Thanks for the compliments and glad this inspired you to try this kit. It’s a very unique design. I can understand how one can feel fatigued with building these. There are so many. I still have a bunch more in my stash but i do spread out the builds for that reason. That said, they are amazng kits and just love the detailing. As for chipping...one of the funnest part of weathering 😊. Thanks for watching
Looks great! I’m about to weather mine and was wondering if I can use a tamia flat coat after using the pigments for scorch marks or will that smudge the powder? I know I should paint and gloss coat, then decals and panel line. How should I finish it off?
You can use a flat coat, in fact I'd recommend it in order to keep the pigments in place. The trick is to apply light coats and don't hold the airbrush (or spray can) too close. If you're applying with an airbrush I would try Vallejo's matte medium. The stuff can be thick so make sure you thin it with acrylic thinner. Also make sure you clean out your airbrush immediately after using it because it can goop things up a bit if left to stand inside the airbrush. One other suggestion, think about using a Tamyia Weathering kit for the scorch marks. It can be a little easier to apply, more control and tend to be less affected when applying the dull coat. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for your compliment.
Excellent and inspiring. What is the spray tool you are using? Can you provide a short-list of essential tools for those of us just getting into it? Wonderful, wonderful video. I'm going to try this, as I have a couple of Star Wars Bandai models waiting for attention.
Blissmonkey thanks for the compliment. I use a Badger Patriot 105 airbrush for most of my work. Other supplies I’d recommend; mig Ammo’s Starship wash and odorless thinner. Mr Hobby’s glosscoat spray and Qtips. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Great looking B wing ! Do *you* or *anyone* know just whats under the open panel on this exclusive version? Is it a maintenance panel of some sort but I've heard everything from landing gear to ammo for that closest laser cannon. Can't seem to find out what the exposed stuff is. I don't think it's ment to be flown without that panel attachment, whatever it is suppose to be represented under there on the SDCC version. Still love this elusive rebel fighter nonetheless !
@@InterstellarModeler Yes absolutely, it's such a shame it hasn't been used more! Especially with today's CGI technology. It's only had less than 20 seconds of screen time in Return of the Jedi. I've 've been trying to figure out what the exposed stuff is forever lol.. it would be nice to know. I might just write it off as battle damage & the panel parts are floating in space near Endor haha
Nice build and paint job, any cracking from using those paint thinners/washes on a Bandai kit yet?? Can you stick some Cellophane Wrapping Paper over the light/channels/LED to change colour??
I've not had any problem with the Mig solns once the model has been sprayed with the gloss coating. The Tamyia panel line solutions for sure will eat away at the plastic.
Any idea what humbrol colors I should use for the pilot, and if possible the ship too? The manual on the kit dont give any exact numbers and so far no site has even mentioned which humbrol volors to use :/
I'm sorry...although I certainly know the name Humbrol, I'm not at all familiar with the colors they offer since I don't use them. The Testors paints I used are discussed in the final reveal of the model starting at 14:07 in the video. Perhaps knowing those you can find the equivalent in the Humbrol line. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the compliment. The paint colors and brands are listed in the final review starting at 15:16 in the video. Additional weathering materials, Tamyia Weathering Master Kit B and Mig Ammos Starship wash and odorless thinner. Hope that helps.
No, a little water is sufficient. I will be doing more of this in my upcoming Slave One build. I would suggest practicing on scrap pieces first to get the hang of it. You’ll like the effect especially with models of this scale.
As an FYI, the Bandai LED modules that use the LR41 batteries, you don't need to spend $5+ per battery. Simply go to the Dollar Store and pick up the laser pointer they sell. It comes with 3 of the LR41 batteries.... FOR A BUCK!! You're welcome.
Not sure but you can find it on culttvman.com. it's not the limited edition but I didn't think it was all that special. Just search culttvaman's site under Star Wars and you'll see it on page 2
Gorgeous build oggie .. I love your painting techniques .. I think I have an idea as to what one of my next builds will be 😉 What ratio, paint to thinner, do you use for the testors for airbrushing? Build on brother 🤘😎👍
Thank you. The ratio is approx 70/30?? I was told to look for the consistency of milk. As you may know paint will require multiple coats and this was the one thing I learned to be patient of especially when I first transitioned from the ol' rattle cans. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the compliment.
