Without chuck berry and little Richard there is no such thing as rock and roll music to build on
Doesn't the audience realize they are in the presence of a founder of rock and roll? A legend.
I played piano for Chuck one night in Raleigh NC back in the late 80s..he hit on my wife..and she told him she was married to his piano player..he smiled and told her "He's Good!
Most guitar players look at their instrument but Chuck looks at the audience even while playing one of the most epic intros in history!
Maybe he should have... Just to have it in tune here and there. I mean nobody wants it perfect, but neither we want a Sonic Youth's version
He was just scoping out the women, creepy Chuck had his backstage and bathroom fun...
I'm so glad you pointed that out my friend 👍 that just makes him even more special , want this playing at my Funeral get it bouncing
But the bass player was lackluster. You would think that the 70's brought some bass game. But i don't know the Chuck Berry story.
@@MarkWoodChannel backstage fun ? well , he wont have been the only one ..enough said
One of the founding fathers of Rock and Roll. Nobody like him before or since.
THE real King of Rock and Roll.
Angus Young admitted Chuck Berry was his primary influence. Angus' duck walk is the same as Chuck Berry in the 1970s.
yes yes ❤❤❤❤❤RAa

Married a 13 year old child cousin. Incest, the game the whole family can play.
I'm almost 80 and remember when he was young. He changed the sound, the beat, the timbre and the subject matter of rock n roll. He also created the first youth groupie song ('Sweet Little Sixteen'), and the very first youth protest song ('School Daze'). After him, every rock and blues guitar player had to play his chops in one way or another. He was a genius and the Jimi Hendrix of his day. RIP my Brother.
Ты прав дедуля мне 48 и я в России а всеравно его слушаю
he told stories rather than sang songs
I'm old now, but I remember the first time I heard a Chuck Berry song,I jumped off the couch . Things were never the same! Rock and Roll forever.
I love that music!
😊

I am the same age as you. I remember it was 1958 when I first heard "Rock and Roll Music" on the radio. My taste in music was changed forever.
If you love Rock n Roll you are one of Chucks children.
He was definitely the king of rock and roll 🎸 😎🖤🖤🖤
Jerry Lee Lewis
We all know who the king is lol

