After getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max, we have encountered some wireless charging issues. While it does work on some, it also does not work on others - the inconsistency is driving us insane! However, the good news is that we have (we think) figured out some of the issues we were facing.
In this video we demonstrate why some wireless chargers work while others do not. More importantly, we also tested the Freedy Wireless Charger as we were not sure if the iPhone 12 Pro Max would actually work at all.

Are you having issues with iPhone 12 wireless charging as well? Comment below!
Yup!
I have the same problem. Who would have thought putting magnets there was a bad idea!
Thanks I made it charging with case helpful
Thanks for watching!

do you have any recommendations?
If it’s within your budget then Apple products are a safe bet, such as the MagSafe charger; alternatively, we would suggest those flat desktop wireless chargers so that you have the freedom to move and adjust and not be constrained.
If you need a desktop stand, then might want to take a look at the KKM 4 in 1 Magnetic Wireless Charger on Amazon - it doesn’t have a feet so that your phone can fit but be wary of the weight of your phone with the case on.
But if you need a wireless charger for your car, look for one that has an adjustable feet or one without any feet as long as it can withstand the weight with your case on.
Mileage may vary and unfortunately we have not seen or tested any good ones yet so we don’t have any good recommendations at the moment.
One we have seen (for cars) is the Belkin BOOST UP Charger - for me I just use a regular solid mount and just plug-in the USB cable when needed.
Hope that helps!
Athough I personally cannot verify if this is the case or not, I’ve heard that the iPhone 12 will only charge at 15W when using a MagSafe charger, and if it is used with a non MagSafe charger (or even a 15W QI charger) it will charge at 7.5W
We have not verified this as well, but thanks for letting us know!
i had a iphone xs max and bought it with a wireless charger and now i have a iphone 12 pro max and i bought a silicone mag safe case and when i place it on the wireless charger it doesnt charge unless i take off the case. its an upright charger but if i put the case on and put it on its side it does charge
We have tested that as well, putting it sideways on an upright charger. The problem with that is you have to adjust it to get it on the sweet spot otherwise it won't charge and/or it would charge and then stop charging. However, it is definitely an option as well and hopefully it works well for you!
@@XKUBECONNECTS I will go to the Apple store and see what they say
The problem I’m having is that it shows that it is charging but is taking forever to charge. I had my iPhone 12 on my charger for 4 hours and it’s only gone up from 40% to about 60%. My previous phone, iPhone 8 would be at 100% in about 45 minutes to an hour tops.
Which charger are you using? It may also have something to do with the charging block. Since iPhone 12's do not come with it's own charger, it is recommended to have 18W / 20W USB-C chargers in order to do fast charging.
iPhone 11 came with an 18W USB-C power adapter but if anything prior to iPhone 11, you might b e using a 5W USB which would be slow charging.
I had an iPhoneX and it worked flawlessly on all of my wireless chargers, including the one in the center console of my Toyota Tundra. Bought the iPhone 12 and the charger in my truck starts to work (turns blue) and after less than a minute turns red (this is the error mode). I’ve tested this in and out of the case, and in various positions in the charging tray, with the truck sitting still. All the same result. Again, it works fine with an iPhone 10. With my desk charger, I could toss the 10 onto it in almost any position and it worked fine. With the 12, it has to be perfectly centered on the charger and still only works intermittently. I refuse to buy a MagSafe charger and this will likely cause my switch to Android.
That’s unfortunate to hear - we found that the ones that work the best are ones that you can lay down on flat so you can easily adjust and captures most of the time.
Anything standing for the iPhone 12 MAX always a hit or miss and most times a miss.
Why did the lady that sold me my iPhone 12 Pro Max not mention anything about this issue? I’m freaking pissed
Hi Jeffrey, sorry to hear that - are you having issues with wireless charging?
Hi xkudpbe connects
Can the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max works with Qi wireless charger
Hi James, yes the iPhone 12 (Mini, Pro, Pro Max) works with Qi-Certified Wireless Chargers, hope that helps! (The Freedy Wireless Car Charger that we demoed is Qi-Certified)
I have WV and my car have wireless charging, but my iPhone don’t charge, but samsung is ok
From what I have learned it will only work with Apples proprietary MagSafe charger, with or without a case, good old Apple making there customers buy there own products, once again.
Peter, I would say that's about 90% true, we have used a few third party chargers that have worked but when you buy third party it is basically a 50/50 guessing game.
