- I present the sharpest watch in my collection- the Santos de Cartier. It has the most elegant design, exquisite detail work, and the longest running history of any men's sports watch. It just doesn't get much better than this!
Reach out if you are looking for a good Cartier AD. I can get you in touch with the AD that sold me mine.

The sub, speedy and the Santos: Possibly the most most iconic and ‘complete’ 3 piece collection I’ve seen! I hope the Cartier is a keeper now. 😀
The triple 'S'
@@BruceWilliams Haha! Never thought of that one. Maybe that could be a title for one of your upcoming videos 😉
@@jacc88888 I'd throw in the Reverso into that set as well. Not an S but iconic and long running!
You should know by now Bruce does not have keepers!
@@nickporcell #saynotokeepers
The Santos is not an old man's watch - it's a refined man's watch (all ages). If anyone disagrees, they can fight me on it =P
Well, frankly speaking, it looks more like a boy's watch with its gaudy bracelet and its shiny bezel. A JLC might be a better fit for such a "refined man" of "all ages."
@@osman01003 The problem with a lot of watches in the luxury market people can think they are fantastic because they cost so much. This to me is just gaudy and looks cheap ?
There’s no such thing as an old man’s watch. Well there is but they’re called pocket watches
@@glennpowell3444 have you ever actually seen anything AUTHENTIC and exspesive at the same time???
My Cartier glasses look fuckin unbelievable. Eveyone else wearing glasses look like they’re wearing a not as expensive pair.
@@TnATabacco cartier makes glasses?
If you ask me, a man wearing a Cartier commands more respect than many other high end brands. Great choice
Its funny because most people will only recognize Rolex, and Cartier as premium brands. Maybe Breitling Omega Hublot and Tag Heuer. No one knows what the heck an AP, PP, or VC is much less pronounce the names
@@BruceWilliams a bit of an offtopic but PLEASE don't call Patek "PP". If you say it out loud I think you'll know why :D
A watch does not make the man.
@@dustinr16 no but it can tell you something about him
@@Mahhsio PP is overpriced bologna. AP, VC, both overpriced bs.
I love that watch too Bruce. Have the mid size in my collection. This is the most elegant, most recognizable cache-rich modern watch and it has the most practical bracelet in the industry. Thanks dude
Gorgeous without doubt… in many ways. That craftsmanship is hardly comparable. The goldsmith’s art background is the main reason for that. Such a concept, the ambition for perfection and refinement as Cartier does is absolutely incredible.
I am on my way to buy the one with the blue dial 💙 Great vid as always Buce, thank you for your effort 🙏🏻
Edit: I finally choose the white dial 😄 More versatility here and I got not many watches with a bright dial ☺️
Agree Bruce, it's one of the ultimate iconic timepieces, love it!! 😍👍🏻👍🏻
Bruce - us watch nerds really are blessed to have you in our world. Seriously- keep doing what your doing.
You know what’s under valued and appreciated?….your channel and reviews. Great content, thank you
I love your love for the Santos, Mr. Williams. Nothing dated about a Santos. Such a dope design. And I just picked mine up! Beautiful choice of music as well.
I love this watch!!! It looks so stunning in the large with white face. Thanks for sharing!
Also, thanks for being a watch channel that actually shows watches!
I try to show a good variety from across price segments. Thanks for the kind comment
A beautiful watch and a beautiful piece of music to accompany it. The Santos de Cartier will be my first 'real' watch. I've become utterly obsessed with it! Some day...
A great balanced review Bruce. That sure is a great timepiece that just oozes elegance. The medium is still very near the top of my list. I'll have to drop in at the AD and have a look when I'm ready to purchase.
Having been a collector of watches for 25 years I've been looking at Cartier for the first time. Some beautiful watches that stand the test of time with great history
I've been in this hobby for about 1.5 years and had the opportunity to purchase the blue dial version about 5 months ago and I love it. The sport and dress elements really make the Santos a unique watch in my opinion. You nailed that bezel drawback right on the money. Right from the start I babied the watch. I know it is a sport watch, but because of its beauty and charm, I just didn't to put any unnecessary wear on it too soon. 2-weeks into the honeymoon period I start to notice micro-scratches on the bezel. I don't know how they happened, I didn't hit anything, and nothing but my micro-fiber cloth even toughed the bezel. lol. Again, just micro-scratches, so not a really big deal but noticeable in the right light. Great review as always Bruce!!
