When I got into the GnR hype, it took me a while to understand that Duff McKagan deserves much more attention than he ever got. I like this guy so much. Great musician, and he seems like an honest , kind person :)
hope you are having a good day? Thanks for being a fan, liking my page, and for the support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music and watching my musical videos.
Except him and two bodyguards tried to flip Kurt Cobain's trailer that had Courtney Love and their brand new baby and their bassist Krist... Thank God he didn't manage to get it flipped. Rumors he may have not known they were in there.... But who knows. I guess we were all young and really dumb at some point. GNR is one of my all time fav bands!
Well, as long as you don't see Fear live... I saw Fear open for the Misfits back in April and holy shit, they should have wrapped it up in the 80s. Honestly, it could have been one of the worst live performances I have ever seen. The entire crowd was like "Wtf is this...?" I talked to people around me and we all thought the same thing. The vocalist blamed it on the EQ and was bitching the entire time, but no, he just is not in his prime anymore.
Duff seems like the most down to earth member to come out of Guns N' Roses. Always seems to show his love of music old and new. Some interest picks here.
Still my biggest rock star crush. Found a metal sign that had DF Kagan printed on it. Had it in my garden for years. Thanks for the fun. Glad you made it through
Back in '09 i was workin in a hotel behind harrods in london and duff was stayon there....when he was checking out,i was like 'i know this dude from somewhere' and it dawned on me that it was duff...he knew that i recognised him...he just winked n smiled
Also the most guinine, interesting, stylish, has the most amazing stories & never seems 2 mind being interviewed &seems 2 sit &chat like he's just sat down with a mate...
Such a cool 10 minutes with Duff. Getting "back into records" will open up a whole new dimension of music enjoyment, just holding the records in your hands is magical.
Yeah, I love those… I don't know what you'd call it, really, but those "snaky" licks he throws in to spice up the basslines. They're all over the Walking Papers records, and they immediately stood out to me on that new GN'R track Hard Skool, versus the original demo with Tommy Stinson on bass (no disrespect to Tommy Stinson, obvs).
Gawd. This guy has been through so much. I've loved him since 1992 (age 8, when my mom put a GNR record on). For anyone who is interested in his story, I recommend warmly his autobiography. He has a lot to share.
Not a GNR fan, but love this guy! This feature is always at it's best when you learn something about the individual and their music choices. I feel like Duff needs his own show!
I met Duff McKagan at Seatac airport in Washington state when he was going thru security, I was assisting passengers putting their belongings into the x-ray and he had his guitar case on the table, I didn't recognize him and started talking about music and collecting records with him, he was really cool, shook hands and introduced ourselves, I realized who he was latter, saw him a few more times there after, great guy.
Man I liked duff so much that in high school I payed my friends 20 bucks each to call me duff for the rest of the school year. 2005 was a different year ha ha.
The world needs more Duff. All the Degenerate rappers and ‘urban’ musicians around today make awful music. Makes me sad to think guys like Duff won’t be around forever, we have to appreciate them while we have them.
Huh? We all have to go sometime but considering Duff survived this long after being a rockstar in the 80s and 90s....dont be surprised if he ends up out living you lol.
hope you are having a good day? Thanks for being a fan, liking my page, and for the support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music and watching my musical videos.
Duff holding a Fartz section card....classic. I worked in a cool record store in the early 80's in the U District. Kurt Bloch also worked there and had started the Fastbacks, Duff was the drummer. He also was the drummer in the Fartz.
He’s from Seattle and was one of the last people to see Cobain alive as they shared a flight ✈️ going back to Seattle from LA after Cobain escaped from Rehab. Cobain didn’t hate Duff like he hated Axl because of his attitudes. I always thought Duff and Slash were the best guys in GNR. And every time I hear him talk, he affirms to me that he’s a good guy. Thanks Amoeba! 👏🏻🎸😎 You’re a benevolent MicroOrganism! 🦠😂 Unlike Covid.👎🏻
hope you are having a good day? Thanks for being a fan, liking my page, and for the support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music and watching my musical videos.
I get chills every time I watch the Paradise City video and see him when he was still 19 or 20. You could almost say he was adorable (for risk of sounding gay, lol). But, out of all the members, he was the most down to earth and polite ones. Right along with Slash. As a matter of fact, i'm gonna watch it right now!
