It's not necessarily explained, but Gohan has always been THE "rage boost" character for the most part. However I will definitely disagree with the people saying this form is "out of nowhere" as back before the Tournament of Power, when fighting Goku, Gohan states that he wants to perfect his ultimate form into something unique, which is 100% foreshadowing for this form. While I also still don't know how I feel about the name "Beast" I do agree that switching it from the name "Final" makes sense given that, that would imply Gohan cannot get any stronger after that.
Yeah, Gohans even been hinting at beast since before the TOP. He's always been getting crazy rage boosts and showing off his potential.
Yes but...why does the movie say and make a point hes gotten "soft" again for the 3rd time. They could of simply had him training with supreme kai.
@@modernwarrior24 Just because he got "soft" still doesn't mean the form is out of nowhere when it's literally foreshadowed still. Also Gohan does block Piccolo's first attack but gets caught by the second hit. Showing that, yeah he's rusty, but not THAT rusty. He quickly adapts in his fight against Gamma 1 and in the end, Piccolo asks him how he learned the Special Beam Cannon when he never taught him it and Gohan stats that he practiced it, showing that he wasn't completely doing nothing while he wasn't fighting.
@@DarkPaladinX77 the TOP arc line was Anime Canon that is basically filler. Toriyama made this form up for Super Hero because one of the executive producers on Super Hero begged Toriyama to add Gohan in and give him a new form. Even if you count that one throw away line, its not build up because we still don’t have any idea what the form is

For question of the day - I am not a fan of how Gohan is treated in Super in general. He studies most of the time off screen but when he is needed to fight, he is instantly just as strong as Goku and Vegeta with very little off-screen training. Case in point being Gohan Beast.

I do half agree with this, but ever since Gohan’s existence, it’s always been that case. So it’s accurate at the very least. Lol
@roberthuff4763 gohan has had multiple training arcs. Multiple episodes of him training with Picollo, Goku, and Supreme Kai. They even showed his first time turning SSJ2 in the hyperbolic time chamber briefly. His other power unlocks atleast showed him working toward it. This beast forms only excuse is that he trained off scream in his own time alone and his hidden potential.
Hard disagree with him not not training, as we've seen him to be training before the universe 6 tournament arc, a bit between the Goku Black arc, he's definitely trained before the Top and outright states that he's trained before his exhibition match between Lavender.
Then he trains more with piccolo as shown in the anime and manga, and gets more training in the Moro arc. He also states in the movie he's been training in secret.
The reason people assume he doesn't train is because it's Goku/Vegeta getting all the on screen training and they've done a terrible job showing everyone else training.
I wish Gohan would just take over as the lead of the Dragon Ball series. I'm tired of Goku, man.
They seem to be going in a direction where characters get their own unique form. At the moment it seems like beast is a Gohan only transformation, though the reason isn't explicitly specified. His "potential" is referenced multiple times in the movie, so that's likely the root of this transformation, whatever that means. Also if you don't like that this figure came with an ultimate Gohan accessory, you're gonna hate Orange Piccolo. In an effort to temper your expectations in terms of included accessories, I find reading the pre-order page helps. Great video, I look forward to receiving my Beast Gohan some time this month.
I'm aware of the included parts when ordering. I was joking about the absurdity around this (normal) Gohan release.
In regards to if I like this form, I am mixed. On one hand, I like that they gave Gohan and Piccolo some time to shine, but I don’t think transformations are necessary. My perspective is that the only reason they keep making transformations for so many characters is for merchandising, like this figure. The transformations don’t serve much narrative plot points and arguably they haven’t really ever done so aside from a few instances: Goku turning SS1 on Namek, Gohan turning SS2 with Cell, and Goku turning SSG with Beerus, and maybe arguably when Goku turns UI/MUI (but even then, because of Super being in a ten year gap where we knew from the start everyone would be fine, it didn’t change much narratively then, either). My point is, all of these transformations and redesigns don’t justify themselves most of the time. I find it frustrating that it’s the only way in which the authors and owners feel compelled to tell us that our characters have gotten stronger, in a world where power levels have always been bs and at heart the series is a martial arts-inspired manga.
My problem with this form aesthetic-wise, is the hair is overdone. Everything else, the colors, the aura, etc. is on point. Lore/story wise, don’t care, they’ve been pulling new forms out the wazoo since the Buu saga and onwards thru GT/Super. So just glad my bois Gohan and Piccolo finally got something

To answer the question of the day, honestly I’m all for him getting a new form, especially a unique one.
Mostly cool with it due to the line in Super where he stated his new goal was reaching a form no Saiyan had ever achieved before, and that line was fulfilled in this movie.
Plus with things like Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego, Rosé, and a bunch of other character-specific forms running around before this, I think him having one is alright, especially thematically.