This year my thoughts on this one have completely changed. It’s a beauty and I think I need the medium now. 👍👍
That combination of curved lines and sharp edges is so compelling! Nice! 😀😀😀👍👍👍😍😍😍
Great choice!! I have the Santos Medium and its my all time favourite watch.
Excellent account name!
After your intro detailing the history behind this Art. I now want to buy one 😊
Great review on a truly beautiful watch. Congrats Bruce!
Great video. I have the same watch. Love the shots of SLC and OC Tanner's beautiful building in your intro.
Been following you for a couple of years Bruce. Nice work. I recently bought the blue dial large santos. Love it! I think that trio you have here is perfect. Get them back haha. Cheers.
Beautiful! One of few models that looks great in yellow gold.
Haven’t owned a Cartier Santos since the late 70’s, but this watch I love and bought one.
Stunning watch this. Tried the white and blue on. One will be in the collection for sure
Lovely watch, the Santos has an instantly recognisable look all of its own
Bought this exact one for my 60th (your loss Rolex) and I love it. Then I bought a Tank Solarbeat. Love that too, because it’s old/new Cartier and I love the style and the tech. Now looking at a Tank Americaine. That money could’ve all been Rolex’s but now I’ve awakened to Cartier. If they made a Santos in medium with the blue dial, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Have been waiting for this one, Bruce! Popcorn at the ready
Beautiful piece Bruce ..it really is ..congrats and enjoy !!!
I just bought a two tone medium santos and I can’t wait to share my review as well. I’ve got to say Bruce, your videos on the new models helped steer me the right way. I agree with you, this watch could be MUCH more expensive. Honestly, if they increased the power reserve to 70+ and added a sapphire caseback without sacrificing thickness, they should charge 15-20k.
I don’t see how a blancpain, for example, warrants a higher price point than this Cartier.
Love the Oceans movie music. And video of course. Thanks Bruce!
I own the medium and it’s my favorite watch. Not enough brands keep design consistent over a long period of time. Cartier has done well with keeping design language while modernizing it with upgrades like better movement, quick switch bracelet and links, etc. Respect.
I purchased the large version about 4 months ago. Love it...but that bezel does scratch just by looking at it! It's a must in a collection. Sub, Santos and soon arriving Datejust.
I just sold my Panerai Luminor Marina for the Santos XL and I love it, it's Sophistication at it's best , and as I get older I am exactly that sophisticated .
Fabulous watch I love it 👍 thanks Bruce excellent video
Such a handsome watch! Thanks for sharing my friend.
Great video!!!!!! It is underrated and so is the bvlgari octo
I own a 2020 Santos brushed black bezel and black/gray dial.... my absolute favorite watch ⌚in my collection. The bracelet scratches easy but the bezel doesn't with my variant. Your watch is beautiful and I initially was looking for the blue dial at the AD but there's a waiting list and when I was there, they happened to have mine and I fell in love with it.
I have a collection of many Omegas , Tudors and a few Rolex's and a bvlgari octo... but this is my favorite
Love both.
For the Santos I also like with the blue dial (WSSA0030).
And that also reminds me the Glashütte Original, Seventies (preference for the Chronograph Panorama Date) that I love
Nice presentation. I have a Santos XL 100 Chronograph and love it.
My favorite watch. Incredible video.
Bruce - Make no apologies! This watch is loaded with history and a movement that boast far greater quality than what you will find in a Rolex Datejust. Rolex has beefed up their movement manufacturing quietly and are now bringing a very competitive product to market. I added the blue steel Santos to my collection a couple of years ago; a really amazing piece. I like the new black black version they just released last year.
Wow, stunning. Not too dainty, but elegant while looking like an absolute tank. This will be in my collection I'm sure of it now.
Rob showed me your channel yesterday man. I have to say we would get along lol
@@BruceWilliams I stopped by because Maverick kept mentioning you and Rob in my comment thread. I've seen your work for a while, always fantastic, but his comments was just a good reminder to check it out again. According to him I believe we all owe him an apology lol.