This was fucken amazing... no wonder GnR was so fucken great ... they had great taste in music .. that’s what makes a great band ... when they really know their shit and know about the true artist who do it for the love/sake of music 🙌🏻🤘🏻
Duff in Guns and Roses, love watching him play. Most attention was on Slash, but when they first came out, all were soooo awesome. He deserved more credit.
Well of course everyone loves Duff, here, on these comments. He was friends with my boss in the early 90s when I worked in the music biz. I liked Guns. He was just like this then- kind, humble, music loving. Despite his fame. He is just down to earth to the core. I read Mark Lanegan's book "Sing Backwards and Weep" recently because I am a huge fan of the recently deceased and great Mark Lanegan, and I thought to check out Duff's book "It's So Easy and Other Lies" because of Mark's mention. Highly recommend! Duff is a legend.
Almost impossible to hate this man.
It's impossible
I am pretty sure I love him. I am a straight male, and I love him in a non romantic way
so true man, I can barely stand G'n'R but this dude is alright
@HMat unfortunately, many internet users dont need any reason to hate someone, including this awesome guy.
Duff has always been nothing but lovable
Duff was always the coolest member of GnR.
One-Eye only after Izzy quit.
Izzy stradlin
Nope...Izzy Straddlin WAS Guns n Roses. Period.
Duff and Izzy and Steven are solid dudes
I was always more of a Slash dude but Duff and Izzy are in the same boat, cool rock icons for sure
Duff, Izzy and Slash were the majic in that band
I feel the same way❤
It seems he is the most gentle and polite member from GNR. I have a lot of respect for him.
@@nicolecoldren5573 If the baby and bassist weren't in there, I would like him even more for trying to flip it over
Anyone who buys Minor Threat, Fear and Prince at the same trip to the record store is alright in my book
Platypusfuss: They grow 'em eclectic out there in Seattle.
The Mouth Dont Stop

Damn, the story of him and the 1999 record. That's true power of music.
Amen 💜
And then moved to LA and was in GNR. Talk about an LA Story
Him and Izzy Stradlin were my heroes when I was twelve.
Same. Except it was only Duff.
Izzy was great. First JuJu Hounds cd was amazing
GnR is not GnR without Izzy. With all due respect to mighty Duff
sameee
Back in 1988...
Maybe the best "Whats in my bag" I've seen. I love that he connects the music to his own life.
As a preteen punk kid in early 80's Seattle, Duff was the scene guy I looked up to most. Literally and figuratively. Glad he survived.
Yea I was over in Seattle a lot in the late eighties and early nineties. Good times
Not into Guns n Roses at all but Duff is a cool and honest dude every time I see him interviewed...and he knows his tunes
Same
Not into Guns N´ Roses? Are u crazy? :D
@@megeantivalo 🤣😜
Have you heard Nightrain? Listen to it and get back to me. If your energy doesn't shoot through the roof I'm clueless

I met Duff a long time ago at a hotel spa in Hawaii. He was running on the treadmill like a bad ass athlete. Said he likes to run... really nice guy.
Love how much Duff loves Prince. What a great guy. 💜
You'll love anything and listen to anything when you're drunk with vodka
@user-wi2dp3ol9m
Bot you show up everywhere.
He’s a Prince fan and a punk rocker 😍
Yep, and Shooter Jennings, kind of country metal, at least at the time he was listening to him. He's covered a lot of musical bases...lol.
Glad you made it through
Duff is the living proof of how eclectic Seattle rock scene is.
Seattle in the 80’s abd early 90’s there was nothing to do but stay inside and buy records and listen to records. All kinds of music.
Seattle Sub Pop records at the airport sell outs
Notneb Airevilo The Sub Pop slogan is “spanning the globe for profit” lol
GnR bass player digging Prince... That's complete respect for talent.
Back in '09 i was workin in a hotel behind harrods in london and duff was stayon there....when he was checking out,i was like 'i know this dude from somewhere' and it dawned on me that it was duff...he knew that i recognised him...he just winked n smiled
how can you not love him??
Duff seems like such a humble, cool dude. 🎸✌️
Possibly the MOST influential human being to me as a bassist. Awesome.
