Looking good mate love your hi utsuri’s,one thing though is wrapping fleece around the eazy section of the nexus , I can see what your trying to do , but that will block very quickly and cause the level in your outer chamber to drop , if your worried about fines getting through the nexus then slow the flow rate down on your pump you will find that helps no end ,
Hi matey, I tried running the pumps slower but the water clarity was getting worse for me so I’ve up the pump back up almost at full, I think I’m gonna remove the fleece 😬👍🏻thank you for watching
The Nexus 220 is for ponds with a maximum capacity of 4000 gallons and with yours being 3400, your running at close to its maximum capacity, and your asking it to do something that it can’t! I think that’s where your disappointment with filter performance is coming from, and the need for all the attempted upgrades! You’ll never be 100% satisfied with its performance. You’d probably be much better with the Nexus 320 which can also run a much better flow rate and give substantially better results! Plenty come up on eBay as people swap to drums, and if you resold yours it would cost you very little to upgrade! Everything is very similar to the 220 so you could probably do it comfortably in a weekend! Remember, in Koi keeping, you can never have too big a filter!
Hi mate, I am 2500 gallons not 3400gallons, I have 2 bakki showers now installed in too, there’s plenty filteration, I’m not disappointed with the system at all I be done many improvements since this video, and I have also brought a drum from queni koi, thanks 👍🏻
@@just4koi143 It was you that said in one of the other comments to this video that your system held 3400 gallons, and that’s the figure that matters and was wrapping filter floss around the easy to improve clarity! 🤷🏻♂️ But with a drum you really don’t need as much conventional filtration as it reduces the load massively!
@@just4koi143 If you ever add salt to your pond you can very accurately calculate the total volume of water in the system using a good quality salt meter, something like the Koi Medic one! Take a reading before adding salt as tap water can have low residual readings (mine has 0.02%!). And 24 hours after adding a measured quantity, say 25kg. And note the change, say 0.28%. Now divide the kg added 25 by the percentage reading 0.28 multiply by 100 will give you total litres divide this figure by 4.54 to get UK imperial gallons! So:- 25 divide by 0.28 = 89.285 x 100 = 8928.57 litres, divided by 4.54 = 1966.6 gallons! It’s a very precise way of calculating pond volume, which is absolutely essential when doing pond treatments as under dosing can be almost as bad as overdosing! But NEVER add and Formaldehyde based treatments, PP or Chloramine T while salt level is 0.3% or higher!
I will second what plants and rants is saying the fleece in the easy is going to block fast you will be forever swapping it out and being pump feed its going to over flow if you don't keep an eye on it. This is where a bottom drain comes in no chopped poo. The easy will do a better job if you slow the flow down as its fighting fines that the pumps making so give the flow a cut in speed should improve the amount of fines getting taken out
Just for a test if you take a pint glass of water from the pond let stand for half hour then a second one an put them side buy side in the light is there muck settling to the bottom of the glass ? does the new glass look worse than the one left standing ? come back with what you find
Probably not fines then more water colour sorry I cant think now if you use pond clay if not get some that will help and in my last video with James pop along to the Koi cornicles channel and have a go at making a foam skimmer the links below the video that's working and removing the colour i have in my water also make sure the Uv is doing is job and the glass tube is clean
Hi matey, I am using 2 pumps for now which are evolution Aqua 10000(Nexus 220)and 30000 (Bakki Shower)which are pump fed, I will also be adding the third pump once I get a pre filter installed for the Bakki Shower, thanks👍🏻

@@ces69 yes I did my mistake, I have toke accurate measurements of the pond
