    Why was the UnderCity + WonderLand Bundle free this month? Its terribly low-quality and I can think of hundreds of infinitely more deserving assets that should've replaced it.

      That's if the asset owners agree to the free for the month contract/even want to. When epic had gamesfromscratch sponsor a month of assets he asked his discord members for a want list. Voxel plugin($350 usd) was one of the popular ones. So when epic contacted them they offered only 700(total) if I remember right, twitter thread deleted.
      So for about 2 copies worth they would have completely destroyed their revenue stream, which at the time was apparently waaaaaayy higher per month than what epic offered.
      Guessing other times or other assets that would be a great deal if you haven't had any sales in a long time.

      Because your hundreds of infinitely more deserving assets think they would make more money than Epic would pay them and/or they simply didn't apply.

      Still, Epic does the free assets to get people to start using the engine and try to build good games which might eventually hit the royalty minimum. This garbage back is frustrating for new (and experienced) users, and makes the engine and company look bad.
      It's not bad in the sense that it's low poly or meant for a mobile game, it's like someone took a middle school 3d graphics project and packaged it for the asset store. I hear about developers struggling to pass the quality check for the asset store, I have no idea how this got on there let alone got chosen for free asset of the month. Even the clickbait youtube videos showing off the free assets every month struggled to make it look appealing, the best they could say was "with lots of cleanup, some of these assets may be usable in a mobile game".

    when you release a random Tuesday update to ue5.4 without notice (you've done this before), it's commendable that you also release the patch notes on the "news" section of the epic games' launcher; august's update is 3.5gb, and I have no way to know what's in the update

      Every hotfix has a forum thread that lists every bug that was fixed in it. If you have trouble finding it, it's always linked on the Github page for the release.

    • @BlueUniverseChannel
      @BlueUniverseChannel 5 месяцев назад +6

      They are free and able to use freely afterwards but you have to claim it the month they are free

    • @PiLuLyArus
      @PiLuLyArus 5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for all the replies. Forgive my ignorance, but what does the the word "claim" mean in in the replies?
      Is it giving credit to the original creator(s) ?
      Where would that credit go?
      On the loading screen?
      Somewhere in the description before the my project is downloaded?
      Sorry if I seem too focused on this, I just don't want to break the rules on this. These assets are very generous. I want to be sure everyone gets credit for thier work.
      Thanks

      @@michaelbond4609 Just means you have add to your cart and "purchase" them from the unreal marketplace, same as you would for any free or paid asset on the marketplace, completely up to you if you want to credit them or not