As my brother put it, "If it ain't Chuck Berry it ain't Rock and Roll."
Thank god, no Yoko to scream
What does Yoko have to do with Chuck Berry?
kbrewski1 There's footage of John Lennon and Chuck Berry doing this song together and Yoko is on stage too. Thankfully her microphone seems to be switched off.
@paulcormican3733
Oh, the Toronto concert? You're really placing high expectations on the reader to know that connection right off the bat.....
@@kbrewski1 No it was a tv studio. Not a concert. Just looked up the performance was in 1972 on the Mike Douglas Show.
@@kbrewski1 Shut up.
This would have been a great era to see him live.
Up until about 20 years ago you could see him every Monday night at Blueberry Hill in University City (St Louis).
Nope..saw him in 74 at the rainbow theatre in London..He was poor, didn't really care and in spite of encouragement he insisted on playing very quietly..After 35 mins he was gone with no encore.. Apparently it was the same across the whole tour.
I was there and damn right it was.
@@davidglow3you just got him on a bad night. I was at a couple of his concerts at that time, one he opened for The James Gang, we wouldn’t let him leave the stage. James Gang had to play a tune with him before he could exit.
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and some guy named Elvis. Rock and Roll folks. The hall of fame. With Chuck and little Richard leading the Way!!! And Fats Donimo. God Bless all of them and more. LEGENDS!!!!!❤
Those guys in the past, they weren't ready for this stuff yet. But us kids, we loved it.
Doubtlessly the MOST famous R&R introduction, Jonny.B.Goode🎸
Still fun to watch.
Met him at Six Flags in 1976. This was behind the fence as I was an employee. He was nice to me. I remember his smile and his fingers. Very cool dude he was.
i love the way chuck berry plays the guitar and sing im learning how he plays the guitar one awesome guitar player and singer ilearning how he plays the guitar rest in peace always chuck berry
Best of the Best! Absolutely the King of Rock & Roll!!!!!!
A Legend
Chuck be Berry Berry good tonight.😲
Tremendous
Ty,Midnight Special, for putting on one of the best rock and roll guitar 🎸 players ever. You have amazing taste 🎉🎉
I saw Chuck Berry perform live in person 5 times in a small basement bar in St Louis, named the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill. Amazing. I was at his 80th birthday concert celebration. I was also one of the few who got to attend his Memorial Service at the Pageant down the street from his home base venue, Blueberry Hill. What a legend and performer!
I bet that was awesome and unforgettable. What a great man!
Lived in STL nearly my entire life and I do regret never seeing him at Blueberry Hill.
@@randytrashcan
Damn, that's unfortunate. He played there once a month for years. Toward his later years, people were flying in from Europe just to see him live, and he was selling out his monthly shows very quickly.
pure class
has anybody on earth ever felt more comfortable with a guitar in their hands?
Chuck Berry is show!!!
I went to his Memorial Funeral Service. He was lying in his coffin, dressed to the 9s in an all white suit, a ship Captains cap, and his guitar in the coffin!!
Somewhere a young Marty Mc Fly is watching this before he goes Back lol
Chuck is almost the best Rock'n Roller ever....!!! And he will in my heart forever......!!!! Absolute great music.....!!!
Almost? He IS THE REAL KING OF RnR. Like John Lennon said, look up the definition of RnR, you will see a picture of Chuck Berry.
@@kbrewski1So why is he wasting his time on a two bit show like the Midnight Special. I tell you why because his act is too small to fill out arenas.
ASTONISHING to say the least....
Genius my favourite artist ever
Elvis Presley is NOT the king of rock and roll. This man is and was!
Wrong
I can't believe this guy ripped his whole act off from Marty McFly!
That was Calvin Kline !
The best!!
Chuck Berry 👍👉💓💓💓
Lyrics:
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play a guitar just like a-ringin' a bell
Go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Johnny B. Goode
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh, the engineers would see him sitting in the shade
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made
The people passing by they would stop and say
"Oh my what that little country boy could play"
Go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Go Johnny, go, go
Johnny B. Goode
His mother told him "someday you will be a man
And you will be the leader of a big old band
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying "Johnny B. Goode tonight"
Go, go
Go Johnny, go
Go, go, go Johnny, go
Go, go, go Johnny, go
Go, go, go Johnny, go
Go
Johnny B. Goode
He is true King of Rock and Roll. May Chuck Berry forever rest in peace, and rock out in Heaven.
Angus Young so obviously admired Chuck Berry! fantastic!
Chuck Berry the best of the best!!!!
The King of Rock'n roll
How about that? One minute, Johnny Winter was performing that very song one night on The Midnight Special, then Chuck himself shows up!
The King of rock 'n'roll
I'm just glad his cousin Marvin called him that fateful night.
I am a big fan of Chuck and I listen to this song often. His best song. I believe he is the best Guitar player there has ever been.
❤ THE GOOD OLD DAYS
Bravo the réal king if rock’´ roll !
Those guys were ready for this and their kids are loving it too!

Real rock and roll, southern rock and roll. A rock hero
Never be another Chuck Berry.😊😊😊
Really wish I could have sat in on one of these Midnight Special shows like this one. I was too young at the time. I was a whopping 2 1/2 years old when this episode aired. LOL.

ESPECTACULAR, GRANDE CHUCK BERRY.
I like hism music a lot!¡!
Sheer genius.
Simply wow hey it's Chuck Berry !.
The King of the Blues, Willie Dixon, played bass for Chuck on the original recording of this hit!
Chuck Berry a true legend
Saw him live at the Locarno Ballroom, Stevenage UK in 1964. The place was full of 'mods' all moaning about this 'rocker' appearing - within 5 minutes they were ripping up the seats - wouldn't let him off the stage. We were all trying to learn and play his chops. There was one passage in his instrumental 'Liverpool Drive' that we were waiting for, to see how he did it - when he got to it, he was leaning over to talk to someone in the audience!
Why has it taken me so long to fall in love with him...l love his facial expressions so much...
The real king of Rock and Roll
I am 71 and must have heard a hundred bands play Johny B. Goode. But none played it like Berry when I heard him on Graffiti Night in Modesto, California in 1990 or something like that.
KING OF R R

Simplemente magia...
O cara é genial
Que lenda!!!!!!😮😅
Le meilleur rockeur de tous les temps 😊❤
I can see so much of Angus Young in this.
Angus was influenced by Chuck, but AC/DC's rock work was harder than this.
Keep looking and you'll see a lot of others there too. Then look a little bit deeper and you'll see Les Paul.
✊ I see~hear Keith Richards; Chuck influenced so many musicians 🎉
Que gran cancion.
Fantastic!!
he be coooool!
Like a fine wine ! Very hard to find again!
Father of rock ❤
Najbolji pevac ujedno i najgadniji😂😂😂

He was in Philadelphia during the bicentennial. He is unbelievable. I was on the maidenhead of the Mosholu ship at the waterfront. He did the famous duck walk. Amazing!
My favorite version ever
Fantastique Chuck Berry ❤
