This guy was left in the shadow of Walter White forever. One of the best character in one of the most underrated crime TV show ever.
tirtha2chester i agree :)
+tirtha2chester Nope ; )
Talent squared!
I don't think it was under rated at all. I defy you to find a negative, or even an indifferent review by a novice or a professional critic.
@j mula It's really not, but I love people who always pretend things are overrated or downplay a deserved success of one thing because the other thing they liked better was left in its shadow, let's me know not to take them seriously because they can't argue without using a flimsy comparison to try and prove a point.
Breaking Bad was amazing and so was this season of Fargo.
Lester's ending was quite fitting, as he was walking on thin ice the whole season. Until the ice gave in, literally
It made click. Good observation
Damn, that's deep. I love it
Lester followed Malvo into that elevator because, in a twisted way, he looked up to Malvo. He was a teacher that taught Lester the greatest rule of all: There are no rules. In a way, he's even grateful for Malvo helping him to actually be a man. Unfortunately, Malvo was at the time, not at liberty to explain to Lester that he is on business. Because of how Lester's head had grown too big, he is only capable of taking this as an insult, rather than thinking really hard and remember the kind of creature that Malvo is.
he was not a man at any point, he used his wife as bait to save his own skin form the fire he started, and that was towards the end of his transformation

How this isn't sponsored or acknowledge by Fargo showrunners or FX is beyond me. One of the best character montages I've ever liked and subscribed for. You're a seriously gifted editor that should consider doing this as a career beyond RUclips. Thanks for sharing your creation with us, and I'm sure 714 others agree.
+Ben Patterson Thanks! Glad you liked it so much.
+Grzegorz Grabowiec Which program you use ? and what kind of pc ? thanks..
Definitely got the gift for editing
We all knew that Billy Bob Thornton was capable of a performance as good as the one he delivers in Fargo.
But Martin, despite not putting a foot wrong in any of the roles he's played, even dramatic ones like John Watson, had yet to deliver a dramatic tour de force as the central protagonist. In Fargo, he not only delivered it, he took it upstairs, put it to bed and tucked it in. A fantastic job, note perfect.
Nixer Doyle his performance was so perfect
They say you haven't proved yourself unless you've played a psychopath at least once in your acting career
Gilead L Rosenthal lester wasn’t a psychopath
You mean antagonist.
Best description
Wonderful editing!
Martin Freeman is an amazing actor. And I loved Lester. He's so likeable in spite of all the bad things he does!
U W0T,M9???Malvo FTW!
Eww no
5 years late, but what the fuck is wrong with you!?!?!? I hope people around you are safe and have lotta dogs and CCTVs
@@stevejobs7989 it's a tv character buddy. i like malvo and other characters like joker cuz they're just cool, evil and awful, but i can separate reality from fiction unlike someone here.
How can i wipe this show from my brain to be able to rewatch it
If only....I'd do the same for Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Wire.
Breaking Bad
Ball peen hammer.
Lester could help you with his hammer
The office
Just realized how cyclical Fargo is. First person to die was the accountant who froze to death and the last person to die was Lester, who also froze to death...
Jimmy Rustles right in the nose no less
@CMACKCHILL Didn't he talk about bear traps with Wrench in the hospital? Talked about a bear getting caught in a bear trap in Alaska and went through hell to free himself then died an hour later. Sort of foreshadowing here.
Iciclical.
@@basedbattledroid3507 Underrated comment.
Didn't he technically drown, though?
I felt sympathy for Lester. I know what he went thru. Bein bullied, bein walked over, bein picked on. I liked him, until he lead his 2nd wife to her death.
If you reach the level of charisma, confidence & insanity, you will sacrifice anything without a thought. That's were Lester was at that point.
For me it was when he screwed up his brother and nephew's lives.
I had sympathy for him until he murdered his first wife.
You don't get it. Watch the movie again!
But him killing his first wife was fine? If you're married, I feel sympathy for your spouse.
