This is when you have total faith in your equipment the electrical equipment and everything to not fail you during a downpour, it takes a tremendous amount of energy to stay on point while soaking wet and rain pouring down this is why Metallica has been at the top since the 80s

Note that i am not a drummer, only a fan, so i don not have expert comments.
In my opinion Lars was not very good (mostly lazy double bass and lazy drum fills) for several years in the earlier 2000's.
To me it sounds and looks like he has been practicing more during the lates years? He has definitely been performing way better for a few years now!
Overall, he seems to be in better shape nowadays.

Man muss fairerweise aber auch sagen, dass das nicht immer direkt an den Bands selbst liegt. Gibt halt auch kleine Bands oder Veranstalter, für die wären durch Regen kaputtgegangenes Equipment der Schluss ihrer Karriere. Oder zumindest ein unnötiger Stolperstein. Ist natürlich auch ein Privileg auf eine gewisse Weise.
Aber du hast natürlich recht, dass es da grosse Hausnummern gäbe, die sich zu fein für sowas wären. Von daher sehr löblich \m/
