The craziest thing is that Jess and Zach do this often in their podcast, and I just finished watching their improv musical where they played 7-8 different characters with growth and development, coherent plot and all this based on a random word from the audience. I admire them so much!

I must say, as much as I love this show, I don't think the "shorts" really capture what makes it so good. It isn't just funny songs made up on the spot, it's the way they take the littlest thing from the beginning, and build on it until it takes over the whole show. They took a flub about being 1/2 man, 1/2 centaur (i.e. 2/3 man, and 1/3 horse) and just ran with it. Even the little callbacks in the finale about the principal and the pizza pockets get their due. It's all wonderful! Glad more people get to see this now

I want this to get love and attention because I have always wanted a more visual component to Jess and Zach's improv podcast. I think musical improv is a little niche (maybe? Hard to tell because it's my favorite). This might be going through a trial period at Dropout, so here's hoping it gets renewed. I'm proud of Dropout and all the new ideas coming from that subscription service... I just feel so inspired by all of these talented, creative comedians trying bold things. And of course, forever blown away by the musicians who come up with all of this on the spot. Theatre techs I see you with those lights, a lot of improv shows don't include that great element. And the narrator Mano Agapion brings the same charisma as Sam Reich. He is integral to the flow of the show- the person who thematically sews it all together. Editors you are so clean with your stitching that I almost forgot about you!

Kronos is to Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus what Gamechanger is to Play it by Ear, Dirty Laundry, and Make Some Noise. Gamechanger is like the primordial soup of god-tier, season-length gameshow concepts.

And if I may continue the analogy with the prodigy children that have earned a much deserved spotlight from these gameshow’s.
Zeus : Hercules :: Make some noise : Brennan
Pushing the bar for improv sounds and sketches higher and higher up that hill every episode he’s on.
Hades : Zagreus :: Dirty Laundry : Lily
Opening up hell’s gates and bringing peoples dirty sinful lil secrets out in the open.
      And of course…
Poseidon : Atlas :: Play it by Ear : Jessica “the GOAT” McKenna
The unsung singer carrying so many improv based dropout episodes on her back. I’m so hyped she’s getting so much more screen time lately! I’ve only just recently looked into her other works and it’s wildly impressive.

The theme of friendship and not taking it for granted is beautifully realized with “In the Rear-View Mirror.” Also, it’s just hysterical with the half centaur and their life cycle. Definitely an amazing episode and the right one to be free on RUclips