I like the form enough, if there’s one thing I like about super it’s that each character gets their own unique final form (UI Goku, UE Vegeta, Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo). I’ve seen some other people have this interpretation about the form & it’s the one I personally roll with which is that it’s sort of the “super saiyan 2” of his ultimate form.
Gohans form is still good I’m strong in defending him, his power is always awakended to show he still has it in him. I think it’s a great way for him to get motivation and for him to catch up to his training like in the movie. It was even proven after the ToP he was still training somewhat with practicing the special beam cannon
People like to throw shade at the movie without even watching it, they say it was an ass pull but don't say anything about broly unlocking his full power in 30 mins
@@jmh2035 exactly they literally foreshadowed gohans form in super and people forget about it. And I have people who say the form looks stupid it looks dope to me. It looks like a form a supreme kai would have which symbolizes his power unleashed. Plus ssj3 is literally just longer hair it looks stupider
@@jmh2035Broly was established to be someone who gets stronger and adapts while he fights. Gohan was established as someone who gets stronger through anger and training in Z.

Super Hero was going to be PICCOLO Movie until a producer on Super Hero begged Toriyama to add Gohan in and give him a new form. It’s been stated. Gohan was never mean’t to get a new form, he wasn’t even gonna be in Super Hero.
Beast is nothing like a Kai related form. The Kais look down on transformations, and a more calm minded. Gohans beast form is the opposite of those two. Its a form and its based off of anger.
Beast is said to be based off of the outbursts of anger gohan had as a boy.
Beast Gohan objectively comes out of no where. Beast Gohan defenders will say it had Built up, but having a throw away filler line isn’t build up. To this day we still don’t really understand the form. We don’t know anything about it besides its anger based. It also causes tons of plot holes, which i can explain if wanted

I would actually prefer more articulation if it means more gaps. I get that they're trying new things with this Gohan but at the end of the day, SHF is an action figure. I buy this line knowing they are well articulated, and not just look good aesthetically.
Remember those larger SHF like Super Buu, Frieza 2nd form and some Ginyu members that have the butterfly joints popping out? I like the range those gave.
I myself prefer something in the middle. If it looks amazing and is not as poseable it's no big deal to me. When a figure doesn't look good and can't move (like many Marvel Legends) is when I start to have a problem.
I think the original Super Hero Gohan body for the base Gohan is superior.
Luckily, you can mroe or less just head swap there (sans battle damage, I guess)
I had gohan already, so I ended up getting the custom beast gohan head for him. I didn’t really want to get two Gohan’s, there wasn’t enough differences. I really like his beast form though, it’s a nice power up

Very excited for this figure, it's a very striking look and they nailed it.
For the QotD, this form isn't particularly a Saiyan thing, it's implied to be a Gohan thing. In Super he explains that his goal is to forgo Super Saiyan and focus on evolving his "Ultimate/Potential Unleashed" form. He's been training since the Tournament of Power, and getting super strong when he snaps has been Gohan's thing since day one, so I think the form fits pretty well. I know some people complain about Gohan "always" getting unearned power ups, but the last time Gohan got a new form was literally 1994, so I think it's long overdue. (Speaking of long overdue, Orange Piccolo is the raddest thing DB has done in a long time and I can't wait for that figure).
I feel like every character is going to have their own forms, this is exclusive to gohan, goku has UI, begets had UE, piccolo has his orange form, and Brody has his LSSJ form. I am a big fan of how that is looking.
I am a massive Dragon Ball fan (my favourite anime of all-time); original; Z; Super-however, I have yet to see/read Super Hero. From what I understand, Gohan‘s Beast form is equal to and/or stronger than MUI Goku. If I am incorrect, please someone let me know. While I may not know much [about] the Beast transformation, I quite fancy this new form Gohan has undertaken.
And I do not know where I stand on the articulation. I appreciate what S.H. Figuarts has done here, but the limited articulation-especially on a Dragon Ball figure with humanoid features-is unfortunate. I like the figure, however, and will add it to my collection if and when I track it down.