It's just painful how this show is underrated
Bilbo turned into an immortal being destined to walk the Earth for all eternity and served in multiple wars to stop evil to became the person known as John Watson. John eventually grew tired of Sherlock and his crazy antics and moved to lovely and peaceful Minnesota. But having been around Sherlock for so long, he adopted his sociopathic ways and became the Lester Nygaard we know today.
But seriously though, this actually makes me want to watch the show. Good job! Been hearing lots of good things about it.
HEADCANON ACCEPTED
Well, spoilers.
And after his "dead" Lester become Hector Dixon
@Cymorth Llenyddiaeth Cymru before he met Sherlock.
Every couple months I have to come back and rewatch this. One of the best shows ever and great vid!!
Even though he went way too far to survive, specifically later in the season, I must admit that I was quite sad when he finally died.
I watch a lot of TV and I think he is up there with some of the greatest and most complex TV characters I have ever seen. Even though you know that he is doing wrong, you still root for him because of the shit he has put up with
Its_only_martin What I could never work out is why he insisted on following Malvo into that elevator? what was he possibly hoping to achieve? In fact, why did Malvo decide to do Leicesters dirty work for nothing in return in the first place? Was it some kind of pro bono assassination?
+noonecaresaboutgoogle+ Following Malvo was stupid indeed, but I believe a few other people would do the same under the influence of alcohol. That's how I explain it to myself at least. alcohol.
shouldn't have drunk something dangerous.
+Its_only_martin IKR! I don't like that he died..
+noonecaresaboutgoogle+ It's because Malvo likes to push people to their darker side, like the devil. He wants to see people go to their animal instincts, which is why he recorded moments of people doing bad things. And also why he had the evil smile in his final moments when Gus was forced to kill him, Gus was pushed to his animal instinct to survive(with the wolf as symbolism). It makes sense because he asked the question "Why do humans see more shades of green than any other color". The answer from Molly was because humans needed to survive, but the real answer to the question that Gus figured out was because humans needed to hunt.
Forget Sling blade. Forget The Bad News Bears. This was Billy Bob Thornton's best role ever. The cool demeanor he demonstrates as he methodically plans the murder of all those people is very impressive. He was born to play Lorne Malvo.
Twój film to idealne podsumowanie całej, niesamowitej historii "Fargo" i przemiany postaci samego Lestera Nygaarda. Tylko szkoda, że tak mało osób poza USA wie o istnieniu tego serialu (a w Polsce to już prawie nikt ;-)).
"Nice, nice, nice" was what I said after watching this. Great editing again. Subscribing.
This whole series, starting with the movie, is an absolute masterpiece.
The first episode was amazing.
All the shit he went through upto the washing machine scene had me feeling seriously bad for the guy, and then he fixed it and there was an amazing sense of joy for the character. And then shit went south and Pearl let rip a shit ton of hurtful things and I was sort of hoping he'd kill her. And then he did and all of a sudden it's flipped and it's like "Holy shit why would you do that?"
Weird how emotionally involving this show managed to be right from the get go.
High hopes for season 2
+fabian sadler Yep, really looking forward to season 2. This show had me from start to finish of every single episode. There were no characters that were not exquisitely drawn, right down to Lesters creepy boss with the teeth. And the formula of having series that are linked so tenuously is brilliant. It would have been great if Marge Gunderson or even her child had made a cameo in one of the episodes.
Lester's boss looked a bit like Steve Buscemi, which was probably intentional.
Hugh Mungus season 2 was just as good possibly better
Season 2 was better by far.
@@joesantamaria5874 I wrote season 2 off at first because I was Malvo blind, but Mike Milligan, Lou, and Dodd Gerhardt are just as captivating if not more so.
Been a fan of Martin since the UK Office. I knew he was talented but I was shocked at how well he played this role 👏🏾🔥
I was cheering for him almost all the way.
