This reminds me of The Addams Family movie when Morticia is going through the wardrobe "Uncle Nick Knacks winter wardrobe... Uncle Nick Knacks summer wardrobe... Uncle Nick Knack"
Leo’s girl Probably because Morticia is a name derived from Mortician.
Yes! I just recently watched the movie and immediately thought of this comment!
blubell24 Say good buy to life, and are they made from real girl guides are two of my favourite.
Love that scene lol 😂
Always one of my favorite lines
"You leave your mark on the world by just getting through it."
....and a rando corpse in your closet doesn't hurt either . Talk about a "deathdrop" literally.
"You leave a mark on another human being's forehead by just shooting through it"
Getting through the murder..
If it was self-defense (and I believe it was), she never would've gotten a fair trial. And I don't think people understand what happens to transgender people in prison. It would've been a lifetime of rape and torture.
True :(
I agree with you 100%
Yep! I’m actually glad she didn’t say anything
Dorian did what she had to do. You're exactly right.
yes, i believe this as well
Wow. So that scene in Pose where Elektra keeps that body in her closet is based off actual events. Wild.
I think Elektra is partially inspired by Dorian because they both have extensive and amazing wardrobe

@google google HAHAHAH!! Daannnnngggg LOL
Probably thought they had found a beaded and bejeweled masterpiece of drag fashion fabulousness. What a gut punch. Totally understand why Dorian chose to hide the body. It was really, in all fairness to everyone except perhaps the body of the abuser itself, the only option.
"you can take any of my famous costumes that you want, but you have to deal with the corpse I hid behind them"
Honestly, fair deal
“They’ll find the corpse, but I’ll be a corpse too, so who cares?”
Someone as legendary as Dorian Corey leaves me any outfits I want but I have to clean up the corpse behind it, sure I’ll probably do it. Thank you ma’am.
When "Skeletons in the Closet" means you are hiding your identity but you already came out so you actually do keep skeletons in there.
Well... Now you have space...
“They’ll find the corpse, but I’ll be a corpse too, so who cares?”
more the merrier!
You could say... she slayed
and she also gatekeeped
Something that’s so cryptic is that Corey ASKED her friends to go through the closet for her garments, like she would HAVE TO KNOW the body would be discovered eventually.
Maybe that was her way to finally confess the burden, this must’ve taken a toll on her all those 20 years but we may never know unfortunately
@EyelessAugust Maybe she forgot the corpse even in her closet. Life gets busy and stuff gets pushed to the back.
My closet is a fraction of her’s and I have no idea what is in it. Could be a tennis racket from middle school, could be Jimmy Hoffa.
probably hoping they would keep her secret. it really sounds like the act of a truly awful psychopathic person.
@@pandastylearmy5938if she trusted them why didn’t she just confess to them?
video: Dorian killed someone
me: oh no >:(
video: Worley was arrested for rape and assault
me: oh, carry on.
I didn't get it right.
So, if you belong to a minority adopted by progressivism, is it okay if you kill and hide the body of someone with a drinking history and a criminal history?
He killed someone and then left the body to rot.
Didn't the victim's family have a right to know what happened and arrange a funeral? The body was only discovered because the KILLER died, what if he hadn't?
If he had concerns about how he would be remembered, KILLER.
@@mestreg5687 *It's not that you didn't get it it's that you fake getting something else.* The OP only said he was giving zero fuck for a killed person if this person was a rapist. Nothing to do with the killer belonging to a minority making it more okay or anything close so...
@@juliencastle2953 So ... I think I saw another video, the one that makes excuses for the murderer and blames the victim without a fair trial, just assuming that the murderer deserves what he received. Just by shooting him in the head, you can't even identify if there was a fight or the victim was given the right to defend himself.
Fear of "persecution" does not justify what has been done. And, by the way, he had already served time. And the murderer, when did he serve his time?
The video sentence was not "So it's speculated in an act of self-preservation and survival she just wrapped the body, hid it, and try to forget about it. And if you think about it, whether Corey knew Woley or not, her reasons for not reporting the death are likely to be the same."? How it can be more permissive?
Even though there was a fight, it was not a helpless woman defending herself from a man presumably much stronger, it was a fight between two men. And another thing, from a lawyer, usually shot in the head without excoriations on the attacker and with the killer hiding the body means one thing, an execution.
@@mestreg5687 So... That's under this other video you should have been commenting that. Again, the comment you answered to didn't say it was more okay cause the killer belonged to a minority or anything remotely close.
I agree with you that we don't know what happened ( nobody does right now actually ) and that therefore we shouldn't call it either a murder or self-defense cause we can't verify any of both but please don't tell random person "Excuse me, so it's okay to do that if you're a minority?" when they're not saying that at all...
@@juliencastle2953 pls, just read the comment made by Primm, in which we are debating below.