Dont abandon the idea! Your over complicating it (it happens) ,save the Fiber optic cable for external ship lights. Simple Solution : Just tone down the Smd led brightness reduce its voltage if possible by a resistor OR Go the easy rout, a drop of "stick glue" in front of the LED or on it. Airbrush very lightly Dont "coat it " mist it.
When I lit my Mk IX Hawk cockpit I slipped a bit of clear plastic sheet behind the control console and tinted it with drops of Tamiya clear colors. It helped tone down the brightness.
i love bandai models because they are very detail, but they are very small and that is a pain to put together got a star destroyer that i can't put the dome on cause the size
Great job, and another great kit from Bandai. Just a heads up: there were two filming models of the B-wing, the limited edition kit represents the one without the orange roundels so their absence wasn't an oversight. There also are some detail differences.
Sorry....I wish I could give you a good answer. I never time myself but i really should, It would be good to provide that info. .I'd estimate about 10 hours?? Maybe less.
Both can work....I like the look of the salt technique especially if you grind the salt to a finer consistency, the chips can turn out smaller. Something that can look more in scale with these smaller model kits.
@@InterstellarModeler Thanks for the advice. I used to build models years ago, but I wanted mine to look pristine, like they just rolled off the factory floor. Now I want to give them a battle-worn look. :)
@@technewsfortechnoobs You're welcome. There is also chipping fluid that you can look into. A number of different makers including Vallejo and Mig Ammo. These work well too. I just personally like the finer, stippled look I get from the salt/hair spray technique. The technique I end up using varies depending on the build.
@@InterstellarModeler I will have to look into those. I've started compiling a rather extensive list of supplies I will be needing, so that is one more to add to the growing pile. :) Along with all the models I want to work on, starting with the B-Wing Limited Edition that I got for Christmas. :)
It's been so long since I've built this kit. I'm afraid I cant be any help with this one. Might want to check a model facebook page like culttvman, Starshipmodeler or Hobbylink International. There are few solely devoted to sWars models too. Thanks
@@InterstellarModeler I think that they boxed the wrong instructions for me. I got the limited edition and I think they gave me the standard edition instructions
Thanks mr Jeff for the response buddy. I guess I need to read up on these trusty fighters. Honestly other than aesthetics I'm not entirely sure what class the A-wing, B-wing Y-wing and X-wing belong too.
Hey just bought one! I have a quick question can I use Krazy glue while building this ? For proper sealing . I'm completely new at this so don't cut my ass :/
Hi, no worries...you'll find that glue isn't really necessary for most of this build. That's one cool thing about Bandai kits, they fit tightly together and rarely require adhesive. I would recommend getting a hold of some plastic model cement if you want to have some glue on hand. The problem with using crazy glue is if by chance you make a mistake, it will be difficult to undo since it adheres so quickly. Hope that helps and feel free to ask any other questions. Thanks for watching.
Ah I see & yeah I ordered Tamiya cement glue but that’s coming in towards the end of the month -__- Which sucks cause I wanna start building it . Plus I wasn’t gonna crazy on the Krazy glue . Just a lil on certain pieces . What you think ?
@@Zhinister You can definitely start and just see how you feel as you put the smaller pieces together. I don't remember using any glue on this model although it has been a while. I think you'll be fine. One other note about Krazy glue. I prefer using the gel formula if I do use it. It does have its uses from time to time. The gel formula won't run as quickly, you'll have more control with application.
Yes....the kit can be assembled with no adhesives or paints for that matter. It is really up to you as to how much detailing, weathering etc. I think the same can be said with most of the Bandai kits. Hope that helps. thanks for watching
Hiya, i think it’s called a B-Wing because it looks like a Blade, especially when the wings are extended forming a dagger like shape with a cross guard. 😄
@@pandaphil ah okay, fair enough although I reckon in line with how the others were named something like T-wing might have been a bit more obvious, but there you go, what's done is done.
