I have to admit clicking on this video i did not expect not only this level of the audiovisual side but most importantly the quality of the knowledge you had. Thank you for this video. It’s truly great and what RUclips was originally meant to promote
Just found this video 2 months before I go to Frankfurt. I love the concept of 5 senses in each city. I'm so excited to experience Frankfurt and you've given me so many food ideas. 😋
Thank you very much for capturing the real frankfurt and not just criticizing the tiny hauptbahnhof area like all the other youtubers who thought that a room for 30 euros was a good idea. Frankfurt has so much to offer and is one of the most relaxed and calm cities with skyscrapers in the world. It also has a very high quality of life and infrastructure for its citizens.
I appreciate that! It's a shame that others base their perception of Frankfurt just on the train station area-like any big city on the planet, there are so many layers to Frankfurt, and the Hauptbahnhof area is just a tiny piece of the puzzle. I agree completely with how relaxed and calm it feels. Great city, delicious food, beautiful architecture, and very kind people.
Maybe it is worth to mention, that pretty much all cities in Germany have a rule: no building may be higher, than the highest church. Frankfurt is the only German city that has skyscrapers.
Amazing video. Very well done even though sometimes slightly confusing (but I guess since it's from the perspective of a tourist it's understandable and ok ^^) The only thing I strongly disagree with as a Frankfurter (and sorry but it really made me gag 😅) is the music bavarian beergarden choice in the back. Not fitting and has nothing to do with us (we're in Frankfurt not in Munich 😉.... it's like making a video about NYC and coloring it with John Denver country music "Rocky mountain high" just becaus it's 'American' .... get it 😜) But overall very nice. Love the video ❤
That makes a lot of sense! I'll admit I had a hard time figuring out what kind of music would capture Frankfürt the best - what genre would you say is the most "Frankfurter?"
@@asenseoftravel Frankfurt is a very modern metropolislike city that filled the gaps between the leftover buildings from times of old and has that unique apple wine culture that is very regional. So I think modern urban music choice as well as classical in a mix would suit it best. Or german "Schlager" music from the 1920s-70s 🙂👍.... that will capture the city's spirit depending on the scenes the audience sees.
Thank you! And nice-Sachsenhausen was a cool area for sure. I didn't make it over there at night time so I imagine the bars and pubs are a bit more lively
The only video I've seen that actually makes Frankfurt look kinda fun. Most internet commentators seem to think Frankfurt is basically a giant bore full of crazy homeless people.
I really appreciate this amazing blog- and you including the smells of each place which truly makes your experience stand out. I'm transported there! Going to visit Frankfurt and Berlin in the summer for the first time, and this has only heightened my excitement. Thank you
Hi, you should have dropped some words about the vast history of the Römerberg and the Cathedral. Frankfurt was the election and crown City of the Holy Roman Empire for centuries . The Römerberg was the stage of vast gatherings during these times.
The state of Bavaria consists of the cultural region Franconia in the north and the so called region of Old-Bavaria in the south. In Old-Bavaria you will not find any half-timbered houses but those with a typical alpine touch. So calling the style of northern or central regions of Germany typical Bavarian is like claiming Texas barbecue is the typical dish in Maine and Oregon. Oh, and the tradional shindles in Frankfurt are not made of terracotta but of slate 😉
Thanks for this comment and info! A few people have commented this and I think it's so interesting. In the US (where admittedly, we're not culturally up-to-speed), half-timbers are almost always labeled as "Bavarian." That said, I'm happy to spread the word that it is not ;)
@@asenseoftravel Where to start. There are some many misconceptions around. 😁 But I'll never get tired. And as other people are constantly working on it. I'm joyning the club. The Oktoberfest starts in september and is situated exclusively in Munich. All other beer festivals in Germany have there own names. Calling a beer festival "Oktoberfest" outside of Munich .... is American 😗 Germany does not automaticly mean beer. Wine is the predominant cultural drink in many regions of central and south-western Germany. Frankfurt e.g. has third type of drink: apple wine, kind of a less sweet cidre. Most beer per capita is drunken in the Czech Republic followed by Austria. There is no such thing as THE typical German cuisine. The dishes a very much influenced by the climat, the soil, the neighboring nations and the proximity to the sea. Oh, and did you know that this little man with the funny tiny mustage was Austrian. Whereas Beethoven was German.
Small corrections: The shopping center is called "My Zeil" and the roof/viewing platform of the Main Tower is 200m high. The tower with antenna has a height of 240m.
@@danitoni4741 You mean the Commerzbank Tower with 259m (300m with antenna/spire). And the other building you mentioned is the Millenium Tower which was basically planned with a height of 365m. Now their are planning two towers. Tower 1 with a minimum roof height of 288m (in Frankfurt the final heights are usually 5-15m higher than the original planned heights) and Tower 2 should min. 157m high.
