We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this last week. The word love, is multifaceted, however, there's one kind of love that is selfless, kind and giving. Its a joy in seeing someone else happy. That's the kind of love that we have.
I do agree that its important to consider once's marriage as holy. Another word is sacred. Its a promise to this other person that you will do everything in your means to stay with them and take care of them for the rest of your life. It forms a secure foundation for family who will need a united family unit.
I don't think that people find their soul mate by chance. The person you marry needs to be your soul mate. In our case, we are Christians, so there's a triangle between God and each of us. We serve God first, so that we can best serve each other. When you have arguments, one can refocus their mind on the highest order things and this can get a person back on the right page.
Be careful of those who say that marriage should be 50/50 because that's from the wrong, give/take mindset. That's more like a business arrangement than a marriage. Instead, strive for 100/100 where each of you strive to love each other completely. I think that as Christians, we know very well that we are flawed by nature. So, it changes the expectations also. Instead of struggling for each others needs, we can strive for our own refinement.

I certainly agree that marriage and dating are quite different. As for the meaning of marriage, I think each person has to establish that for his- or herself and hopefully couples come to a mutual understanding of each other's definition. Interesting video, Ms. Moon.

Mariage is to thank god (or your partner or just life, doesnt really care if you dont believe in god) for being so lucky to have met this person and the life he gave you. And you promess in front of god that you will make your best to maintain your mariage forever.

The meaning of marriage? It’s a solemn vow to love, cherish, honor, and obey (some don’t agree with the obey part:) each other for the rest of your life
Unfortunately marriage certificates have become as disposable as dirty diapers
Being invited to a Golden Wedding anniversary party is rare nowadays. It’s sad

Hallo JoJo, My grandmother used to say "You're not just marrying a woman, you're marrying another family".
Nowadays in Germany there are also many couples who are not married and have children. Some also marry only because there is a tax relief.
But what does marriage mean now? A sacred connection between two people. In our church, the two of them have to say something. "I will love and respect and honor you until death do us part."
Isn't it nice to be with someone you love? Watching the kids grow up and then the grandkids.
I would like to tell a little story about my grandmother.. My grandmother and grandfather met during the war and got married in 1943. My grandmother didn't want to have children during the war, which I can understand. At the age of 37 my grandfather died in a car accident. My father was 11 years old and was waiting longingly for his dad who never came back. My grandmother never remarried after that and had no other husbands, so intense was her love for him.
Take care and we see us in the next video.

Those that are self centred will say dont get married and tend to divorce. True love and marriage is self sacrificing to each other and keeping the circle between just the 2 of you, ignoring corruption by family friends and others

I think you get married once and forever. There are big challenges but thats how you grow as a person . You can still have commitment without being married but when the difficult times hit it’s easier to walk away. Married life is the best but it’s not for everyone.

Hello pretty lady. I am 60 years old and never married. I honestly can say that I don't see very many mentally healthy people around. I came from a very bad childhood and have spent my life working on myself and trying to overcome what I have been through. I am happy with where I am now and I have come a long way from where I started. The idea of being in another bad relationship is like asking me to play the lottery and hope it would work out... I'm glad I bought a motorcycle recently and enjoy walking in the forest alone and saying hello to people I pass on the walk. I don't have much hope on meeting someone healthy and nice.
    Dave from Canada.

Oh man, I have the same experience, background and age as you, and as you I bought a motorbike (ten years ago), but due to an accident in Spain 2017 there is no more bike in my ownership. But I haven't stopped traveling for that reason, I plan a new trip every year, this year is no exeption, but without motorbike 😉. I said to Ms Moon that I gave up on woman 25 years ago, and I don't really have any regrets of that descision, rather the opposite.

make sure you really love someone before you marry, and then have people who know both of you talk to you about your choice. love can be really blind, so an uninterested party could save you. your personal idea of marriage and family i think increases the chances for a happy life.

The longer that I live, the more I encounter people in my travels who say the same thing regarding marriage. All I will say about it is that when my mind is clear, I don't want to deal with it. The primary reason why is because people are never satisfied no matter how much you may do for them and give them. At some point, you have to stop and say, "what is going on here?"

women always give other women absolutely terrible advice! even so-called "friends"
young women basically enable each other to make stupid decisions. and older women are bitter and jealous, so they tell young women stupid things too.
i don't know what this marriage score is. but yes, every marriage has issues. men are much more easily content, while women never seem to stop wanting more or different.
however, a good society is built on strong families. and there is nothing more rewarding in life than raising a good kid.

    • @rokko_fable
      @rokko_fable Год назад

Also, saying traditional women lack personality is very disrespectful. the pursuit of family and being a good wife is much more noble than what the vast majority of young women are chasing today.
      and men love traditional women.

Marriage? Never again for this puppy. Got divorced, on my 30th year of living together with my soul mate. No legal obligations or ties, but we take care of each other like we take care of ourselves. We work together for the common good with our different skill sets. No sprog. I got fixed when I was 19, and am now 61. I can't stand having the annoying things around, period!.

The kid is the only thing restraining her, which means the desire to cheat is there. What will she do when the kid is gone? She will divorce, cheat, or merely live in the same house with her husband but no longer be in love. Why live that way?

A marriage based on being "in-love" is doomed from the start .
Being "in-love" is hormonal and hormones change over time , for some it's monthly , bi-weekly or medication ( legal and/ or illegal chemicals ) change .
Marriage is a legal contract plain and simple .
What is put into that "legal" contract is between the 2 people getting married .
Why most marriages fail is because it is not thought of as a "legal" contract , but rather seen as a Disney / Hollywood fairy tale .
The love , cherish , honor , and obey are not understood by modern people which are used in vows
Love = ? ----------to me is trust , without trust it is just sexual attraction which fades
Cherish = ?------to me is to think/treat of other as special always , don't take other person for granted
Honor = ?--------to me is to not break the trust , break the trust you have destroyed the other 3
Obey = ?---------to me is to the legal contract not a person
Fill in the blanks for yourself and discuss with your partner
My answers will be different than yours just like I bet your partners will be different than yours
