I really feel this. I was sorting digital pictures yesterday, reliving all the things I used to do: hiking, going to concerts, dating, going to sports games. Today I am in so much pain and have so much fatigue I don't even want to get dressed. I leave the house only to go to the store or doctor's appointments. What I wouldn't give to go back ten, fifteen years ago.
Thanks for putting words to this feeling.

Thank you for sharing! It is so hard to focus on today and not look back at the past.

I love this! I find myself missing my “old self” all the time. I really appreciate your thought that you feel like yourself when you feel content and happy-it reminded me that we were created to have joy! I think that when I am able to be happy while I’m sick, that helps me to see my illnesses as a part of the life journey that is building me into my ideal self. When I sink into the depression, I definitely see it all as something that has destroyed my “true self.” I want to work on maintaining that positive mindset more often. Thanks Aimee! 💚

Great episode! I think it's something we all feel but rarely discussed and how to deal with those thoughts.

Hi ,I do miss my old self when I was able to do more things, but I'm trying to live now with my new self because now I'm older too , even if I wasn't living with a chronic pain I was not going to be able to do many of those things anyway, I'm still adjusting to live with fibromyalgia in my life and it's just hard. Love to listen to your podcast and all the other videos , hopefully you are doing well and really excited for the new baby.

Such a good way to look at your life! This is true at any age. We are all changing constantly and things I did a few years ago, wouldn't make sense now anyway. We just get to caught up in thinking about how it used to be that we forget to enjoy the present!
