    Just finished this kit myself, and like yourself I just weathered the kit plastic, I didn't see the point in repainting the kit with a colour the same as the kit plastic 😉👍

      It's not what you put into, but what you get out of it that matters 😀

    oh dude ive had a bad experience with enamel thinner on bandai models, it was tamiya panel liner on a RG rx-78-2, id used panel liner plenty of times without issue previously, but this time it made cracks and seeped into the cracks and looked horrible. also something weird happened where it made the plastic really brittle and caused some parts to crack and fall apart.
    aside from that, awesome build and video! i know its a bit simple but thats fine, if people want videos about a really detailed build, check out Christopher Olson's videos on it.

      @@EagleSciFiModeler HE's the same race as Lando Calrissian's co-pilot in Return of the Jedi.
      That same character, Nien Nunb, reappeared as a Resistance X-wing pilot in The Force Awakens.
      I don't know if he was in the last movie that is "best forgotten."
      That film didn't happen. It's bad fanfiction!

      P.S. -- The model turned over very well with MINIMAL painting.
      I guess if you WANT to really make it look used, you can come back to it in a few years BUT I think it looks excellent as it is.
      And yeah, I've heard issues about the Bandai plastic breaking easily and issues of chemical reactions between the plastic and enamel. The latter doesn't surprise me because I'VE had issues with plastic reacting with paints, too! FYI, I don't like enamels. I prefer acrylics, too. Way less of a paint to clean up and I've found they generally adhere better with a few exceptions. An adhesion promoter is NEVER a bad thing to use with a plastic that's been at least lightly sanded...
      The fact that the plastic breaks as easily as it does IS disturbing. I think Bandai is cutting it TOO CLOSE with the styrene tolerances. That's the one negative thing that DINGS the overall quality of their kits besides the issues with the enamel/plastic reactions and an arguably high price for such small models. The 1/144 and smaller scale kits are generally more reasonably reasonably priced, IMHO, than the 1/72 scale kits.
      I understand to a point why the Bandai Millennium Falcon kits are as expensive as they are but it still seems a bit much. MAYBE, MAYBE some day I'll fully appreciate WHY the 1/72 Millennium Falcon is as expensive as it is but even the 1/350 scale Star Trek Enterprise kits which are arguably as complex as the Falcon aren't that expensive. One thing I'll give Bandai credit for -- the limited edition Falcon 1/72 scale Perfect Grade WITH THE LIGHTING KIT, WHEN it was more plentiful, was LESS EXPENSIVE than the Polar Lights/Round 2 Enterprise 1/350 kits were when you bought DECENT lighting kits with them. You can EASILY spend over $200 in LED/circuit board/sound effect kits to bring those Enterprise models up to motion picture-quality.

    @20:45 -- WOW! This is the first Bandai kit I've seen that's SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than it's MPC/AMT/ERTL counterpart!
    I notice thought that the Bandai doesn't have a cockpit transparency... Did the kit NOT come with one, or did you choose not to use it? That is an option with most of these kits, to not build with a transparency.

    • @EagleSciFiModeler
      @EagleSciFiModeler  5 лет назад

      The kit does come with a transparent canopy. It gives you both options.

    • @AvengerII
      @AvengerII 5 лет назад

      @@EagleSciFiModeler I figured it would.
      They've made that an option on all the other kits so far!
      MPC didn't but then again they didn't seem to do much research for their model kits. It's amazing the MPC Snowspeeder and A-wing came out as well as they did considering how they bungled the sidewalls of the Falcon and Star Destroyer. The MPC Death Star is easily still one of the worst Star Wars kits ever put out! I'm amazed people want to collect THAT one!
      I think they said a larger Star Destroyer kit (14"-18"?) was next on the agenda for Bandai. The release is this summer?

      Yes, I've seen pictures of the new SD from Bandai. Looks great but it's smaller than the Revell easy build kit.

    Hi I really like your videos. I'm completely new to this and about to start my B-wing kit. Just to want make sure I get the sequance right: first apply decal, then clear coat, apply wash along panel lines, and finally matt coat? Can you also tell me which clear coat and matt coat you are using? Are they sprays? Thank you!

    • @EagleSciFiModeler
      @EagleSciFiModeler  5 лет назад

      Thank you. Yes, that's the sequence I use. Testors makes a good gloss and matte coat that isn't very expensive.
