ONE NOTE: ALL the "real fur" you see at conventions... is what is known as "reclaimed" fur. It comes from places that reclaim fur from various resources where the animal has already died anyway, so instead of wasting the fur, the hide and fur is reclaimed and sold. These animals are ALWAYS certified as coming from cruelty free resources, and MOST of the proceeds that are gathered by the various Furry Conventions go to some kind of charity, usually an animal related charity, like the local animal shelters and adoption agencies. :-) Furry Conventions are ALSO great for many towns and cities that host them, as they bring in revenue to the city. Pittsburgh for example is one that LIKES Anthrocon because of the MASSIVE influx of revenue they gain from it for Pittsburgh. Atlanta has 2 conventions of note, one is a furry convention (Furry Weekend Atlanta - FWA) the other a "nerd" convention (DragonCon - DCon), and both of these conventions net the city of Atlanta HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars in revenue and tourism attraction every year. :-)
Very true. What this special failed to mention is that the people who attend furry conventions aren’t just coming from one country. They’re arriving from all over the world. When I went to AC (Anthrocon for those curious) I met people from both Germany and Japan. I’ve met people at cons who came from various parts of Europe, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South America and even South Africa. Not many other conventions can make the same claim about their attendance, and that just adds to the tourism revenue for the cities.

Everyone just focuses on the adult side. It exists, but it exists in every fandom. I for one am asexual (no sexual attraction) and im still here. All this is is harmless art, fun, and self expression. I'm glad that we have supporters and that some actually do research before accusing someone

I am a furry and early on, a fursuiter told me this: As a regular person, if you were to dance around singing a silly song, and do funny things, people would look at you like you're crazy. But if you dress up as a cartoon cat, people will laugh, people will chuckle and be happy. And that makes me happy. That's stuck with me.

I think I understand why people enjoy this stuff now. Wearing a suit must allow them to act different because people won't be able to see who they really are. It's like texting, you'd act and say things you wouldn't say in person. And for antisocial people, it brings out a brighter side of them.

There’s a “bad side” to every fandom or group. Take Christians, some are horrible people and go against their own laws, but most are kind and loving. Same with furries. There are the few messed up ones, but most of us just want to make people smile. I'm not a furry, but I think it's super neat that all these strangers can act like best friends around each other without fear of judgement. One thing I've noticed is that furries are the some of kindest people I've ever met. People make fun of them, but that only seems to make them stronger, somewhat empowering actually. Numerous friends of mine have actually admitted to being a furry, and it makes perfect sense to me. I guess I've been adopted into the Fandom you could say, but I'm fine with that. Yeah, we're all weird, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I just wish that there wasn't so much hostility on the outside of the fandom. I've seen people hurt because of this, and I'll never forget that. I don't see people being beat for liking video games or anything else of the sort, but I have seen people beat because they are a "furfag". I'm not asking for people to understand, I just don't like seeing others hurt mentally or physically.

3 years ago I commented on this video, a scared 13 year old wanting advice on how to start drawing anthros and not get bullied or harassed. I'm 16 now and heres what I've learned. Whoever thinks drawing a dog on two legs is a crime, probably needs to get there brain checked. If you arent harming anyone, and you arent promoting things that are obviously illegal/unethical. Then dont let people with nothing better to do, bring you down. You are your own person built of flesh, skin, muscle and blood all unique. It doesnt matter what the other person says, it's what you want to do in the limited time you have on earth.
This is what the world has become. Every day, we judge people based on their appearance, race, and their actions. By putting on a fursuit and hiding their identity, they are no longer afraid of all that. I just think it's kind of sad how people have to go to a specific place and have to hide their true self to not be judged and express their own personality.

this made me cry. i know this comment will just end up in the void, but i've never come to terms with my interest in this fandom. i've been telling myself i have nothing to do with them, and seeing someone from outside the fandom going in so positively and with an open mind made me realize that it's what makes me happy... sometimes. i'm still not a furry but i really enjoy drawing anthro characters, and this made me feel safe with that.
You can still take interests and draw anthro characters without being a furry But if you ever decide you want to be, the community is here with open arms!

One thing I've noticed is that furries are the some of kindest people I've ever met. People make fun of them, but that only seems to make them stronger, somewhat empowering actually. Numerous friends of mine have actually admitted to being a furry, and it makes perfect sense to me. I guess I've been adopted into the Fandom you could say, but I'm fine with that. Yeah, we're all weird, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I just wish that there wasn't so much hostility on the outside of the fandom. I've seen people hurt because of this, and I'll never forget that. Whoever thinks drawing a dog on two legs is a crime, probably needs to get there brain checked. If you arent harming anyone, and you arent promoting things that are obviously illegal/unethical. Then dont let people with nothing better to do, bring you down. You are your own person built of flesh, skin, muscle and blood all unique. It doesnt matter what the other person says, it's what you want to do in the limited time you have on earth.

"No Russian" is a mission in the 2009 video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and its remastered version, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. In the level, the player participates in a mass shooting at a Russian airport, although the player is not forced or told by the game itself to shoot any civilians and may skip the level altogether without penalty. "No Russian" is noticeably more graphic than any other level in the game. The plot of "No Russian" revolves around Army Ranger PFC. Joseph Allen, working as an undercover CIA asset, who attempts to gain the trust of a Russian terrorist named Vladimir Makarov.
Game designer Mohammad Alavi was heavily involved in the level's development. Alavi wanted the level to serve as a catalyst for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's plot, and create an emotional connection between the player and Makarov. Much of the level's development was spent designing the massacre portion, which Alavi did not want to feel too contrived or traumatic. Members of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's development team were polarized in their opinions of the level, and several game testers expressed disapproval, including one game tester who refused to play the level at all.
"No Russian" sparked significant controversy for letting players directly participate in a terrorist mass killing, and it became a popular subject in both gaming publications and major news publications. Journalists described the level's plot as illogical and derided the ability to skip the level. Due to the level's graphic content, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was subject to censorship in international versions of the game, including its entire removal from Russian versions. Journalists have since discussed the importance of "No Russian" to the video game industry.

Before the single-player mode begins, a warning message notifies the player of the option to skip the level should they find its content "disturbing or offensive"; if the player chooses to bypass the level, they do not miss any achievements and their progress in the game is not penalized.[1] "No Russian" is the fourth level in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's single-player campaign.[2] In the level, the player controls Joseph Allen, an undercover CIA operative tasked with infiltrating and gaining the trust of a Russian ultranationalist terrorist organization led by Vladimir Makarov.[3] To accomplish this goal, he must participate in a mass shooting at Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow.[4]
"No Russian" begins with the player in an elevator with Makarov and three other gunmen. "No Russian" is noticeably more graphic than any other level in the game-civilians' screams can be heard throughout and the crawling injured leave blood trails.[6][7] The player is not forced to shoot any civilians, however, and may instead walk through the airport as the massacre unfolds.[1] The game does not explicitly encourage the player to shoot civilians, and the gunmen do not react if the player does not shoot.[8] The player can shoot the gunmen, but they will retaliate, causing the player to fail the mission.[8] Once the player exits the airport, they enter a firefight with FSB agents, some of whom have riot shields.[2] The agents must be killed in order to complete the level.[9]
