    A most excellent Tut! Many thanks. I am now due to be setting up MainWP as I now have my first client properly onboard (2 more on the way in). What I was doing just before getting to this stage were Contracts... Maintainance and site. Wondering if you would share your processes/solutions to this at some point? jeez! just do not appreciate what has to go into getting this right, I am lucky as my friend/client is in the loop somewhat and is helping me with feedback (yes that hurtful type lol) Thanks, Paul C ;)

    Hi Paul been using for a while but learned loads I didn’t know from your video. Since you posted the Remote feature has been deleted from the free version of the MainWp you need to do this on each child site now

  • @alexgavwork
    @alexgavwork 4 года назад

    Thanks for the video and for all tutorials you have done!
    My main concern for these kind of plugins is security of the child sites since we open one more way to administer the sites. If there were only some way to setup firewall rules on the client servers to allow access to MainWP only from certain IPs.

    Thanks for another great tutorial! I know from your other video on WPVivid you showed us a setting to create backup before updating. I can't seem to find that option in mainWP. I tested with it set up in a child site but when I did the updates form MainWP a new backup was not created first. Am I missing something? I would think there would be a way to do this. Thanks!

    Hi mate. I'm trying the trail and I love it after watching your video - however the composer for the website is the standard Wordpress interface. Do you know if I install DIVI or another visual composer whether that will update the add new blog / page interface so that it's cleaner and nicer to publish articles with as opposed to the standard, or does it use the standard by default?

    I am curious about security. Can MainWP scan sites automatically on schedule (daily) externally and detect if a site has been compromised? I ask because apparently ManageWP does this via Sucuri. So whatever happens to any kind of locally installed security plugin if a site gets hacked doesnt matter since the scans will run just fine anyway and see that the site is compromised. If I need the plugin to tell me that I can´t be really confident since bugs can occur in the actual locally installed security plugin any time of the week. From what I read on the mainwp website sucuri needs to be started manually and that puts more stress on me to always remember to check sites manually.

    I'm not sure I'm right but on the websites I'm running I have option to choose automatic updates for every single plugin. Will love to have MultipleWP installed but I'm not sure the instructions are updated. It also look like a lot of work and options to set it incorrectly. I'm searching all around for information about website translation without any plugin.

    So to do this I need to have a fresh Wordpress install? Ok, then how do I move the Wordpress install I currently have in my Root folder into a subfolder? I tried moving everything over and changing my URLs in Settings>General but they are greyed out. I removed the set URLs from WP-Config, but then I can't log-in. I also tried changing them in the database directly but Home doesn't exist under WP-Options. Seems like every step leads to another to another to another to a dead-end. I just want to manage two wordpress sites easily. Multisite wasn't going to work well either and would require similar headache inducing steps.
    Tell me what to do! Please!!!!

    • @WPTuts

      When I spoke to the developers of WPVivid there were sadly no plans to manage/trigger the automatic backup-up option from MainWP. I'm hoping they may rethink the decision, but right now that appears to be the situation.

      @@WPTuts So, do you now still go into all Wordpress sites independently to update everything from there? Just curious what's your way of working now this obviously ideal way is not possible..
      I just starting using both WPVivid and MainWP because I expected the auto-backup would be triggered by updates within MainWP as well, but it is a big bummer this is not the case.. It feels like they are missing out on one of their core opportunities.

  • @KleinfeldTechnical

    Great video! I set up MainWP on a localhost site under Laragon over a year ago, but have not been using it.
    I did not see any way in your video to check the age and changes in plugin updates. This is something I do manually on sites as I update them. I generally avoid updates that are less than 1 day old (I saw that the auto update did the same) and also look at what the changes are in the changelog before updating. Can that be done from MainWP? On the site itself it's quite easy, just click on "view details". I guess an alternative would be to have wordpress.org open and go to each plugin's page to see the details, but that seems convoluted.
    Any thoughts on doing this through MainWP?

    • @KleinfeldTechnical
      @KleinfeldTechnical 4 года назад +3

      I'll answer my own question. I just launched my MainWP site and looked at the plugin updates page. If you look at the details, showing the list of plugins, you can click on the plugin name and get the details screen right there. Neat!
