JJ, Thanks for the vid man...I just got the 230 S 'Night' and I too noticed a slight drift to the left. I ran the calibration procedure and then did the trim flight as in your vid. What a huge difference! The bird is "point and shoot" stable...no fuss, no drift at all, even in a small breeze. Flies perfect now, so thanks for your vids man, keep up the great work.
Thanks again for all your vids. Saved me alot of time. Someone mentioned below about using the panic switch ("ELEV Dual Rate") on the DX6i to start the sequence. Just tried it and it works. After the heli does it jitter dance, then switch it back, fly for a min or so, land, and switch on the panic button again. Make sure the swash does it's post trim dance. Cheers.

Thanks for the video👍 also I’ve noticed you don’t have to turn the helicopter off and on in between each trim flight. Just make sure to start with the blind button wait for the servo dance and finish with the blind button wait for the servo dance and ready to fly again.
My 700e t-rex 600 and 500 do that. But my 450 , blade 230 and 400 do not. I think mabe it is how tight the blades are in the grips. I love my 230 a lot of fun in a little package. Great vid good work. Try bigger motors and flight pack w/ bigger esc combo. We clocked mine at 55+mph two days ago. So small you can lose it in a second. Have Fun

You can also do a Calibration, it's recommended to do so in the event of a crash. If Trim Flight does NOT cure your drift you should perform Calibration. Requires the heli to be level and still for couple minutes.

d12bn thanks! It seems that even if i bought the 230 this week, the 636 rx might still need the update before i can do a trim flight. sucks having to buy an adapter just to get the firmware update.
[Update] SAFE ran through GEAR channel, and the official model setup file from Spektrum did not have it configured. As soon as I did, takeoff was really easy. Thanks d12bn
I just got the 230s, but have not had the chance to test it yet.(to cold here in Norway now). But was thinking of doing the update, calibration and the trim flight after I saw your videos. So therfor I have this question. Do you need to do the trim flight in stability mode? It seems easier to take off in agility mode. I have separated the flight modes and the stability, agility and 3D mode on my transmitter so it should be easy to just turn off the selfleveling.
Did you still have the COG problem after the trim flight ? My 230 had a tail drop and some backward flight after the first trim set up but I found that to because I had used a little too much back elevator to keep it in place, so I re-trimmed and now have level flight. Good videos, and happy flying.
+james tremain The 230 S is tail heavy. Do some pirouettes and if it stay flat don't worry about it. Some flybarless systems compensate for CG others don't do a good job. I saw one of the best pilots in the world had tail weights to balance his CG, I've tried to get my CG close since then.

Your Trim flight procedure worked excellent with the RTF transmitter(Spektrum DXe), but doesn´t work with the Spektrum DX6i, I bound this Tx to the heli and I´m having some issues, so I wanted to make the Trim flight procedure with the DX6i, but doesn´t work, Am I missing something?, Any suggestion you can give me will help me a lot. Thanks for the video. Does this trim function work for all Helis? I haven’t flown a Heli for a long time but I remember to trim it you had to manually do it using the trim buttons. Are those days gone?
I don't care for the rtf radio. It is a great beginner HELI except a little hard to take off, it tilts right and you have to correct it. Once in the air it's great
I was hoping to buy this before xmas having now played with my MSRX for a while. Apparently the 230s has a few issues out of the box, the main one being a swash issue. Does anyone know if the company have fixed the problem yet? As a newbie I don't want to throw my money at a new heli that needs to be fixed when it's brand-new. Also, when I got my MSRX I was recommended the DX6I radio so I could bind it to other models in the future. Should I then just buy the bind and fly 230s or buy the MSRX with the included radio? If I do have to buy the RTF model, what a waste of money the DX6I would have been. Thanks
+JJInvertedProduction Thanks for your reply. So they aren't shipping them with a mechanical fault then, just an electronic fault. I assume at some point Horizon will fix the problem otherwise everyone that buys the 230s will be pretty dissapointed. I'll take a look at your other vid. Thanks
+5hanes Yes there were a couple of issues that were fixed with the upgrade. At some point new 230's will have the latest firmware but I'm sure there are some still shipping with the original. You do need a cable for updating which also works on other Blade heli's like the 180 CFX. I have a video showing everything you need
Is this the same for all stick layouts, Like I mean I fly in mode 4 as I learned on a syma s107 then s800g then syma f3 and v911 so I do not fly mode 2.

I saw all your videos about this topic, but i still have problems to adjust my 230s: I own my 230s since one week. I can hover it without any problem, but: i adjusted the 0 pitch. it is not stable, so i decided to do a trim flight, because it is going forward. But after the trim flight, it did not change anything. But also, in "stability mode", my cyclic is in a strange position, as the heli would go forward. so, i'm forced to flight with a backward action on my longitudinal stick, and when i press the panic mode, the heli is going more forward. The rest position of the longitudinal cyclic is "full forward" when my stick is in his neutral position, and when i put my stick in the forward position, there is no movment of the cyclic, because the cyclic is already in a full forward position.. Could you help me please ?? Thank you very much, and sorry again for my long speech and my wrong lenguage :-)

+Yoan J i resolved all the problems by updating the receiver and doing the calibration. Flights are now perfects and great .. In this tube chain, there are tutorials for those operations, and even, i did not need of trim flight, because updating and calibration are good. Hoping good flights for you, and if you need some help, tell me again. sorry for my poor english.. ;-) I believe did not have the bug of servos... they are strange so strange on the video, but an update or calibration process are good in all cases ;-) see you soon

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, if you are using a DX6i you will need to use the panic switch to enter these program modes.

When you moved your sticks down left and up left, did you have your throttle lock off? Does it matter whether the throttle lock is off or on?

You can do the trim flight in any mode
I seem to usually have the issue of bind button after gets me no dance. Sigh.
What is calibration mean exactly??
A graphic demonstration that the 230S will behave like a crazy butterfly - but it won't hover. At no point does it hold position or height.

On the HH video it doesn't mention anything about turning off the unit and rebinding. Do I need to do that, I'm still getting a unleveled swash.

No it doesn’t. It’s only for E-flight with S.A.F.E technology or (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope.

Yours is untable when winding up. Blades out of balance? Mine is as smoothas a 700 blade.

Does anyone have any idea why this mode doesn't work with the Dx6i? I have tried the trainer/bind switch as well as the elev d/r switch with no luck.
Is it necessary to unplug the battery AND re-bind after a trim flight?
Stephen Zysk I like to unplug my battery and turn off radio. Then turn radio on and plug in battery, you don't need to re bind