Beast is supposed to be stronger than current Goku and Vegeta in their atrongest forms. Not sure if the manga will stick with that, but I hope beast doesn't just get overshadowed.
Just got this guy, I am seriously not a fan of the sleeves, it ruins the range of movement and its gonna stress the plastic over time if I pose it in any way which sucks!
I feel like Tamashii Nations has been making even more very poor decisions with articulation with their figures lately

I cannot get over how awkward the hole in his torso Gi looks. I think it has something to do with the material it’s made of but it’s super distracting.
I personally like the original release with the dl customs head. But the special beam canon would be nice to have.
Also Anthony, I urge you to watch the movie. I have a feeling you will have mixed feelings about alot of it. I'd love to hear your thoughts about the whole thing even if you feel it's late for a review.

Question of the Day: Yeah, I guess, it's fine. The transformation isn't explained in the film, but I haven't read the manga adaptation to see if it's different there. My assumption is this is unique to Gohan due to his half Saiyan heritage. Future Trunks has a similar situation where he gets a unique transformation to him as well, though that's only present in the anime version. And yes, he does pull out a Special Beam Canon in the film. Pretty insane that we've never got one for Piccolo.
Beast hasn't been covered in the manga but considering manga Super Hero so far, I'm sure it'll be executed better than the movie.
Some time in DBS near the start of the T.O.P I am taking a path to power no other sayain has done before. I belive this is the ultimate form but at like full power. That he learned from the kais back in Z. And he went down a different path thus this was the result.

in the movie its a special beam cannon piccolo fakes his death and Rohan snaps and goes crazy
this form made Gohan one of, if not, the strongest mortals in the whole multiverse
he acquires beast transformation to beat Cell max, and full beast to fight Black Frieza, and yes Piccolo taught him that Beam cannon
In the context of the film, I thought it was cool. Gohan isn't new to unique transformations, so this is just continuing that tradition
I got mine today and it poses well. I love it, it might be 2nd or 3rd figure of the year after SSJ 3.0 Goku or Orange Piccolo that gets released later this month
Question of the Day: I like the form, but it also looks a bit goofy to me. Either way, I’m stoked for Gohan and Gohan fans that they did this for him.
They basically gave Piccolo and Gohan a power boost to keep them relevant to Goku and Vegeta going forward.

gohan has always been my favorite since the cell saga. wasted potential, glad he got this transformation.
I'm not a big fan of most things Dragon Ball Super. Gohan getting power ups with no training is annoying. It frustrates me.
As for articulation, I much rather it pose well. I can accept a few gaps, but not to the point it's a Revoltech figure.

I understand what they were intending with the torso, but I like the 3.0 joints better even with cuts for articulation. He cant bring his arm over for the firing pose from the movie.
I much much prefer articulation. The torso cut is necessary imo, they shouldnt have bothered with the shirt if it essentially can't crunch at all.
I like the idea of a character that can solo strong characters(if Gohan is as strong as I think) but refuses to fight.
He does call it a special beam cannon in the movie, in the english version at least.

Oh hey, been a while since posting on here again! The tl;dr is that this is just a new form just because, no real build up other than retreading Cell Saga where Goku saw Gohan's potential in the time chamber. And the movie even recreates the moment Gohan goes SSJ2 when he goes Beast. It's controversial since a fan series also has this form, even the same hairstyle. The way Bandai has been pumping out DB Figuarts lately is insane! And so many being P-Bandai too, now they're over 160 and counting! At least this one has an actual blast effect part.

I think the transformation is silly looking. Big fan of orange piccolo look and lore-wise, but I think Gohan should have just kept up his ultimate form, but just be a genius fighter.
Wasn't a fan of the transformation. They openly talk about how gohan barely trains anymore and has gone soft. Somehow he is able to transform into a whole new level of super saiyan just because he gets mad. Felt like a gimmick they just created solely for the purpose of having something fans have never seen before for the big new movie.

I enjoyed the movie. I'm cool with Gohan getting a new transformation, IF, they actually turn him into a fighter and he uses his new power. If he just goes back to being a scholar and a father, and dislikes fighting, then who cares?