I love how you’re always so respectful and open minded to the people in these stories. instead of saying “oooo scary crazy drag queen keeps corpse in her closet!!!” you actually consider why that might have happened and you try to understand what that person might have been thinking or feeling that led them to think what they did was reasonable
Even her jokes are tasteful. I love that she can joke about a horrible topic and still be caring and considerate.
She's a real advocate for cultural and historical relevance which is key in life
That's what I love about her most, she's incredibly respectful towards the people she covers on the channel. She speaks about them like the people they were and not some old fairytale

I've heard of people having skeletons in their closets. But I always thought it was a metaphorical expression not a literal thing.💀
This comment is very underrated. Bravo. Bravo.
But in this case it was half-mummified corpse so it was more than a skeleton...
Unless their names are Sans or Papyrus, but then they would just be getting dressed.
The phrase is based on people with actual skeletons in their closet. It came about during the time of graverobbing fresh corpses for medical research. People would obviously have to hide the skeletons, the rest is up for interpretation.
@@nymphaeales9149 Thank you I'm aware of the history of the expression. I was making a bad joke about the fact that a corpse was found in a Drag Queen's closet.

Hi. Any chance of a video discussing what happened to the remains of the firefighters who responded to the Chernobyl explosion first? These poor souls died of huge radiations exposure then were buried in zinc coffins covered with meters of cement. Has the radiation and sealed coffins covered in concrete preserved their remains????
Lead caskets*
And the cement wasn't immediate. They were buried in it after the athorities realized how dangerous was the radiation level emmanating from the bodies.
Radiation liquidifies people, so I don't expect that, when they can exhumated (if they ever are) there is something remaining there.
As a special note: it wasn't just the firefighters, military men in there, plant workers, ambulance workers. Are buried like them. Not sure about the doctors who treated them in Pripyat, but between being so close to the Lenin and the contact with contaminated people, it could be possible some of them ended up the same way.
Second this! I'd love a video about the corpses of Chernobyl
Being sealed won't preserve remains, it just turns into soup. And they weren't so radiated that all of their internal bacteria would be sterilized. That much radiation would have instantly killed the humans too.
If you speak about the people who survived the exposure and passed away few years ago, they were buried in normal standard burial casks. Not sure what happened to the people who faced the exposure. Some say they were buried in the zone of the radiation. Not sure what you mean in your question so...
If the radiation causes you to deteriorate alive, obviously, it isn't going to preserve a dead body.
the self preservation theory sounds about right on WHY she never reported it... .....definitely understandable
Poor lady
Yep. I'm 100% on Team Dorian.
That seems like the most likely scenario to me as well. What I don't get is why, regardless of the situation, would you keep the body for 20 years? Surely in that time there was an opportunity to dispose of it carefully. It's hard to imagine yourself in that situation, but for me I think it would really mess with my head knowing I have a dead body in my closet and I'd want it gone asap.
@@Tyger20 good question but the body was heavy so she would have needed help from people she could trust a 100% who also had a car, even tho, that doesn't shield you from nosy neighbors or by passer who would call the police on her ( because sometimes prejudiced people just wait for an opportunity to do so, like the one who call the cops on black kids for just playing outside) I guess in the end leaving it where it was felt the safest to her....
It's surprisingly common for people who have killed to keep the bodies in their homes. Part of it is to just be sure that you know where it is and who has access to it. A trans woman would be at a huge disadvantage with the law, so even the most solid self-defense argument wouldn't help her; it'd make sense to try to maintain control over it as much as she could.
Here's a strange coincidence: Yesterday morning I thought to myself, 'I want to know the real story behind Pose' so I searched for Paris is Burning (1990) on YT and was lucky enough to find the full movie. The plastic and fake leather it was wrapped in probably kept the smell in
It’s is incredibly tragic and disheartening that people, especially Black people, POC, and members of the Trans and LGBTQ+ communities have nowhere to turn for help in life-threatening situations like this one... truly, ACAB. These racist and discriminatory systems must be dismantled in order to protect human lives like they should have been in the first place. Black trans lives matter ❤️

@@gwencocoa yeah, I completely agree with what you are saying and I do think that it was probably self defense. Truly saddening.

I'm willing to bet those often quoted "trade secret" solutions are often something simple like super glue/shelack/hair spray etc. But they always want to keep it a secret because if the general public found out it was something so simple or harmful/distasteful that they would get criticized for it.
I was thinking that it's probably hair spray; it's one of those things they recommend to help get stains out of clothes. Buy the cheapest Dollar Store brand; the one that's filled with lacquer. Spray liberally on a stain; wait for it to harden (it separates the material fibres); pretreat; then wash. It probably stretches and hardens dessicated skin.

