My guitar since 2015. It was inexpensive, ($800 or so, with a hard case)...it played and sounded great the day I bought it (from Guitar Center, Arlington). It does not sound as good as high end guitars, but it is not diminished either, not dull, not unresponsive....in its own voice, it is perfect. I still love this guitar very much, years later. It is truly amazing.
This guitar is great at the twelfth, it was machined to be perfect, and it is. can't say anything bad about it, but i did pass it on to my dad, and got a different guitar.
When sldge 1960 mentioned, ovation had been doing this only with a curve, for quite a while now. I thought your right, and it should be ok, I am very happy with this guitar. Its even better than I thought, and its awesome, I dont care what anyone thinks, its crisp and clear.
I played one of these in a local shop and was blown away. I went in for a Gretsch G5420t, which I bought but couldn't at the time quite justify buying both, but I'll end up getting one anyway. the 'forest friendly' thing really doesn't seem an issue when you actually play this instrument, it is sweet, smooth and just addictive. Strums and picks like a dream, the board is as good as anything I've ever played and that includes Lowdens. Ovation have been making synthetics for a long long time and they are good guitars, if you can live with the bowl back, I personally can't, probably due to the bowl front. It's a lot of guitar for £799.
+Craig Smith I would imagine the solid wood would do you justice years down the road. If you plan on keeping the guitar for the long-term, I'd go with the GPCPA4.
i didn't compare cause i always wanted a cutaway, i felt i was missing the bass, gave it to my dad. Got a taylor 110e, it was the wood and the price i liked,if i had the money i'd have a 4000 guitar, but it is still good.
hello I know this is not related to the video. I would like to ask what size of allen wrench should I use for this guitar. Martin GPCPA5 Black. Thanks a lot sir! :)
I liked the feel and sound of this guitar at the store. But, even though I like the look of the neck, I can't get over how heavy the neck is. It makes the guitar feel unbalanced to me. Maybe I'd get used to it.
Beware.... I really loved this guitar. However, despite having a sound hole humidifier, a cool mist room humidifier (I have 15 guitars) and an average humidity of 41% the top still cracked and the the neck needed continuous adjustment due to recurring buzz on high e string. My theory is the spruce top was not absorbing moisture as it should...real bummer . It only lasted 8 months...Martin would not assist me in any way. The dealer & Martin blamed it on me. My other guitars have no issues.
I cannot convince myself to buy a guitar with laminate wood. Especially for this expensive price! For that same price you can buy an all solid wood guitar. This may be helping to save a bit of wood/trees but the price should dramtically decrease for laminated wood. Just be patient and buy something thats your moneys worth!
100% agree with you. With so many corners being cut you are truly just paying for the brand name. I played a Martin PA guitar (not the same model as this one) and it was nothing to write home about. You're better off sticking to the higher end of lesser known companies like Stonebridge or Larrivee unless you can afford to buy the kind of guitar Martin made their name producing like the D18. For me that day is still a loooong way away!!
Honnestly. Have you ever tried these guitars? Mite only be my taste, but I tried a few of these, even the cheaper ones, and I have to say, that they sound and play better than a lot of solid wood guitars in that price range, that I tried. The other thing is: lots of people buy Ovation guitars for triple the amount of money and love them. I thing you'd have to give these kind of guitars a fair chance, before judging them. In the end it's about how a guitar sounds an plays and not about what it is made of. At leas in my opinion.

Best guitar I ever had
For me its perfect, but depends on the size of you hand.

Now thats a professional salesman!;)
I have the GPCPA5K model. Wonderful guitar. Great sound and great player.

I want this guitar! I've played it a few times at the store and love it.
Recently bought one. Extremely beautiful and great sounding and playing guitar for the money!

Played this today in Bristol, great tone and feel - SO tempted! :)
What chords are @ 2:43 ???????????????????
Just ordered this
Body if all natural wood? Both sides?
Can't decide whether I want to go with this one or take the huge jump in price for the solid wood construction on the GPCPA4...
+Craig Smith I would imagine the solid wood would do you justice years down the road. If you plan on keeping the guitar for the long-term, I'd go with the GPCPA4.
I totally agree. I ended up getting a DCPA4 and it was totally worth it!
Craig Smith My man! Job well done...
Take the jump. It's worth it
Can you tell me what song you play at the start?
3 years late but it's called Maybelle by Chet Atkins
Having trouble choosing between this and breedlove consert pursuit ebony..:/ Which one to choose?
Outstanding guitar! Well worth the$$
What hardcase would you get for this guitar shape?
my guitar! I love it!
I'm getting one.
Anyway I got and its awesome!
+sheldon migwans did you compare it to the dread version?
i didn't compare cause i always wanted a cutaway, i felt i was missing the bass, gave it to my dad. Got a taylor 110e, it was the wood and the price i liked,if i had the money i'd have a 4000 guitar, but it is still good.

Kayve Harlem Buyante you will need to order one . I had to . it cost me $9 can . I have a Martin oox1ae . all Martins need the same wrench .
this EQ have a blend or not?
GPCPA5 or GPCPA5K or DCPA5 or DCPA5K?...
this or the koa version?
koa looks and sounds great
This dude is cool. The guitar is a good deal, too. Looks and sounds good.
I am debating on getting this guitar or a Martin GPCPA5K. I'm a strummer and I play more light than heavy. Which guitar is more for me?
Notice all of the big musicians still have their Brazilian rosewood, Adirondack spruce, and Madagascar mahogany guitars. Not just vintage, but new.
Can you say "forest friendly" a few more times, please. :)

i have a forest friendly bridge i can sell you too.
Martinish, not Martin. How many would buy one if the name was Marlin? Answer-zero at that $

I came here (long after the thread started) researching HPLs. Very disturbing, sorry that happened to you.

Look at these cool lines in the neck. Its plywood 🤣😂
I don’t think the statement anyone can afford is correct
Is this a Taylor copied guitar?
Martin has been around many years before Taylor
+Jake likes guitars. That doesn't change that they can copy a guitar from a brand right?
+Rafid Ahsan Anan true, but if anything Taylor has stole from them for years
+Jake likes guitars. Haha true
Yeah, kind of. the same way Taylor "copied" Martin dreads
That synthetic junk box is terrible. Super heavy, sound so dull.
too much money for a Chinese guitar !!! pay only the brand martin
