I can't go back to other tools after using this, it's so helpful and easy to see the big picture - and love the option for outposts to keep things organized. Definitely some bugs and quirks but I've found it easier to work around them than to go back to satusfactiry calculator or excel
The storage containers and Outputs allow for so much more control over the items you are producing vs expecting. Loving the program, hoping to see an app one of these days
This is awesome! Every time I try to use satisfactory calculator I get really frustrated because all the ads hog all of my band width and I can’t make any progress. I have very slow internet, so this will make my life so much easier!
i know what you mean, the amount of ads on that website is ridiculous and makes me never want to use it. even to look up nodes, or if i got all my sloops.
@ it just seems so excessive. and im not a fan of ad block... i do like creators to get credit and paid for there work, but sometimes it feels like there is no need to go that far. and it drives many people away.
Been using this program myself and yes I like it so much I would pay for it. Thanks for tutorial. I wish it would tell me how many foundations I would need.
It is a really good program, but there are minor issues that makes it a bit weird (loke if you start with the miner and select mk2 or mk3 and change the ore node to pure it doesnt automatically changed the minner output) i'm sure they'll fix it but for now it is much better to start from the end and work your way back. Thanks chaos the video was amazing!!
start at the start or at the end... yeah yeah start anywhere.... my personal favorite with this is planning byproduct recycling.... so i can build stuff so that i can just have the setup itself being what supplies itself with something like the dark matter residue or something...
This tool is still missing some of the most essential functions for it to be useful. It gets so confused if you change the part limit just once, it just stops being able to change the number.
Gents, you should think about excel .... Made the entire spectrum for a 3+GW chain from a blank spreasheet my way, it took 2 to 3 hours .... No speedy, but as versatile as possible.
This is a great tool but it definitely has some limitations. They might just be because I don't understand how to get it to work though. In my experience it is not very good at looping byproducts back in. This is because whenever you set a manufacturing limit it is a limit and not a minimum. So looping byproduct back into the start seems to always reduce everything down to zero at least with dark matter residue. It would definitely be nice if you could set machine manufacturing to a minimum rather than a limit. I've also found it is extremely finicky whenever you are trying to calculate extra parts to put into a chest. I made my final factory build and I set a machine to produce 10 of something a minute even though I only needed eight so that two extra a minute would go into a container. But every time I do this if there is any resource towards the start of the tree that splits apart and those two trees converge after spitting items into a chest it completely breaks the calculation and it freezes forever. So sometimes towards the start of a tree I have to use two different nodes of the same resource so that no loop occurs. The last issue is that even when you make a simple change it will recalculate everything that it is connected to even when it is entirely unnecessary. For small factories this is fine but for large ones it becomes a very long wait and combined with the previous problem sometimes you can't tell if you've done something it doesn't like and it will load forever or if your factory is just too big and you just need to wait another minute. Hopefully all of these get better in the future but also hopefully this will help people trying it out for the first time avoid a bit of frustration like I had because I didn't understand what was going wrong. But the way I have been using it in phase 5 is to create a master plan for all of the space elevator parts and then for a lot of the simpler parts putting them into an outpost. Typically what I do from there is use satisfactory calculator to calculate all of those outposts in different tabs. If you want to do it inside of the modeler though I would suggest figuring out what the final outputs of an outpost are and then creating an entirely new branch in order to achieve those outpost outputs rather than linking everything together just because if you link it all together it will take forever to calculate.
yeah, had the same experience so far. It currently feels more like fighting the program than anything else a lot of the time once you get to more complex production chains. You often have to spam priority splitters everywhere to make some of it work, but there's also no way to tell it to ACTUALLY produce a certain amount of each item directly, which is a real problem if the same resources are needed for different items. I cant rely on one production chain NOT stealing another's input for example and making me think I have enough input for everything.
@@Basement-Science Yeah I know what you mean. I really feel like 90% of the problems with this could be fixed just by having a manufacturing minimum instead of a limit. I'm not even sure why a limit would be the one that they picked. It seems not only worse all around but like it would make all of the math and calculation harder. I just don't know why anybody would start at the mining nodes than rather with the finished products. Late game I'm not looking at an area to see what's available and then figuring out what to build. I know what I need and I will move items across the map however I need to to get them. Starting at the end with a minimum seems better than listing nodes and seeing what I can get, especially when my list of nodes would include the ENTIRE map.
yeah it does have some issue i will agree. and the creator is still working on things which is really nice. i hope they fix a lot of the by products issues but i also know the game dosnt do well with them also.
you may have to put a priority merger on it or something. Top is high priority, which it doesnt tell you. Or you may have to add water extractors to it anyway, maybe
@ It does not. If you understand that Pipe junctions split/merge *EVENLY* between their connections, you can build in such a way that byproducts are prioritized in a ratio equal or exceeding their production, thus solving the problem. For recipes that only produce a small amount of byproduct compared to the input, you almost get this without thinking about it. For the others, you may simply need to change how your manifolds are fed.
@@Basement-Science i know the in game process had to findout the hard way when i was doin bauxite i was askin about the modler it just nulls every single thing only when the water is as by product and then fed into the loop
tbh its a bit of a mixed bag. Unlike most of the other tools, it kinda allows you to model your entire save in one place, BUT: actually getting it to calculate rates for everything you ACTUALLY WANT to produce, or DO produce with existing factories, is a huge hassle. Its more like fighting the program than anything else. Plus, for me it currently doesnt even manage to ever finish calculating anymore. If you want to quickly compare different recipes for example, its completely unsuitable for that imo. In the Satisfactorytools calculator, you just put in what you want to make and what recipes are allowed, and which total resources, and you immediately get a valid way to produce all that. SF Modeler doesnt help you at all with this.
yeah some other programs do make those decisions for you on what is a better recipe and what you should use, but this one does let you chose what your looking for. i know putting stuff back into the system tends to be an issue, but at least the creator is still working on it.