I live in Phoenix and if I'm not mistaken, they took part in Body World, yeah?
I had this exact same thought!
I really want to see a video about Queen Victoria. The woman so consumed with death... grief... and memorialization that it ushered in a whole new era where socially accepted death obsession reigned supreme. No modern generation was more obsessed with death then the Victorians! She had a picture of her husband taken in their marrital bed AFTER he died and then hung that picture of his dead body over his side of the bed where she slept next to it clutching one of his bed shirts until the day she died. 2019 also marks the 200th anniversary of her birth... Which Brits are celebrating as we speak.... so it's topical! She was in deep mourning for decades... and she obviously was in need of mental health counseling for grief... Something unheard of in her time that could have vastly changed her life.... Mental health acceptance is also topical... Just an idea from my cat....
This is a beautiful idea, I hope they do cover this
CAITLIN TALKJNG ABOUT PARIS IS BURNING IS BRINGING TWO OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TOGETHER! Also I was always confused because they mentioned the corpse in the epilogue of the movie as if it was no big deal. And I was always confused as to why NO ONE seemed to care, even the people I was watching the movie with...
Loved it. Never heard of this case.
Wow this takes ‘skeletons in the closet’ to a whole new level.
This reminds me of the first trans person I met in high school years ago. His name was skyler and was telling me about his problems at school with bathrooms. And how he had to use to special 1 person bathroom for the faculty.
I really really hopes he understood my absent minded "oh ok" as accepting instead of dismissive. I didn't know what trans was, i just accept them as a friend and wish we had talked more.
SKYLER I HOPE YOU'RE OK AND THRIVING RIGHT NOW ❤️❤️❤️
Apparently you never heard of Facebook or google. I’ve tracked-down all my classmates from high school. Try that with Skyler
DUDE I WAS REWATCHING ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING AND I SAW YOU IN THE DEATH EPISODE!!!! I CANT BELIEVE I WATCH SOMEONE FAMOUS
Love your videos. When relocating my parents I was prepared. The only thing I wasn't prepared for finding out they did the bait and switch on the vault containing my mother. We were swindled over a Monticello sealer Vault and were given a vault that cost $1,300 less. She had water damage luckily she was high enough in the casket she was unscathed. 21 years later she looked as the day she died.
Would you maybe do a video about Venus Xtravaganza? She was always prominently featured in Paris Is Burning and was murdered while the documentary was still being filmed
"I Would listen to a true crime podcast hosted by this guy" I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm like this guy needs his own show. He sounds great lol
Vinegar and Cat Liter! I literally spit my coffee everywhere. I truly appreciate your respect of the deceased and how you tell your story.
Ah, its been a while, I missed secret corpse liquids, its my fav recurring character
This is so fascinating! Thankyou for being such a trans ally, even little things help us
4:05 Sorry to anyone who's eating soup while watching this, lol
C Lee Really hope not, it’s a massive heat wave throughout the country.
I was. I laughed.
I’m screaming with excitement. Pose had a scene inspired by this!
Courtney I thought I was the only one!!
You're not the only two!
I was looking for this comment! :D This man got cocooned.
Saw the title & knew I HAD to see the video. I was NOT disappointed. However I am now speechless.
When you've been in the closet so long you're partially mummified 😂
Mummification isn't about length of time, but of climate. See Yvette Vickers. Also, Google photos of guy on a ship that mummified.
I have been waiting for this episode ever since you started this series
Hi! Trans gal here and a big fan. I’ve watched you for a little while but am just now watching this.
Thank you for how you approach talking about our community, even with things like this. Most are quick to assume the worst out of us and make us all out to seem like terrible people; this doesn’t do that. So thank you.
Nearly this exact scenario was featured on the second season of the show Pose. The show covers the ball culture in the 80's in NY.
Love your videos, it's Saturday night here and I'm watching with a glass of wine 🍷 can't wait for your new book!
Can you do a video on what happened to the remains at ground zero on 9/11?
As someone who has studied 9/11 for years, this would be an amazing (but sad) video
Oh yea this would be very interesting
Sounds awsome
Good idea👀‼️‼️
I love detective Figueroa's quote. Who could resist wrapping up a corpse? 😅
Cadaver Crimes: The death of Edgar Allen Poe.
No one really knows what happened, but it's all super shady and mysterious. xP
+
Edgar Allen Poe was found dead on the side of the road in the gutter reeking of alcohol and was known to be a raging drunk, probably a side condition of him being manic depressive. It's said more than likely he died of alcohol poisoning.
