn't have shared the stage with these true legends, such as James Burton. That was an embarrassment.

I've loved Roy's music since I was a kid in the 60s
I can't believe he wasn't an even bigger star he was so good.... Elvis Presley called Roy the best singer he had ever heard😮
Roy, Elvis Presley and Chris Isaak had similar vocals.

Wink Texas was about 100 yards long. I used to drive through it back in 1968.
Will always love Roy's music, forever and beyond! 💙

A voice like silk, the epitome of cool, the other Man in Black.

Even Elvis liked him and his voice
I despise the commercial interruptions.
REST IN PEACE Roy, You are deeply missed.
Why does NO ONE recognise his Arcade song... including you?... still thank you for posting... good job.
Elvis was the king and still is. Elvis and Roy were good friends
Saw roy live brilliant ❤riproy❤

Why is there a photo of Crisp Street Market in Poplar East London England in the piece about Roy.
Lanky well said
Love him I always listen to his music
I cant Imagine how you dont even mention Pretty Women ! That was one of his Greatest Hits How You dont even mention it
Love him.
This is sad😢

Also, Barbara was not there when Roy died. She was in Germany and Roy was not at Brickfields residence when he died he was at his mother's place.
Interesting
With a voice that impressed Elvis Presley, if Roy had the looks and stage presence, he would've surpassed them all!
People loved his voice it doesn't matter about looks. He was a big star.
@@patrickrooney5130 a unique look I think, very cool. ❤

I liked roys voice more than elvis. .. he was the song he sang.. and was a real guitarist
Elvis fooled with the guitar a lot. He liked to play the buffoon. But he was an expert guitarist.
How can you not mention Pretty Woman and omit Tom Petty from the Traveling Wilburys? SMH.
I remember Pretty Woman playing in the scene from Dumb and Dumber - they're getting ready for the ball.
Tom Petty was mentioned at time stamp 25:00.
AI narration?
We're and why you didn't even mention pretty woman one of his greatest hits even the movies used it
I wish you would treat artists like this with a little more respect. These titles are nothing but clickbait period do better
Go to wings of Pegasus and watch the voice graph- he was a machine

Lots of good information. Yet not all yellow banded graphics match the spoken script.
The music in the background of this video is not fitting. Doesn’t work!
So annoying.
I enjoyed the audio history of this vid, but the chronologically out of place, repetitive photos was very distracting. I stopped watching, but listened to it all. Thanks for posting.
And the pictures of Roy tribute acts (Barry Steele and Darren Page)? I don't get that!
BTW there was a major flaw in this piece. Roy died in 1988, so he couldn't have been anywhere in 1998. Do your homework BEFORE you decide to do a documentary.
Some of these pictures are not Roy Orbison...
"Hey AI, make a 30 minute Roy Orbison documentary" *upload* lol
I noticed that immediately at 0:30, right then and there I skipped the resto the video.
You're right about that. Some of the stills are not Roy. Kind of a weird video with probably the ai narration.
Yes. Roy not that ugly. He actually is good looking. He has a baby face, very gentle innocent look. His nature.
Absolutely a great singer sounded a lot like Elvis at times
…..Wrong title, so no watch and thumb down.
Satan put those dark sunglasses on the poor man so he could not see how beautiful he really was. What a tragedy.
Roy was partially blind.
Too bad this man's life was all summarized, written and spoken by AI . . . he deserves a HUMAN interpretation
tragic ending, did he not die, of a heart attack, while at his mothers house....
He did. He was at his mother's house when he passed. I saw him a few days before he died. It was a Saturday night at a club called the Channel in South Boston, Massachusetts. Heart attack at 52. I was a little boy when he died, yet still realised he was a legend.
