    Great information on shower media Jamie 👌🏼. Always baffles me how people instantly dismiss something they know nothing about 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Absolutely mate if he had a comparison or even just did some research it would have been different but just to dismiss something with out knowing anything about it 🤷 I bet he's looked it up since and has changed his mind 😉

    I've always wondered if I could fit a Baki Shower on the side of my pond? I had one all measured up at one point then a new fish came along on there went the cash at the time.. Great update Jamie... 😉👍

      Thanks bud appreciate it and yeh they really are great filters for bio out of all the filters I've used over the last 16 years bakki showers definitely do the best bio IMO but they are expensive especially when filled as the media costs more than the shower and I would only recommend getting one if your trying to improve on your parameters if there already spot on you don't really need one 👍

      I have a smaller Queni koi one but it's full of momatoro.
      Space was an issue for me.
      Water params changed from decent to amazing.
      Do it mate
      You'll never look back

    Hi Jamie, another great update. I do run a small amount of the BioHome media in my shower, as you noticed when you popped round to see me. Think I've got about 3 or 4kg in mine. Keep up the good work mate, and roll on spring 👍👍take care and stay warm, Terry.

    Hi Jamie, I have 15 Kilo in my aquarium cannister filters, its been in them about a month now, I replaced all the plastic balls, and the none porus ceramic rings, so I now have beside the 15 Kilo of BioHome Ultra two trays of clay balls, and two half trays of foam, so I think I could get another 10 Kilo of the Ultra in them, I just swap out one tray at a time to keep the bacteria going during the swap, in the last month I have seen some real improvement on my water, given the tanks hold a small quantity of water and are supporting quite a high load from the Koi, it is without question very good media, always enjoy your vids, looking forward to your brick build pond, best wishes, Tony😀

    Your filter looks really clean! I'll have to check out that media. Maybe I'll give it a try 😊 Does the media get smaller over time? The new media looks a lot bigger than the ones you you've had for a while

    • @keepingitkoi
      @keepingitkoi  Год назад +1

      Hey Aquamigo no it never degrades the few people I know from the koi club that have been using over 20 years it still looks the same as the day they bought it, the smaller ones were bought that size as its the same media just designed for fish tanks 🤣

    Hi Jamie was just wondering when would you recommend I turn my shower back on as I turned it off for winter
    Good update by the way and that looks a good media

    • @keepingitkoi
      @keepingitkoi  Год назад +1

      thanks Gavin 👍🏻 |I havent turned mine off at all this year as turning off your shower over winter obviously you will lose all the beneficial bacteria the you grew over the summer,
      but turning it back on you really want to do that before you start feeding at least a few weeks before to allow the media to start colonising again before you start producing more ammonia with feeding,
      personally id do it now but some people wait to make sure there are no more frosts,
      but there is no right or wrong answer to that but the sooner you turn it on the quicker the bacteria can start which means the sooner you can start feeding 👍🏻hope this helped 👍🏻

    Just watched some more of the video and got to the part about the 900 pounds for the media I would look at crystal bio, I think it's great and much cheaper.

      @keepingitkoi  Год назад

      It's 80cm wide and 3 tiers high I'm not 100% on the height if you need to know i could measure it tomorrow for ya👍, but recommend is 12000lph and up, but you can get away with 10k IMO 👍 if you want less flow go for a 60cm wide 👍

    Hahaha Baki house media rofl that's like when some are saying saki hikari is the best food ever, and when you ask for prove all they have to go with is that some one has won a prize feeding it or that the Japanese feed it so it must be the best same with that media everyone is copying the Japanese and they probably just laugh their ass off when they see how much we spent buying thing for 5 times the price in the UK cause if import cost yet they get it cheap cause it's made in Japan and that's why they use it.

    • @keepingitkoi
      @keepingitkoi  Год назад

      Absolutely 💯% mate at the end of the day the best media is the media that can hold the most bacteria in the space that provided and biohome holds more and takes up less space I did look a the bio crystal but after some extensive research found alot of people saying it wears down after some years where as biohome never breaks down so foe the extra cost and the extra bio it holds I'm gunna keep buying it till my shower is full 👍