@@degenerateWA LOL
Have to say I really love this piece
Looks great on your wrist 👌
Thank you Robert
I find it fascinating that, while this is the longest running wrist watch design, Cartier improves on this watch continuously. The intricate bracelet design alone belittles most other haute de gamme sports watch manufacturers...
I agree
I feel like the fact that you change it with your fingers makes it feel cheaper. Like an Apple Watch or consumer tech product
@@davidkaplan5517 as someone who has spent way too much time f***ing around with end links, spring bar tweasers etc... I love this system. Have the large adlc santos. Switching straps is a joy
@@alcapown3622 I never said it wasn’t easier. I just think it totally takes away from the luxury aspect by having it be a consumer tech product.
I never said you said that. You shared your opinion, I shared mine.
Beautiful, pure class.
Beautiful piece. Cartier unlike other high luxury brands doesn't copy AP and Patek to create a luxury steel sport watch. Kudos
I have always admired the Santos. I shall likely be treating myself. Can't decide on which size for my 7 inch wrist. Lots say the large is too big. Great video 😎
I think 7 is right in that spot where you can go either way. Which did you decide on?
Great watch, and also on my wish list. Enjoy.
What an intro, Bruce!
I got my Santos Medium two weeks ago after wanting it for years.
My main concern was that it'd be too dressy for me because I dress very casually. But once I got the Santos, I realized that it wears much sportier than I imagined, especially on the brushed bracelet. It looks dressy once I put the leather strap on, though.
What size wrist do you have?
@@bdg5593 My wrist is about 6.75" or 17cm
Is it possible to get the medium only with bracelet and not the leather strap? Asking as I don't use leather.
@@ravipro I think it always comes with a secondary leather strap that's just a part of the package. I actually got two leather straps - I don't use them much but it's a nice to have.
@@dameow33 I have 6.5" and opted for the Medium as well.
I’m sorry Bruce the blue overseas was just an epic piece - utterly gorgeous, while Iv grown to like Cartier I don’t think it’s in the same league . That said I completely understand it’s heritage, and there’s only afew square pieces that actually succeed as design ideas and this is one of them .
Overseas is a massively epic piece no doubt!
@@BruceWilliams Bruce how about a piece on prices of over rated watches vrs what you could actually buy that’s haute horology
The VC ist sick bro 💪🏼🤩
Fantastic Bruce, Cartier have been growing on me for a few years now, and at some point I aspire to own this. However it may be a quartz tank or even the new solar tank, unless I just dreamt up that one. 😀
What a beautiful video!!
I agree price doesn't always equal enjoyment, I love my BLNR much more than my AP 15400 when I had it
Stunning...my next watch! Current 2 watch collection--speedy and OP39.
Cartier are great timepieces,thanks ❤️🏴👍
Great video and excellent review of Santos de Cartier, the watch looks beautiful and elegant, doesn’t look to me as a sport watch, is classic and elegant and with modern touch but, keeping the tradition and history from Cartier from 1911 and from his brother Santos Dumont, from 1904.
Old Man's Watch?? Nah...that thing's GORGEOUS Classic Bruce. Love the “ Bling " effect...enjoy 👌🏽
I look forward to purchasing a Santos very soon
Absolutely love this piece, just picked up a 2022 Blue/silver version.
The only thing they need to do is the same thing that Grand Seiko has done...upgrade the movement. They need to get the movement on par with the Datejust or the Aqua Terra... and then they could charge 10-12K and nobody would even notice. Especially with a sapphire back.
Beautiful watch, underrated also. Great choice!
Thank you
It's a beautiful watch. I hope to get one someday for myself.
It all comes down to personal preference Bruce so you made the right decision imo.👍
I agree with you, I like the Santos better than the Overseas. It is such a classy looking watch that could be worn with a suit or jeans. It is probably one of my top 5 grail watches.
Bruce, I can understand wearing a watch that's not as good as your other but love it just the same or more-I wear a Seiko SPB149 more than my Skydweller right now.
The longer enthusiasts stay in the hobby and gain experience, the more they will realize how good a watch is or how much you can enjoy it is not dependent on price
Absolutely beautiful 😍 I want one
The Santos de Cartier of blue dial WSSA0030 is undeniably a pure classy & elegant timepiece.
Thank you Bruce!