Rose C Only he wasn’t ‘known’ to be a raging drunk. That mythos is from the biographer of Edgar Allen Poe - who literally hated Poe. It’s now believed once Poe was dead, the author took the opportunity to assassinate Poe’s reputation.
@@riseandroot4530 I knew all this, it's really interesting and mysterious how it happened, as his rival, Griswold ended up being literary executor (meaning he got copyright) to Poe's estate, later Griswold published a biography of Poe, describing him as a drug addicted alcoholic madman, of which none was true of the real Poe... well, maybe he was a bit mad, after all, he did say Madness was a sign of the loftiest intelligence. But it's just super shady how his rival ended up literary executor and such after his rather odd and unlike himself death...
I read awhile back that the new theory is rabies or something along those lines.
Work, Mama Mortis! (If you've yet to receive an honorary drag name for yourself, I christen you as such - smash a bottle of champagne on something and enjoy whatever doesn't have glass in it afterwards). I've been a fan of your channel for quite awhile now and was stunned to have this episode pop up in my recommended videos today. As "Paris is Burning" and drag in general has enjoyed such a renaissance over the last few years, it never ceases to amaze me whenever I see the legend of Dorian Corey's infamous wardrobe discovery referenced, be it in a fictionalized plot line of "Pose" or in the archives of your magnificent channel! While I can't say it's been a flattering story for all the rest of us drag performers, it has at the very least served us well as a cautionary tale for the dwindling number of people out there who foolishly continue to underestimate a queen's ability to defend themselves. Thank you for always being an advocate for the more glittery underside of society! xoxox
Oh the looks I get for watching you at work...
So worth scarring my guest's. Hahaha
You didn’t even make a “skeletons in the closet” joke. Impressive.
Paris is Burning is a masterpiece. This tidbit just adds a lovely black gracenote.
I HAVE BEEN DYING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A FULL LENGTH VIDEO ABOUT DORIAN COREY AND THE BODY THEY FOUND!!!!
Thank you Caitlin!!
I am in love with these cadaver crimes videos! It mixes my love of learning about death and my obsession with true crime documentaries! Thank you so much! I had no clue that this was the crossover I needed in my life.
Wow I’ve seen Paris is burning and never had any idea about this. It’s so wild how you can just meet or know someone that has a body in their closet and just never know about it or the story behind it. But the way you described the victim, I can’t imagine it wasn’t self defense. It says a lot about how police have treated drag queens and trans people of color when you can understand why she wouldn’t have called the police in that scenario
I work in an independent bookstore and we’ve had so many people preordering your upcoming book! (including myself)
I remember hearing about this shortly after watching Paris is Burning in an "Where are they now" style article. It's good to get the details without sensationalizing it for click bait.
Back in the day, i went to all the gay clubs and drag shows. I am white female, and really never went to any straight clubs, i am not gay but all my best friends were. This was way before aids came. These clubs were wonderful. They had the best music, and atmosphere, and you could dance with anyone you had a mind too. There were alot of Drag Queens and up until today watching videos and listening to these stories, no one ever described themselves as being Transgender. That was not EVER SAID WHEN SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT THEMSELVES . THEY WERE ALWAYS DRAG QUEENS. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE WORD TRANSGENDER FIRST BECAME THE DESCRIPTION OF SOMEONE??
I AM NOT MEANING ANY DISRESPECT OR TRYING TO BE FUNNY. IT IS JUST THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS AND I AM TRYING TO LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS.. WHEN AIDS CAME ALONG IT WAS LIKE THE PLAGUE HIT. ONE WEEKEND YOU WENT TO THE CLUB AND HAD THE BEST TIME AND IT SEEMED IN A MANNER OF THE NEXT WEEKEND , YOU WENT BACK TO THE CLUB, AND HALF YOUR FRIENDS DISAPPEARED, AND YOU NEVER SAW THEM AGAIN. MY WHOLE GROUP OF FRIENDS WERE JUST GONE..THAT WAS THE MOST DEVASTATING PERIOD OF MY LIFE. STILL NOW EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I STILL FIND OUT ABOUT WHAT BECAME OF MY FRIENDS..YOU KNOW I HAVE FRIENDS NOW, BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT THEY ARE GREAT PEOPLE, BUT JUST SOMETHING IS MISSING . MY GAY FRIENDS WERE NOT JUDGEMENTAL OF OTHERS, BUT COULD CUT YOU LIKE A KNIFE THRU BUTTER WITH THEIR TRUTHFULNESS..BUT I NEVER HAD SUCH LOYAL FRIENDS.. I MISS EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM..
"in it's own soup..." *drops spoon*
I was eating cereal as she said that and literally dropped my spoon.
