Is Crash Twinsanity actually GOOD? [Review]

  • I have a theory. A game theory. A theory that suggests that a game doesn't need to be good to be good. Sounds confusing, but I think there's something legit behind it. Crash Twinsanity is a pretty good example of this, and in this video, I discuss how it explains a feeling that I usually struggle to articulate. I hope you enjoy! :]

9:35 Can you believe they made a whole java mobile game of Crash Twinsanity out of this single part of the game?

Unpopular opinion but interms of openworld Crash game, I prefer Tag Team Racing over Twinsanity. Twinsanity felts too linear and part of me believes that it should've been another classic Crash game. Tag Team Racing, on the other hand, despite its mediocre racing, has hub worlds to explore. Sure there isn't much to do but the side content helps out. Let's not forget that Crash can grab edges and climb ladders in Tag Team.
What I don't like about Twinsanity is that once you enter a certain area, you can't leave until you complete it. So if you step into the 10th Dimension portal, well guess what? You have to complete the WHOLE levels from Twinsanity Island to Ant Agony in order to leave. In Tag Team, if I accidently walked into Astro Land, no biggie, I can simply leave.
Let's not forget the fact that Twinsanity is short, especially for completionist. Crystals feel pointless after the Academy of Evil, find all the gems are a hit or miss, and there's no time trial relics.
Tag Team Racing has SO MUCH to do. I remember sinking hours as a kid on trying to 100% it. And the crystals serve a purpose again.
If you like Twinsanity, that's fine. For me, it's just a game that I would play occasionally.

Twinsanity is one of the crash games of all time. If you disagree, you're clearly biased and objectively wrong.

Twinsanity is like lightning in a bottle. Despite its flaws its still special to alot of us and it something i dont think can be recaptured again.

I enjoyed the game, but it’s not something I want to play again. I got the the game form Christmas the year it came out-I had no idea it was an “open-world” game, at the time. Upon playing it for the first time, I was extremely disappointed. And the game was a little too difficult for 6 year old me. I got stuck numerous times, on the sliding mini games and in that arctic cave level. The also decided to freeze on the level before the Nina level. It was just, not a super fun experience. Crash of the Titans I liked a lot better despite not being a standard Crash game.

I totally agree with that concept. Not all games have to be good, just because a game can be good. And I honestly am not looking for a perfect game, for me I’m just looking for a game I can have fun with, if I’m having fun, then I enjoy it, even if it takes a while for said level to load, as long as I enjoy the game, I could careless at the end of the day personally ^^
I mean heck even if I struggle with levels and get into troubles that get me frustrated and hate them for their challenges, I don’t care, as long as I have fun and feel awarded, then that’s cool with me!
Side note I have never played this game, but I can tell this game is super crazy and pretty cool for what it is! Not a game I would play, but it’s still cool!

of course a buggy/broken game can be fun! I completely agree with that. just look at pokemon scarlet and violet or cyberpunk 2077. Two gigantic hits that were extremely buggy, yet sold ridiculously well

I didn't like Crash Twinsanity and i still don't. I found it to be too big of a departure from what made Crash Bandicoot what it was. And it's why i don't think highly of the Radical games either.
Crash Twinsanity, to me at least, feels like a Crash game in name only. By that, you could replace the Crash characters & worlds, with a brand new set of characters & worlds, and it would be just a standard 3D open platformer with collectibles and a tacked-on gimmicky mechanic that's only there to set it apart from the rest.
Spinoffs are one thing, which is why Crash Bash, Crash Team Racing & Crash Team Rumble get the pass. But for a mainline entry, that's crossing the line.
    As a game like others, it's a 4-5/10.
    As a Crash game, it's a 1/10.
