I am 60 yrs old and just bought a ‘13 Limited AWD. I bought my first minivan when my children were young and needed the room. The ‘13 is my 4th minivan that I’ve owned and find them to be the most versatile and provide maximum utility. The people that mock them and make fun of have probably never owned one. The SUVs of today might provide the ability to carry more than 5 people but that leaves you all of 6 inches of space to haul anything behind the 3rd seat. The minivan wins every time!
Hi Peter, I’ve been a long time viewer but never commented. But I just have to comment this time. We have a 2014 sienna XLE AWD that we purchased in 2016 at 40,000 miles. Everything has been really good with this van. My wife drives my kids around in this van almost every day. However, last year at 100,000 miles the transmission just quit on the highway. There is just no power at all. I’ll step on the gas. It will rev up but the car does not move. It was fortunate that I was driving it and I was able to coast out of an exit and just stranded us on the side of the curb ~100 miles from home. We towed it to a Toyota dealer they charged us almost $7500 to put in a brand new transmission. everything felt good before that and it was just a sudden total loss of the transmission. I didn’t hear any grinding sound or hard shifting before that. Have you ever experienced this problem with Toyota cars or even a sienna? Anyone else ever had this problem with sienna or Toyota transmissions?
We've owned our 186k miles, '05 LE since new. Aside from tires and front brake pads several times each and rear shoes once, it's needed a radiator, starter, front struts, exhaust from y-pipe back and a bank 2 front o2 sensor. I replaced the servo for the sliding door but gave in to it being a manual door once the cable snapped😀 3MZ-FE, I did the timing belt kit w/water pump at 140k in 2015. ATF has been flush pumped once with Mobil-3309 and full synthetic oil changes (oem Denso filter) at 5k intervals. The Aisin "slush box" transmission still shifts as oddly as when new, but I stopped worrying about it failing years ago... Northern New York road salt will rot the uni-body to a state inspection fail at some point, but we'll replace it with a new Sienna Hybrid even tho the kids are now 25 and 30. We've been all Toyota since 1993. Various Camrys, Prii, Tundra, but the Sienna simply rules all comparisons. Our love for it only grows!
I just bought an 06 Limited AWD Sienna with 130,000 on it. I love it and hope to get over 300,000 on it. It was pretty mint condition, garage kept, one owner and no accidents. Drives like a dream! You’d never know it’s 16 years old.
Thank you Peter. We have a 2011 Sienna XLE AWD. Smoothest ride that I can ever imagine. I do oil and oil filter change every 5k miles and clean engine air filter as well. Had some issue with side door closer as you mentioned. I rush the repair and wound up breaking window switch. Lesson learned. The van rides so smooth with 185k miles on the odometer. I could take a serious kraut break in that vehicle and enjoy a California coastline view. Until then Ill remain in a New York state of mind. Be well Peter. Hope your Volkswagen is running well. You D Man.
Had a '13 LE after least owned'. New '15 SE and loved it, however, the main complaint about Toyota's back then was "numb"-steering. Ours would want to wander when on-center at freeway speed. ...only issue we had. Recommend it highly. ..nice memories, and they haul bikes inside, easily. Thanks.
Check your suspension wear items. Especially tie rod ends. You can also increase front wheel PSI by a few lbs to help with that. Also toe in the alignment slightly.
My master has a 95 model 1.6 injection corollam. The gear knob seems to get stuck while the vehicle is shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. I've done pressure pad tests and it doesn't seem to be finished. So it doesn't miss. It only happens when putting on 2nd gear, why do you think? If you enlighten me, I wish you a good day. It doesn't do it all the time. If we throw it 10 times, it does it in 3 or 4 times. There is no hang-up when it's idle, it's in motion.
A dealership this morning tried to sell my girlfriend's family a twenty twelve sienna with the v six, Saying everything was good for it but it had literally zero coolant in the reservoir and in the radiator. Do you know what the most common cause for a coolant leak in those engines is? Her mom is being irrational and is adamant about buying it still.
Head gasket leaks on this engine are usually due to poor maintenance. Change with Toyota coolant every 5 years or 60 thousand miles. The fact it is bone dry would make me pass. Was this at a Toyota dealer or used car dealer?
@@jake6483 like ddk80 said, poor maintenance. I also second his third party inspection and overnight pressure test the system. As well as compression test the cylinders. And get IN WRITING: any coolant or head gasket problems will be covered for a warranty period of no less than two summers. They are trying to con your future mother in law. This is uncommon for this engine.
I got a 2004 Sienna CE, best thing ever. I would not recommend the AWD, many people I know with those hate the expense of the AWD components. The worst thing about the newer ones is you cannot put the mid seats together to have better acces to the back seats In my version the doors are very weak, the stopper strap always breaks and the metal on the door always fails. It's normal to have to change the engine mount when doing the timing belt. Absolutly no good reason for this, manufactured by Toyota to fail.
@@CarlosRamirez-jn9fs Unless someone modified it, or put on fake badges, 2015 Toyota Sienna's came in various FWD trims(SE, LE, XLE) and an AWD option, no 4X4.

And even after the rot, you still have sticker slap stations that are only open after 5PM in the communist PRNY

Watch out for the rubber oil cooler line in the 2GR as well. Bye crocodile.
We just bought a 2014 sienna le. Love it so far
Looking at one tomorrow, can they have a 2 inch lift done on them easily? Live in the country need more clearance!
👍👍Thanks for sharing.

Can you explain how the awd apply on the 2014 sienna limited premium or if it is any procedure to perform. Thanks
Petr, Just imagine, they have Lexus minivans in other markets which are even more luxurious.🤩
Are there grease fittings on the drive shaft? How often do you grease them?
Best practical car is a Toyota Matrix / Vibe close to 40 miles per gallon and just as much utility. Room for 6? Who can afford a family that size?
Hello. Where are you located? Near San Diego? I’m interested in bringing you my Prius for a check up 👍
Nowhere near SD, other end of the state by Oregon. Eureka area. 13-14 hours no traffic. You sure?
There’s plenty of great Toyota specialist shops in So Cal, especially in the SD area.

run far far away!! These are known for head gasket leaks. You have to drop the engine to fix it.

What about the 4wd
@@CarlosRamirez-jn9fs What about it? no such thing on a Sienna
I just bought a 2015 Sienna 4 wheel drive do u think those have the same issue as the AWD

Sorry my bad it's not a 4wd it's a front wheel drive, thank you for answering by questions
