Production cars have a million laws they have to follow that track cars do not, not saying it isn't an accomplishment it just makes no sense to bring up production cars.
It makes total sense as they're the only things 99% of the planet understand and can comprehend the performance of.
Fact is, production or not, going THAT fast in THAT distance is a massive achievement, regardless of laws.
A real racer and a real race car built not bought and drove hard all day then drive it home thats great and getting that over 200mph in something that has the aero of a brick thats impressive i love it

I'm in my late 30's and I think steel bar'd cars are the shit. Plastic bar'd cars are just boring- the later model they get the more boring they are to look at. This was deff the coolest car there, even cooler than the C2 'Vette he destroyed on his 2nd run, I think it was

Absolutely love it, in my 20s I fell in love with a 70 Nova. Often did 140 on I95 with front drum manual brakes. Two reasons for this, I was in my 20s and never found the rear I wanted so 327 was in front of a th400 with the common open 10 bolt, 283 or 308? Been a while but I do remember wanting a 373. (Finally found one but it never made it into the car)

hey, that brought tears to this old man's eyes; my first car was a '61 Buick Special (4dr), same colors, with the (aluminum block) 215 c.i. V8 motor; which was pretty good with a four barrel carb. It would spin the tires back then! I can't imagine this power (and speed)! congrats on 200!

Build Tune Race, I have a 1979 Thunderbird. It is immaculate, an old man had it. It’s a 3 speed automatic with a 2:47 final drive. People say I should get that gear out of there. I Love that gear. If I get on the open road the legs are really long on this thing. I surprise a lot of people on the open road. I love it when it runs up to about 90 mph then shifts into 3rd.

Actually the car has a fairly clean design, keep the air from underneath and a good engine. Personally I would like a better seat. And I feel a simply wing would be more stable on the rear.
Though Lutz or Victor Bray here in Oz makes a 57 Chev 240mph,,, and the Buick is pure aero in comparison to those.
Though driving it home,,, now that does make it a true streeter. And it does look like a hotrod street car, not a doorslammer driving on the street.
