I have grown up in the middle Georgia area(Macon, GA included) and am proud of the musical history we have here. Little Richard was 2nd to none and an absolute legend here. Currently we are redoing part of the interstate here and Richard's childhood home was where they were wanting to expand things for the interstate. The house was preserved and moved to another location to be still be used for Bibb County(Macon).

A huge influence on me but also an unsung civil rights giant as during a time of great division in America and extreme racism towards the African American Black Community, Little Richard pioneered the way for a black man in elevating the Blues and Rock into the mainstream of White America but still loved performing to integrated crowds. His raw stage presence and energy, not to mention his vocal range, power and musicianship dwarved the likes of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis. I saw him live. Best performer I ever saw. Very funny & genuine and he made himself available afterwards to meet, shake hands and take photos with anyone who wanted to. I can't say enough about what a nice, genuine person he is. Love you Richard P.

Just heard a few days ago. How come the world mourned the passing of Elvis Presley, but not Chuck Berry and Little Richard? Those were the 2 major influences that took a form known as 'boogie woogie" in the 30s and 40s and transitioned it into what we know as rock and roll? I may be wrong, but i believe it has to do with the fact that Elvis died like in his 40s, while Chuck Berry died at 90 and Little Richard at 87. Elvis was still in the center of attention when he died, so that had a more devastating effect, while Chuck Berry and Little Richard lived to a ripe old age. That does not diminish their contributions to music and the world, but people seem more attuned to people whose lives ended too soon than people that lived a full life. May they rest in peace and a thank you from a man who uses their music to deal with life and all of its hardships.

Little Richard seems like sitting down and talking having good conversation would be a great thing to do along with a glass of wine or champagne you would just have a great time.
Little Richard was THE main influence on all the Beatles, Rolling Stones and all other British groups. Without him, and Elvis, we would not have had the music of the ‘60’s and beyond to present day