Les Claypol is from another planet. Check out Stanley Jordan :amazing bass player
It's cool Duff has an identity beyond Guns N Roses which I never followed. Duff is an awesome story teller because he describes colorful experiences.
Possibly the coolest man in rock n roll.
Also the most guinine, interesting, stylish, has the most amazing stories & never seems 2 mind being interviewed &seems 2 sit &chat like he's just sat down with a mate...
sorry bro but Dave Grohl takes this title
sorry bros.. that would be John Taylor
Nah Jim Morrison hands down.
@@ericdraven7185 John Taylor is cool because he was in a band with Duff
Gotta love Duff, read his books and been a GnR , Loaded, Velvet fan since day one. Incredibly intelligent and humble. Very rich too.
Awww...Duff talking about how Prince saved his life. As a former heroin user, Prince and GnR fan that hit me.
@Tony who said anything about Eric Clapton?
Such a cool 10 minutes with Duff. Getting "back into records" will open up a whole new dimension of music enjoyment, just holding the records in your hands is magical.
Duff has great taste in music. Duff is a true punk rocker.
Loved Duff's book It's So Easy...and Other Lies...Awesome story...Phoenix from the ashes type stuff! Such a humble dude!
Agree. Best rock n roll book ever. And he wrote it himself.
I just listened to the audiobook. 10+ hours of greatness
Love Duff, I think he's underrated as a bass player due to Slash dominating the GnR sound.
I love em both, but izzy is more critical to the gnr sound than anyone.
Thank you for sharing Mr. McKagan! That was awesome.
Gawd. This guy has been through so much. I've loved him since 1992 (age 8, when my mom put a GNR record on).
For anyone who is interested in his story, I recommend warmly his autobiography. He has a lot to share.
I appreciate all Duff does for the Seattle scene and KEXP.
Prince was an awesome musician
"Filled my imagination with what was possible." Putting that up in my classroom.
Love Guns n'Roses, Duff, Prince, and definitely record's!
Not a GNR fan, but love this guy! This feature is always at it's best when you learn something about the individual and their music choices. I feel like Duff needs his own show!
...if I could hang out with anyone from GnR. it's gonna be this guy.
Huge respect for you, Duff. Thank you.
I'm a huge Prince fan as well! I am also a huge fan of you Duff Mckagan! 💜

Duff is the secret ingredient in Guns N Roses.
One hell of a bassist! He plays up front and all in it and FILLS each song perfectly.. his licks run with the guitars fully!
Duff, you are a cool dude.
I ❤️ Duff! He’s such a genuine guy!!
Man I liked duff so much that in high school I payed my friends 20 bucks each to call me duff for the rest of the school year. 2005 was a different year ha ha.
packlesswolf1 2005...the hell. Think you missed the bullet train by nearly twenty years, bud. Never too late though. 👏
oh shit i was born in 2003, that's wild man
I love Duff's bass riffs and his transitions soooooooo much!
i met him once after a show and he was the nicest member of a rock band I met. The only other band that were as nice as him was Korn.
I have a soft spot for him and jerry cantrell 😭💕they're so precious
I hated guns but always respected duff. Now I see him in a prince hat? 100% respect!
GBH is a awesome punk band. Great that TSOL was mentioned . My favorite era in punk has always been second wave.
Duff is someone I would love to hang out with, he seems so cool and laid-back, love the guy! And he’s a prince fan! Which makes it even cooler!
Nice 1 Duff, my first cassette was appetite for destruction and I still go back to this album to this day 🤘🇮🇪
Very down to earth dude, no rock star complexes. Never been a GNR fan but I am impressed with his taste. Not many know G.B.H, that LP is a classic.
Really cool dude. Seemed to be 100% all in and genuine. Totally exciting with enthusiasm and great memories of these selections.
Duff is THE reason I play bass. He's the freaking man!

He is just plain cool
John Doe’s book was great! I’m excited I’m playing with X this weekend I’m thinking about having John and Excene sign it
He had the best solo career of all of them. The best writer from gnr
He's fantastic but Izzy was the best writer in Gn'R
This was a great episode!
I could talk to Duff for eternity about music, he is very musically broadminded.
GNR helped me get through a difficult time in my life. Use Your Illusions 1 and 2 forever in my heart