Cool build. Sorry man, I hate to say it, but you wasted your money buying that other decals sheet. Roundels are way too easy to make stencils and paint. As well as pretty much everything else on that sheet.
Interstellar Modeler I'm glad you didn't take offense. I realize now that I may have come across demeaning there. Truly that was not my intent. Trust me, I have wasted much more than five bucks on stuff I really didn't need. I really just meant to give some constructive criticism. That you might consider creating stencils. The effort is well worth the results.
Thanks for the follow up here, no offense was taken of course. I've actually never tried stencils before so it is an interesting idea. Will have to look into it. Fortunately at $5.99, these decal sheets aren't terribly expensive and featuring them here was an opportunity to show other modelers how well they work. Thanks for watching.

Probably already mentioned but there is a pink led kit from bandai. You may have to Import it.
thanks for the tip
Nice job,
Thanks!
Thanks....I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I quite agree though, this is a great model kit.
Thanks for reply
I am new to painting the bandai kits and would like to get into them. Is there a color guide or just the info on the video?
Head to 15:12, the color descriptions are there, thx for watching
Any idea what humbrol colors I should use for the pilot, and if possible the ship too? The manual on the kit dont give any exact numbers and so far no site has even mentioned which humbrol volors to use :/
I'm sorry...although I certainly know the name Humbrol, I'm not at all familiar with the colors they offer since I don't use them. The Testors paints I used are discussed in the final reveal of the model starting at 14:07 in the video. Perhaps knowing those you can find the equivalent in the Humbrol line. Thanks for watching.
magnificent painting technique for this B-Wing 👍 would it be possible to list the paintings (products) please.
Thanks for the compliment. The paint colors and brands are listed in the final review starting at 15:16 in the video. Additional weathering materials, Tamyia Weathering Master Kit B and Mig Ammos Starship wash and odorless thinner. Hope that helps.
@@InterstellarModeler Thank You Very much ^_^!
@@InterstellarModeler I bought the mpc ertl version, it is less good compare the bandai version.
Awesome!
Thanks
Awesome. Do you clean the model with anything after the hairspray and salt effects? Thinking of trying it....
No, a little water is sufficient.
I will be doing more of this in my upcoming Slave One build. I would suggest practicing on scrap pieces first to get the hang of it. You’ll like the effect especially with models of this scale.
@@InterstellarModeler thank you. Slave one! Yes! Can’t wait.
Great job on the strangest but cool space ship they say only the best pilots were employed to fly it can see why
Thanks Andrew
Cheers
BウィングはXウィングと並んで突出してカッコいいと思います。
As an FYI, the Bandai LED modules that use the LR41 batteries, you don't need to spend $5+ per battery. Simply go to the Dollar Store and pick up the laser pointer they sell. It comes with 3 of the LR41 batteries.... FOR A BUCK!! You're welcome.
Yes thanks for the tip, something I recently discovered as well. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.
i have no patience for that ! hope to find one for sale as beautifull as this one !🙂
Thank you for watching and for the kind compliment
hey, why is this kit not available at bandai net. does it stop production
Not sure but you can find it on culttvman.com. it's not the limited edition but I didn't think it was all that special. Just search culttvaman's site under Star Wars and you'll see it on page 2
@@InterstellarModeler alright, but the regular bwing also not available at bandai net.
@@GunplaKhaijue I'm afraid I have no info regarding bandai.net.
Gorgeous build oggie .. I love your painting techniques .. I think I have an idea as to what one of my next builds will be 😉
What ratio, paint to thinner, do you use for the testors for airbrushing?
Build on brother
🤘😎👍
Simple Solution :
Just tone down the Smd led brightness reduce its voltage if possible by a resistor OR Go the easy rout, a drop of "stick glue" in front of the LED or on it. Airbrush very lightly Dont "coat it " mist it.
Appreciate the suggestion. The light kit is cheap enough that it's definitely worth a try. Will give it a shot, thanks.