***** but what if Fargo were a sitcom? Check the Intro :)
***** Me too!
I'll tell you: Watch Fargo Sitcom Style
Die GLOZZA You kept posting the same thing over and over in the comments. We get it, you made a Fargo video. Let people find it on their own, no need to sell yourself out so quickly. ;)
Nova Gypsy hahahaha you're right ;) but....did you watch it? (kidding)
Seeing people saying they were sad about Lester's death, I personally think the only reason I'm sad he died is because I wanted him to be plead guilty and see there's no more running or pretending, as there is no denying about him being guilty.
Lester have you been a bad boy?
Awww jeez!!!
Kawał dobrej roboty! Twórz, dalej koniecznie. Czekam na więcej. Leci sub :)
Great Job!
wow this is a fantastic sum up of lester, one could simply watch this and understand the whole story.
This is great, I love it. Fargo was such a good show and the characters were all remarkably written and played out.
first season of this show is madly underrated
When I was watching the first episode, the moment Lester grabbed the hammer, I immediately said, "It's hammer time!"
ITS HAMMERING TIME YO
MrGabbe1200 ***** but did you guys know that the hammer scene could be also used as a nice part of a Fargo Sitcom Intro...? Believe me, it totally works...
Same thoughts as well 😂😂 I was like: No stop! It's not appropriate!
HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤯🤯🤯🤯
spiritgirl41192 he showed it to her and she thought it was funny! 😂
Very nicely edited and thought out video. Hoping to see more of these especially from season 2 of Fargo. :)
The "You spent your whole life thinking there were rules. There are no rules"-line resonated with me so much. Anomie. It was a revolution for one.
Cool story bro
Fargo is a masterpiece ...I have never seen such a brilliantly plotted movie 👌🏻
The only portion you forgot to include is Lester’s revenge on his high school bully -literally- through the guy’s widow. Great video.
Lester survived. We are all behind you Lester!
Such a weasel, so brilliantly written and played.
Martin Freeman is an amazing actor. He's incredibly good
Agreed but isn’t this role kind of the same as all his others? I mean I think he did an incredible job but he’s kind of type cast in this kind of role
Świetny filmik. Dobra robota i dziękuję :)
Martin’s dialect coach really earned his paycheque.
Lester was my favourite character from the entire show.
I loved Lester, but I think I rooted for Molly more, simply because she was more open-minded, hardworking, but she still knew how much it sucked being looked down on by her superiors.
Nice compilation and I have used your link in a blog post of mine.. I hope you are ok with that. Have provided you the credit. Great series that captures the story of the sleepy town very well. There were however some elements that weren't quite convincing (Malvo on a rampage virtually unstoppable, Fed agents doing virtually nothing to the story line, Lester's brother's kid who watches him sneak out but no further reference to him etc.) but then, a great series overall.
Really good writing and great acting in this series.
well I think I just saw an entire series in one video. Cool montage! At the beginning I thought: "Hey that looks cool" then... holy shit TMI! and then yea.. That's a wrap. Cool vid. Bit of a spoiler.
so weird to hear an American accent coming out of that face.
Daniel Cropp Plus, of all American accents, Minnesotan.
This is really good i love videos like this, the evolution of walter white e.t.c you really show the true characters developments! A good job at editing too really talented, should so some more similar. Fargo series 2 is out so i expect to see one when it finishes ;) keep up the food work mate!
This is such an amazing and underrated show.
I just finished season 1 it was amazing. What I didn't get was Lester's motive to approach Malvo at Vegas.
Bravado
If he never saw that woman and her friends, before he was about to get on the elevator, he would've gotten away with everything, and gone on to live the life he's always wanted.
This is really high quality work.
Have not seen such character acting since Jack in "The Shining". Lester i love the way you became unhinged,
Better than the second season by far!
No, just no.
Its better alright but season 2 is a classic.
... Masterpiece, very nice job!
Navion Derget I agree...I'm curious what do you think about my Fargo Sitcom Intro.
+Die GLOZZA It´s funny to see something such dark and thrilling like a sitcom, i like it
Thanks man. :)
Lester Nyegard and Walter White are very similar
well edited! hell yeah
Die GLOZZA one hell of a job, as I said: Grzegorz Grabowiec I recently made a tribute video as well which turned out to be a parody...would be happy if you checked it out ;) "Fargo Sitcom Style" :D
I still think it was genius how he shifted the blame perfectly onto his brother
Yeah but it only worked because Bill is an incompetent chief who can't get rid of his old image of Lester
Wouldn't work now, in 2020
Świetny serial... uwielbiam go.
