  • This video explains the repairing process of a defective power button on the Sony WH-CH700N wireless noise cancelling headphones.
    In this case the internal switch, which is mounted on the motherboard, fell apart and was no longer functioning.
    By removing the remaining parts of the old switch and replacing it with a new. one, the headphones started working again and it is no problem now to turn them on again.
    This is the replacement switch, which was used in this video:

      @@maylonkirby5455 Hi, it is called Flux. This is necessary to create a proper bond between the switch and the PCB.
      I prefer using the type of flux that comes in a syringe, like this one: amzn.to/3impWF4
      But it also comes in many other forms (which are often cheaper).

    Another tip that I just learned, which is an amazing help if you don't have a soldering gun and can't find the parts, is that the CH007N headphones have NFC capability, so if you have a phone that's also NFC enabled, you can turn on the sony headphones remotely with your phone. It works on iPhone 7 and later, and plenty of other devices.

      is there any similar way to get it to go to pairing mode so that i can pair my pc with it?

    • @aenamabag
      @aenamabag 3 года назад

      @@mik4336 Good question, and unfortunately I don't have an answer. It's a shame that entering pairing mode uses the power button as well. When you use NFC to turn it on, it doesn't automatically pair with the device used to turn it on, so it does at least allow you to pair other devices. But I don't know about pairing mode. I wonder if just holding the NFC device to the headphones for an extra 5-10 seconds would have the same effect as holding down the power button? Worth testing it out.

    How long do you heat the switch before it comes off? I was heating it for a while and the switch wouldn't come off. Ended up melting part of the headphone from under the motherboard. Smh..

    I have the same pair of headphones. but I got a different problem. They can be turned off and on just fine, but when I plug a micro-usb cable for charging, it never charges. I tried different cables, different USB ports and also tried a known working headphones with the same port / USB cable and they charge. I also noticed that if they are turned on and a cable is connected, everything stops. I am suspecting a shorted motherboard - what do you think?

    • @tazman8697
      @tazman8697 2 года назад

      Quite possibly the micro usb port on the headphones.....Type B are notorious for breaking pins- distorting etc. Try squeezing the top and bottom of the plug together with some needle nose pliers.

Although the minimum amount of switches to purchase there is 20, the shipping is 5 €, so with taxes included the order is around 12 €. Not bad, but the headphones owner has to decide xD. It's a shame the switch broke due to a fall from very low height. I've still got the upper parts, but it seems impossible to join them back together...
