  • In this video, I get a new setup for my CTS when it comes to exhaust.
    I have done everything from Headers, Hi Flow Cats, to even getting a custom catback exhaust setup done for it.
    I definitely am enjoying this setup, and I hope you guys like it as well!

    I have basically the same car but an '05. Same paint too. Your videos have been popping up in my feed, cool to see someone so dedicated to the car in 2022. I've only had mine for 2 years but it's a fun car.

      Ay that’s great to hear man. I fell in love with mine ever since I got to drive it in 2019. My parents owned it since 2014, but I didn’t own it until 2021. These are fun cars, and they have a hidden aftermarket that takes a little time to get it work, but I’ve been happy with how it’s been going on. I appreciate the support!

    I did this exact same thing to my 04 CTS 3.6 about 2 years ago. The 1st thing to keep in mind is that you're going to need a tune to get the full benefit of these headers, You will get lean codes, and the engine will start to run hotter than normal. I tuned mine with HP tuners. The only thing that needs to be changed in the vehicle's calibration is power enrichment=Lamda

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I 100% need to get a tune. I'm not throwing lean codes, but I am throwing P0420/P0430 because of my Hi Flow cats. I'm wanting to get tuned after a Trans Swap/Rebuild along with installing a factory 3.91 LSD from an SRX. Doing a service on my 5L40 would probably do me no good since it's on it's OG ATF from 2007. 🙁

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад

      Yeah, it was a pretty complicated job. I will say though, it’d prob be better to keep the factory manifolds and cats on for a more toned down sound. It’s pretty loud and I have a bad exhaust leak.
      But it was an experience for sure. Gonna have to reorder new headers because of a hole in one. No clue how, but it happened.

    • @Anthony-rg5ic
      @Anthony-rg5ic Год назад +1

      Well I’m currently no cat with factory exhaust on driver side and broken about two foot gap from manifold to resonator so it sounds like crap but I love the way this sounds I was thinking also adding two mufflers so make it quite and deep

    Nice setup I’m fersure going to try it out .
    Can you explain a little more you said priced the exhaust at 400 w catback
    So you took off the mufflers ? By exhaust are you talking about the new pipes and weld? You stated the factory exhaust would not fit the cat or reso x

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад +1

      Yeah, so I took my car to the exhaust shop open header and I had them weld me an entirely new Catback setup. 2.5in all around with the Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe in the middle. It costed me $400 for them to weld it all together including new pipe.

    • @harborspeedtv7100
      @harborspeedtv7100 Год назад +1

      @@KSShel sounds good I’m going to buy all they parts first and take it to a shop
      So when I go with all parts I just tell them I want a 2.5 catback all around ?
      Also I watched a lot of 3.6 exhaust and your hands down sounds the best compared to straight piping or just new mufflers been watching your channel for a while the car has come a long way

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад +1

      @@harborspeedtv7100 Yeah, it’s a full 2.5in Catback exhaust. Thank you for the support as always. 🙌
      Personally, if you don’t want to go super wild just get the Catback. The headers were rather difficult to install due to how tight the engine bay is. Labor costs can get high if you’re doing it at a shop.

    • @harborspeedtv7100
      @harborspeedtv7100 Год назад +1

      @@KSShel makes sense yeah man I seen you put them on I’d have to just go the alt route and have my mechanic put it on hopefully won’t charge me to much , my current headers are factory and beat up and my cats are bad so I’m thinking of just going with your setup trying to keep everything under 1500 since I have to pay for labor , check my page out this week I’ll be uploading videos 🤙

    would all those parts fit in a cts 3.6 premium 3rd gen with digital clustes an all that?

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад

      It will not. The LFX has a different design from the LY7. Best you can do is probably have an exhaust made for your car at a shop if it doesn’t have a factory valved exhaust.

  • @BMWN54N55
    @BMWN54N55 Год назад +1

    What type of exhaust is thiss and what is the brand because I have thiss same car

    • @KSShel
      @KSShel  Год назад

      It’s a Custom Full Exhaust Setup.
      1 7/8in Long Tube Headers from American Muscle (having issues with this, managed to put a hole in one side.)
      Pypes 300 Cell Hi-Flow Cats
      Then a Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe
      Entire Catback is 2.5in.
      Goes out to 4in Tips.
      While I do like it, it leaks. So when I eventually rebuild the engine, I’ll go with a new full setup, should be higher quality components.
