Over 30 yrs I've used all types of gopher traps. Some problems I've encountered or feel exist with the DK-1 trap is 1) they need modifications, 2) they are plain steel and rust, 3) the bottom part of the trap will pivot down and snag on the roof of the tunnel, 4) they only come in 1 size. Steve Albano makes several stainless steel traps so if you have some juvenile gophers, you can use a large mole trap, no misses.
Thanks for the video. I just got some of these and think I'm pretty bright with stuff...nope, not that bright. I was trying to manually open the jaws and put the long leg of the tail between the jaw... Thanks again.
Great instructional for this. Clearly explains everything you need to know, step by step. The trap works great too. Stick it in the front of an open tunnel. Pop.
These traps are awesome and best I have used so far ......our gophers are tricky and huge....... I have found out as long as I find a tunnel that is very long and open .......bingo
Some of my DK traps are misfiring. What I mean by that is when I go to check the trap, the trigger plate is set but the rod is holding the jaws open. Can someone tell me why?
Ok, I have a bunch of gophers wrecking havoc in my back yard. in the past, I've placed small traps but they push them out. My question is, how do I know the direction the Gopher will be pushing so that I can place the dk1 in that direction?

These traps work great. I am having a lot of success with mine.

Looks very safe to work with. Also, looks to be an effective design.
Are you serious?! These things look like they hurt humans more than gophers. I bought several but they are dangerous!
I tried with gloves on but its still too dangerous to mess with. Are you sure you haven’t hurt more humans than gophers with this contraption?!?
Thank you.

Mine are doing it too. all of them.
1:48 are you sure the short end of the wire is over the jaw and not the long end of the wire? 💕🌞🌵😷
Guess I got weird one.

You can always stake down the trap with a tent stake.
@@Murphydoge Got it
Put one in each direction
either my hands are not strong enough to turn the handle all the way or I ruin the latch!
mine wont set off when the metal plate is hit
great video!
Nice Gloves!
I have NEVER caught a gopher with this trap. The "black box" by Victor is better.
you're setting it wrong. look someone else for instruction. the rod doesn't go over the trap.
