Nav unit displays it's curse of the peeling control buttons. This wasn't corrected until 2006. I bought a used one just for the button and knob covers. An ungodly sight ! In the day, Cadillac would replace the entire unit under warranty. Can't wait to see the finals !
My best friend and I were at the junk yard taking apart 1st gen CTS's. I wish my son was into cars because I am building my CTS for him. It's hard when I don't have him interested in what he wants to do with it. I feel bad for you because you don't have a Tech 2. I bought a knock off for 200 and it relearned my Nav unit and remote keyb fobs so easily to my CTS. Now I don't have theft lock.
New radio was unfortunately taken out because it was not able to be reprogrammed. Too old of a car + the program itself was out of date compared to the new Tech II’s version. Only way to get a new radio apparently (according to the dealer) is to buy a brand new unprogrammed/unlocked unit.
@@US_Joe Yeah, considering getting a Tech II myself to program it. Looks inexpensive at around $300. Would allow me to program it myself and program my key fob. Dealership tried to rip me off with the fob programming.
is the aftermarket air filter the only thing you can do to the car? because I have the same one and I need to do a timing chain replacement on it. any tips?
If you’re doing the timing chain, replace everything that’s timing related. I had every chain, guide, tensioner, VVT Solenoid, and Cam Gears on Bank 1 changed out. The LY7 (3.6L V6) can be modified, but you’re limited because of the transmission or just fitment problems. While companies don’t make parts for the CTS itself, you can find stuff made for the V6 G8, V6 Camaro, etc and it should fit as long as it’s an LY7 or LLT if it’s Exhaust related. Best bang for buck though has to be the intake. I got that after I had my timing replaced.
@@mikealbarker5075 I had a shop do it for a total of $1900. Dealer will probably charge around $3000. Find a good shop that won’t screw your over! - New Chains - New Guides - New Tensioners - New Cam Gears for B1 - Fluids changed
I started working on my car myself this summer. If the ticking is coming from up high on your passenger side, it’s probably your purge valve solenoid. My used to tick very loud before I swapped it out. Very inexpensive fix.
been a while nice to see the cts again!
She’s been properly fixed since the last video! No more check engine light!

Where’d you get the black piece for radio mines cracked at the top to
Junkyard Parts out of another CTS. Only real way to get one nowadays.
Did you have to get the new radio programed

@@KSShel Not true - been there. Dealer is BS as usual.

By any chance you have a mechanic that works on your car? I have a 2006 and have a ticking noise

My car lags on the first rpm I like your grill though🔥💯
Thanks! Yeah, the throttle lag is kinda eh on this car. I’m probably gonna invest in a throttle controller in the future.