I like the face mold better then the DL customs one sense the face seems too big and the hair isn’t the way the hair should be with the purple tints. The only good part is the forehead. And the Custom is stupid when you bring his head up you can see the under of his neck.
Also my faceplates/hair piece doesn’t come off as easily as Anthony’s did here but i do utilize both sides of the double ball peg so idk

They are doing the same thing for Luffy with all the extra parts included with other characters, kind of an awful move tbh since I want the faceplate that comes with Yamato but I don't want her.
I don't like this transformation. I know he is supposed to have a lot of hidden potential but there's no way bro can just pull a new form with practically 0 training, lol.
I like the way the torso is done in this figure, I don't really mind if the articulation gets restricted because the torso doesn't do anything in most Gokus with their current articulation scheme anyway, this also looks way better than the weird "shoulder-plates" some characters have.

He's the first hybrid legendary super saiyan, and yes it is Makacosanco, aka special beam cannon.
I liked the super hero movie it was a nice change of pace seeing a story that doesn't centre on Goku.
On the other hand more Red Ribbon androids is boring, Cell Max is especially boring. I don't like Orange Piccolo (at least hes physically different besides a hair colour swap like G&V) i might not be so opposed if they just made him jacked but left him green. But why wait so long to ask Shenron for a power boost?
Beast looks cool and once again I like he actually looks a bit different.
I would have preferred seeing something more like G&P winning the day through their martial prowess & familiarity with each others abilities compared to what we got.
At this point im certain all these transformations are just to sell more merchandise instead of creating an interesting story.
I don't really care for the Beast form. I like that it's unique to Gohan, since everyone just being some level of Super Saiyan gets repetitive, but It's unearned and a complete retread of Super Saiyan 2. Because of how unearned it is, it feels less like an homage and more like outright laziness; like they're admitting they have nothing else to do with Gohan but have him play the greatest hits. Apparently all we have to look forward to with Gohan is either seeing him slack off and then get strong again or seeing him get angry that someone is hurt.

I'm not a fan of Beast Gohan's design much, it's clearly just for nostalgia of cell saga ssj2 Gohan having same style hair just exaggerated and grey, very thematically similar transformation build-up too, but with not much build-up outside of "Gohan has unlimited potential when angry". Mainly going for this figure for the 1st special beam effect, and folded arms.
Really sucks he has the fusion problem of his faceplate coming off really easily when looking down. Personally I'd rather it poses better with more gapping than looking better so while I commend them going this way to differentiate from Ultimate Gohan I hope they stay with the Ult Gohan design for characters in gi.

I think the hair is ridiculous. If they wanted to give Gohan long hair, maybe the hair should be spiky and flow down his shoulders, similar to SS4 goku.

Question of the Day: Not really a fan of this design or the transformation in general. With how big the hair is it just looks silly imo, and with how similar it is to the Gohan Blanco meme, it makes it hard for me to take it seriously. More generally, I don't like the current direction of every Saiyan getting unique transformations. Things like Ultra Instinct (and Ultra Ego if you're reading the manga) would work better as abilities like Kaio-ken, I think, which could be paired with Super Saiyan but aren't new forms in and of themselves
I am the same, liked him when he was younger and there were hints of his greatness amidst the crying and tearing, fighting back against the baddies.
Then... they pushed him to the background and eventually made him some cosplayer superhero guy... a decision was made, personally i didnt like that. ☹
it was explained that the form is unique to Gohan because he tapped into the power of his human side rather than his saiyan's, that's why Goku, Vegeta and Broly wont be able to achieve it.

To answer the question of the day, this form is a form that lacks originality. It is a cheap copy of Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 form when he was fighting Cell as a kid.
It's goofy looking and should have been something that mixed with his ultimate form and super saiyan form, or he could go the route that dbs trunks did with some infused god ki.

I think for the transformation that the hair is too big. Of course most people who have a problem with it say it so it's almost a meme at this point, but it really is just weirdly huge. The bang especially and the movie's art style just makes it look like they grabbed his ultimate form hairstyle's 3d model and blew it up to a dumb size. Still, Gohan actually fighting again made the movie good even if I think the transformations are dumb.
That being said I also think the Super saiyan blue looks dumb and I know a lot of other love it so maybe it's a me thing and preferring the platinum blonde OG saiyans.