When I lit my Mk IX Hawk cockpit I slipped a bit of clear plastic sheet behind the control console and tinted it with drops of Tamiya clear colors. It helped tone down the brightness.
What a great idea! Thanks for that!
@@dkkids Np :}
Just saw a video on the generation tech RUclips channel. It showed a clip of the B wing from Rebels? Seemed to have yellow engine exhaust.
i love bandai models because they are very detail, but they are very small and that is a pain to put together got a star destroyer that i can't put the dome on cause the size
AWESOME~!!!!
thank you
Great job, and another great kit from Bandai. Just a heads up: there were two filming models of the B-wing, the limited edition kit represents the one without the orange roundels so their absence wasn't an oversight. There also are some detail differences.
Yes thank you. I didn't know this until building this model. Thank you for watching and for the compliment.
how many hours did you spend building and painting it from start to finish? thanks
Sorry....I wish I could give you a good answer. I never time myself but i really should, It would be good to provide that info. .I'd estimate about 10 hours?? Maybe less.
Would you say the new decal sheet was up to kit manufacturers standards? Or are they the injet printer type sheets? Enjoy your videos thanks
I would think it would make more sense if this was called the T-Wing fighter.
B for Bladewing
There's a hidden Mickey on the second decal sheet. :)
Does the standard kit come with the light option
I’m not sure actually.
Salt & hairspray vs sponging for chipping...which is actually better?
Along with all the models I want to work on, starting with the B-Wing Limited Edition that I got for Christmas. :)
Looks really cool 👍
Right, I’m off to the dollar store to get some Plumbing connectors 😂
Just kidding 🤪
Lol….thanks for watching
Is anyone else's set miss labeling C20-C24?
It's been so long since I've built this kit. I'm afraid I cant be any help with this one. Might want to check a model facebook page like culttvman, Starshipmodeler or Hobbylink International. There are few solely devoted to sWars models too. Thanks
@@InterstellarModeler thank, it's been driving me crazy
@@InterstellarModeler I think that they boxed the wrong instructions for me. I got the limited edition and I think they gave me the standard edition instructions
What was the point of the B wing fighter in the movie?
Ah I see & yeah I ordered Tamiya cement glue but that’s coming in towards the end of the month -__-
Which sucks cause I wanna start building it .
Is this a easy kit to build for beginners?
Yes....the kit can be assembled with no adhesives or paints for that matter. It is really up to you as to how much detailing, weathering etc. I think the same can be said with most of the Bandai kits. Hope that helps. thanks for watching
Interstellar Modeler thank you for replying and helping me out
@@austinramos7948 You're welcome

I get the X & Y wing fighters but I don't see the 'B' in this one. The A wing is also dodgy. Nice build though.
Hiya, i think it’s called a B-Wing because it looks like a Blade, especially when the wings are extended forming a dagger like shape with a cross guard. 😄
@@Innsmouth1138 okay, long bow for them to draw but I see the link, cheers.
Yeah, the prototype was actually called the Blade wing.
@@pandaphil ah okay, fair enough although I reckon in line with how the others were named something like T-wing might have been a bit more obvious, but there you go, what's done is done.

The flight suit is the wrong colour. That's the X-Wing colour, it should be blue not orange.
B-wing pilots have red or white flight suits.
Bandai is to damn proud of their stuff.....$80+ for a that rinky dink kit....Ugh!
Luckily it was about $50+ at comic con last year. I was lucky enough to get it at the show. I'm sure it's more now.

One of the few non-appealing craft from the movies. I can do without it.
Justin Sane as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

with the model kit?
Cool build.
Sorry man, I hate to say it, but you wasted your money buying that other decals sheet. Roundels are way too easy to make stencils and paint. As well as pretty much everything else on that sheet.
Appreciate the comment.
Interstellar Modeler
I'm glad you didn't take offense.
No, young modellers beware! Do some more research before you believe anything in this docu. No offense to the author! Good work, but....so many more extensive techniques. Just saying.. .good b btw!
