The "everything electrical is your problem" is a super real thing. I had to fix a fridge for a team overseas once upon a time.
The worst is the dell office computers that we have no admin rights to. Always getting bitched at and can’t fix it even if I knew how lol.
Im in the 18X pipeline right now and my goal is to be an 18E
Thank you for the video
Glad to help, and good luck on the journey. 🫡
Best of luck. SF is the greatest warrior ever!
Always wanted to be an 18B (gun nut) but if I make selection, I think Echo is the way. I hear they often get the nod when applying for the Fox (end goal) so working on my HAM licensing while i continue to prep/get fit. Solid info.
Great video, would love to see videos dedicated to the other three MOS’s as well if possible.
I love the video man! I just got back from Fort Gordon (Eisenhower) for 25B school... I have always been looking into SF as an 18E... it aligns perfectly with my current MOS, this video gave me some good insight to what I may get into in the future! Thank you!
Glad to help, good luck in your future endeavors.
Just wanted to send a quick Thank You! for your videos. I am attending an SFRE with 19th group (Guard) in October 2024. Currently have been training for 3 months now. I do watch your videos and do make a point to listen to your lessons learned. My #1 choice for MOS is 18E. ...I'm subscribed to your channel!
Going to 11b osut in 2 weeks for ng how did you attain a spot for the sfre with 19th may I ask? I heard it’s pretty difficult to get the funding depending on your state idk if you live in that state but where I’m at in PA we obviously don’t have a sf group.
I was looking for a video like this, thanks man.

Spent some time being hired civilian help for NSOCC. Being a radio nerd (amateur radio licensee, FCC Commercial license, etc) I enjoyed BSing with the commo sergeants. Cool dudes.
I was comm and demo. Wow, how much has changed. We had to be good in morse code. So glad it that has gone by by.
Morse code went away from the 18E right before I went through the course, it’s been a good 10-15 years since it’s been taught. Can’t say I was upset to not have to learn it.
Went through the Q Course in 1969 when IMC made or broke you. Back then it was like you were saying do this do that. Had a 10 year break came back in in 1984. Got back to SF in 1990 as an 18E and loved it because I was older and wiser then most the guys. Was Ranger and Halo from being Det SGT of one the 82nd LRSU Halo teams. Spent lots of time cross training my guys to do Commo stuff cause I was the only 18E on the Team same with the 18D who did lots of medical cross training with us. Retired in 2002. Do they still do any IMC or is it gone now?
It’s called Max Gain now, I imagine it’s the same type of thing as IMC. Probably the biggest ball buster of the entire q course.
Can you talk about SOT-As at all? If not I understand, I just think what they do as enablers is cool and SIGINT and EW is the future.
Unfortunately not really. Most of their stuff is classified. I don’t think I could really do a video justice because of that.
Could you do videos on each of the other Special Forces MOS?
If i was younger i probably would enjoy 18-e if i could have joined and tried out fof sfas. I love using morse code im studying to get good at with HF. Im competent on throwing a wire into a tree, vertical antenna or an magnetic loop antenna.
Awesome video, thank you. Do you get to choose to be on a HALO team/which team you’ll be on or who decides on that? Thank you again brother!
Just put a video out about this stuff today.
@@ValhallaVFT love it, thank you, I’ll check it out amigo!
What’s the relationship with what you do as an 18E and the JCU guys?
Thats one of the things that always drove me nuts about being the commo SGT, if its got electricity its your problem haha.
How much programming do you do? Do yall learn c++?
Anyone remember Tad C? God I miss that guy. I hated him at the time. I wish I could thank him now though. Tad was a 3rd Gp guy who taught there during the early GWOT. The course was 6 months at that time.
Mr Kaluah was there. I can’t remember the man who taught wave propagation. He was another Nam era instructor (miss those guys a lot).
I think 18E is the next best job after 18D (was both). 18C was probably the worst (inventory’s). 18B would be the next worse after 18C…. Bravos have a lot of garbage to inventory as well.. urghhh!
Whatever, it’s all awesome. When the team is wired tight and the dudes are awesome, it doesn’t matter what your MOS is.
I miss the good times…. And I guess the bad times to. I wish I could do it again. You sometimes don’t know how good it is until you are removed.
Keep em coming and thanks🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎
I feel like 25U would be a good transition into 18E because as a 25U I’ve everything but my job lma
How many years do you do your primary mos before moving to another, say, from 18D to 18E etc?
Depends. Some guys go 18F after a few years, some may stay an 18E their whole career until they are a team sergeant.
A Echo’s job doesn’t include FAC/ JTAC?
No not inherently. Most guys that go to SOTAC to become JTACs are typically 18Es though.
@@ValhallaVFT Thanks for this. Keep up the quality content
were you a JTAC too?
Yes I was. We call it a SOTAC but it’s essentially the same thing.
@@ValhallaVFT cool; I thought you had Combat Controllers attached as well
Would love to hear your take on being the ODA’s Fox. Is there a certain MOS that’s best suited to pursue the 18f? Cheers
I was my last ODAs 18F for a year, unfortunately so much of that job is classified/sensative it’s hard to really do a video on. But the most common MOS to become a fox is definitely 18E.
@@ValhallaVFT thanks for the answer brother. Got selection in a couple of months, should I be selected I’ve been debating between Delta and Echo. My end goal is 18F though, so maybe I will pursue Echo. Obviously I’m putting the cart before the horse here, but one can always plan ahead! Thanks !
What are the typical schools and Echo get sent to?
Do you develop cancer down the line? Will it affect your reproductive system
Everything we use outside of 1 thing is radio waves, so no. If you were to put your balls in front of a satellite dish for an extended period of time maybe, but that’d be silly.
@@ValhallaVFTlmaoooo very true