Just got the Santos Blue large , Beautiful watch rugged and elegant at the same time . Get one soon prices keep going up
Been waiting for this video. A truly stunning piece, congratulations Bruce 😊
Great video Bruce
Compelling edit and photography which sustains the interest. I have the medium Santos de Cartier in bi-metal. I love the curvature of the watch. It perfectly sits and 'holds' on my slimmer wrist. I am still at the 'baby stage' but my feeling is that the 18k Gold bezel can be given just a brief gentle rub (not polish) weekly and any slight marks will be barely noticeable.
The Santos is a keeper for me - I have one gripe and that is I am unable to purchase the additional multi-colour alligator straps....Covid and or the UK Brexit is apparently preventing convenient import of the straps. (My patience is wearing a little thin as it is one of the big selling points of the watch.)
I'm a big fan of the santos, amazing review!
Dude I decided to randomly try this watch on, and it is sooooooo comfortable! I will be adding it to my collection soon hopefully.
Most comfortable watch I’ve ever worn. Says a lot about Cartier; they value ergonomics
Nice vid! Love the watch and considering getting it myself. What are altitude thoughts about the blue dial?
Love the Santos 👍 Almost as much as the discontinued Roadster
Right now I am crushing on the Cartier Extra-flat.
Timeless, thanks
There is one solution to the polished bezel getting scratched easily....get the WSSA037 or grey dial with black ADLC coating the on bezel. The black ADLC coating will protect the bezel from scratching
very chic and elegant!
Hi Bruce!
Do you know why the logo on the dial is different from the logo of the company?
I’m really eyeing on the santos dumont (love the design) or the must tank (it’s cheaper). I don’t really care if the watch is quartz, automatic or mechanical rather I look for the design and history of it. Would you recommend the santos dumont or the cheaper must tank as my first cartier?
Love that watch!
It is a beautiful piece. Not my style, but a good looking watch.
As an update… It is my style after all! I purchased one today, the version with the very subtle blue dial. I tried it on at my AD, and was blown away with how elegant it looked. And very light on the wrist
I was buying some new shoes yesterday and went into Cartier on a whim to try on this watch. I think it was a mistake. I really really liked it a lot. It fits so well.
May be next for me. I’ll need to try on medium and large to make a decision.
Beautiful watch
Hi Bruce. I would like to know what made you decide on the all stainless vs the TT?
Hey Bruce. Love your enthusiasm for the Santos! I feel the same about my blue dial version. I've got several great watches that I love but what is it about the Santos? There's some special magic at work here. Pretty sure it's my favorite. All the positives you mentioned come together to create maximum comfort and a unique look. It's an eye catcher. And if you can bear to part with the bitchin bracelet for a while you can use the strap for a mellower, dress watch vibe. I'm currently waiting on a couple straps from Delugs to change it up!
Best wishes
It's a "nice" watch, with the blue dial it's absolutely stunning!
Very true
I get your change from VCO to CSD. The VCO is the 'better' watch, sure. But it's a lot of coin to hold in a sports watch that will have uncertain residual value (good at the moment, so right to flip). The CSD is average in terms of movement, but superb in case, bracelet and design. It's just a better looking watch than the VCO. Yeah, no showy lacquer (VCO's best bit), but proportion, line and congruency trump shiny blue and obvious branding. Glad you like it and a great addition to the rotation. Still not a dress watch!
Great review. I may have missed it, but can the bracelet be extended?
Bruce, does the 1847 mc movement have an instant date change at 12:00, or a gradual change. I ask because I notice at around 11:30 the date in the wheel starts to move off center. Just want to make sure this is normal
Watching this video with a two-tone Santos Dumont on the wrist 😁
That is what I like to hear
I got the same. Actually went to the AD to try on the Santos in medium and Large and couldn’t decide. Then I tried on the Santos Dumont which fits right in between. And I just instantly fell in love with it.
Bruce, what made you end up going for the full steel rather than the two tone?
Wow, I have never seen anyone have my dream 3 and all right next to each other! Only missing my grail, the day-date President!
Very nice watch
I absolutely love mine.
Oh boy. I have the Sub and the Speedy. Was sure to get the JLC Reverso Duoface next and now this? 😍
Bruce if you had to choose the new speedy or this santos which would you choose? Plz I need help deciding lol plz give me a straight answer! Thanks brother!