I love this so much, honestly.
This is fine art in the modern age remember those shows season two is even more brilliant it's a masterpiece so wish I had the chance to be part of it
Gracias por hacer éste vídeo. La verdad es que Lester es un pobre cobarde con suerte pero siempre quise que todo le salga bien, incluso sentí que él debía matar a Lorne y no Gus
Lester’s biggest mistake was to encounter malvo again after getting away from a horrible past in the elevator scene otherwise his life would’ve been a fresh start and instead of being thankful to have a break free persona imposed upon him due to malvo’s influence he decided to let the narcissism control the behaviour.I guess it was meant to happen because evil deeds has consequences not to mention when lorne said,“it’s on you”.Martin Freeman totally nailed the character. Fargo deserves recognition !
This was so entertaining! Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman were so fun to watch, well except from those morbid killings.
I feel sorry for Lester.
Me too.
Its a stupid maniac and parasite. I can empaty whit joker but not for lester!
The man is a detestable cowardly bitch. Fuck him. Killed his wife then let his second wife die for him.
You maybe a sociopath or something
No, quite the opposite actually. A sociopath is someone with zero sympathy, and if you have no sympathy for Lester at all then that makes you a bit of a sociopath.
Just as good as ya Lorne Malvo vid. Superbly edited. Muchos congratulosos.
My heart jumped for joy when the little bastard fell through the ice.
First season is just gold.
Damn I've got to go back and rewatch this season. So damn good!
just finished season 1
its amazing
You may think i'm weird saying this but just think about it:
There are no rules in life. Heck, you can just go outside and kill someone can and if you're smart, get away with it.
There are no rules in life. civilization only brainwashes us to think that. we live in a strange world, stranger than you may seem.
Fargo is all about not playing with the rules and the consequences that you may face if you didnt
thats what i find most beautiful about the show, it gives you sense of the real world and its soo good that yoou feel like your lester, running from his actions and past.
And not forgetting martin freemans cute innocent face is in this show, damn he is so cute trying to be soo badass!!!
Civilization doesn't brainwash us into thinking there are rules. Civilization passes down what generations before have learned: that if you act and live in a certain way, you will create a hell on Earth for yourself.
@@AminCad Whereas if you live and act in the right way, the world becomes a better place.
Would we have all the manifold comforts, cures, and colossal improvements over the past if we all behaved like Lester? No. In fact, it's been more or less proven that a high-trust society is *required* for a high-functioning economy.
That trust, that economy, and all the things we do with it? Those are the things that will save your life when you get sick, save your children from a lifetime of slavery, and save the human race by eventually creating a civilization across many worlds and even many stars. In fact, if the Milky Way is empty, and we as a species took the next step to look outward...settling and terraforming the galaxy could be fewer years in the future from now than the Sumer is in the past. Maybe less than the birth of Imperial Rome.
Rules matter; this is one reason why, and perhaps not even the most powerful positive consequence we could get from abiding within the social contract.
@@MrBrachiatingApe Exactly
The whole concept of rules is just control over the lower collective.
If an average joe breaks the rules he’ll suffer the consequences. I think it’s more about who can break the rules, because frankly the world seems to be run by people who constantly bend and break em..profiting off our suffering, killing people via expensive drug prices and military operations and then you have the exploitation of underaged girls on Epstein’s island..the only ones who can break the rules are the ones who make them and as Carlin said it’s a big club and you’re not in it.
Watching S1 again.....my fav season. Love to see Lester go from wuss to confident to arrogant which ends up getting him in the end. Just couldn't leave well enough alone even when given plenty of chance by Malvo. Also love seeing Danny Heffernan and Saul Goodman in S1.
Of all the things Lester did,
Planting evidence on his own brother. Destroying the family and leaving an innocent child to suffer is the absolute worst.