This is, by far, the best planning tool I’ve seen. Thanks for telling us about it.
i agree, i was hesitant to use it at first, but so glad i did.
As a visual guy and with ADD,i love this program. so clear when your mind is going all places.
agreed. and they even updated it with the OCD patch to make it cleaner with the lines... so nice.

same, i am hooked on it, and it is so easy to use.
I finally can stop exiting out of satisfactory and going onto tools THANKS!
You could always alt+tab instead of closing the game. Just have other programs open in the background.
lol no problem.
@@gemmel3197 could take up many resources, personally my pc could never run satisfactory and chrome at the same time

I honestly wouldn’t care about the ads but in my case it literally makes the site unusable because of my slow internet. :-/
I never saw any ads there. Probably because for me, adblock is a must.
Best video Ive seen explaining how to use this great tool, thanks!
No problem, it is a great program and deserves it.
I love this only thing is I wish you could swap the order of materials in the box so you don’t have to have crossing lines haha
Been using this program myself and yes I like it so much I would pay for it. Thanks for tutorial. I wish it would tell me how many foundations I would need.
lol that would be cool, but then again, you never know how much space someone wants inbetween there buildings.
You have convinced me. This is really needed for the nuclear power setup.
yeah, helped me a ton
Thanks for a great tutorial on this!

Yoyoyo, I am also using this one since months and it‘s my absolute favorite! Also gets super frequent updates and what not 🎉

yeah, and being able to put the sink into the build so you know how much coupons your getting, that helps as well.
Ooh, I've been needing one!!
this one is one of, if not the best one to use for most people.
That one is awsome. I so much whanna donare and support that guy that made that Tool, its awsome ;)
me too
nice. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
no problem, its very useful and people should know.
Thanks a lot for the vid
no problem, this tool is that good and is a bit confusing at first.
its great for multiplayer when you want to share the plan
absolutely,
This tool is still missing some of the most essential functions for it to be useful. It gets so confused if you change the part limit just once, it just stops being able to change the number.
and it would be nice to round some machines up and bee making more than needed.
Can you use this to maximize a recipe? Like say I have X iron ore and I want to make as much screws using all the available recipes. Can it do that?
yes, you can test recipes till you find the best version
no!...yes!...love the modular!...better than the rest?
i would say so.
Gents, you should think about excel ....

water by products should always be filtered out to something separate as the game always messes up the by products in game