And sending his second wife to her death, he could've called the cops, said something like...this guy followed me from las Vegas, Lester is a dumb pussy
Thats true but he was probably released when evidence was shown Lester killed his wife. So we can only hope that he was released 1 year later and they can get back. Traumatic nevertheless.
he is hilarious in this lol really enjoying this one
Has anyone ever noticed that Lester Nygarrd at 0:16 is wearing the exact same outfit as the guy who witnessed the murder of the police officer and was shot by Gaear Grimsrud in the origional film.
Lester is an awful character but I can't hate him.
you have problems
Faargoooo moovie heeeereee => twitter.com/3a49eeab922641ea9/status/850530200777445376
because he was played by the most adorable human on earth: martin freeman. that's why
I can...I hated his guts. Scared little coward who killed women and would do anything to hide his weakness. Fckin pussy
@@sharpvision6613 ok tough guy
God this series is so good
You're way less popular for the quality of your work.
+6mehul9 Well said. Thanks! Means a lot to me.
+Grzegorz Grabowiec Yep. This is top tier stuff.
this show IS SO GOOD
Great show. I've watched all three completed seasons and am now in the middle of season 4. All good in their own way. Only season 1 & 2 are related, with season 2 a prequel to season 1. Great stories, great actors, great characters. One of the characters even cross-polinates. The deaf guy from season 1 helps the girl in season 3.
I love the way he goes.
This one is the best !!
Fargo S1 - Epic! A must see for every black humor admirer. Totally equal to the movie. The following seasons unfortunately have not been at the same level as the first season.
Just finished this season 1, incredible show. Did Malvo walk into an actual bear trap next to all the clothes?
Nicely done.
I watched a bear once. His leg was in a steel trap. It chewed through bloody bone to get free. It was in Alaska. Died about an hour later facedown in a stream. But it was on his own terms, you know? -lorne Malvo
Lester Nygaard is an odd kind of bear, but Lorne Malvo does not see us as men do, and that marriage was a steel trap.
Season 1 is the best thing ever. I can endlessly rewatch it. Not interested seasons 2&3 for some reason. Don't have access to season 4
I hope this show never goes away. I like it more than Boardwalk Empire and even Breaking Bad
It never did.
This is truly amazing! You should defiantly make one for Peggy and Ed blomquist of season 2!
A story of a man who was pushed one too many times and the one day pushed back
Awesome!
Fallen Anjel Ever thought about Fargo as a Sitcom? Then...yeah...it totally works too ;)
HOW. IS HIS ACCENT. SO. GOOD.
Dude, I miss this series.
Beautiful series
"Lester, have you been a Bad Boy?"
Great video man, so clear and well paced. Would you ever consider doing one on Lorne Malvo?
Thanks. I've already made a Lorne Malvo montage. Actually, it was the first "The Story of ..." I've made. It was taken down from YT. You can get a Dailymotion link from my blog.
Damn, this looks like an awesome show...
Very well done!!
freeman and thorton were amazing masterpiece show
Very nicely done!
***** Totally agree, I did something similiar but it's more...let's say interpreted a little bit differently ;)
Lovett best Fargo ever
This show was so god damn good and basically nobody watched it.
there will be a second season so i guess the ratings were fine.
When GoT started there were about 1 million people watching live per episode. When season 5 starts there will be around 10 million. Most shows aren't very popular early unless they are shit like American Idol
Kaka KarrotCake yeah unfortunately you're right...great series...since being a huge fan too, I tought, wouldn't it be nice to see if Fargo worked also as a Sitcom? And yes...I think it does :)
You're everywhere :'D Yeah, it's true. I reckon people got turned off when they saw that there were only 10 episodes (whereas GOT has about 50 ) but it really is a much more carefully crafted show. As much as GOT pretends not to be Hollywood - it is in almost every aspect.
first season was top notch, epic
Honestly thought I liked the movie so much more than the show, but this video is making me think I undervalued the show at the time due to comparison
This one is pretty cool
this looks INTENSE
